Being a lifelong cryptozoology buff (even in kindergarten I was checking out library books on Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster), I have to confess to having a soft spot for the Animal Planet crypto show "Lost Tapes" even though being fully aware that the quality of the show ranges from intriguing to unintentionally laughable to downright awful.
I still prefer it to the History Channel's "MonsterQuest" Aka the weekly one-hour program where researchers go looking for a monster and never find a damn thing.
Each half-hour episode of "Lost Tapes" is like "MonsterQuest" done in the style of the Blair Witch Project, combining fake "found footage" of people experiencing a traumatic encounter with the cryptid-of-the-week that is never actually shown on camera interwoven with speculative factoids behind the allegedly real creatures people claim to have sighted. You'll see bad and amateur actors being terrorized by familiar faces like »

Director Mario Van Peebles has a new indie drama coming our way by the name of Bailey and has already found his stars.
Michael Clark Duncan, Morgan Simpson for Bailey
Michael Clarke Duncan and Morgan Simpson have signed on to co-star in Bailey, a film that centers on spiritual redemption against the backdrop of Memphis blues.
It just so happens that Van Peebles will direct off a script by Simpson. Production on Bailey is expected to begin this August in Nashville. »

The last time a Southerner tried to save someone via blues on the big screen, the result was Craig Brewer's love-it-or-hate-it Black Snake Moan. But given the oddities of that film, I'm imagining that Mario van Peebles' version, Bailey, is going to turn out fairly different. Son of legendary blaxploitation director Melvin van Peebles, Mario will direct Michael Clarke Duncan and Morgan Simpson in Bailey, a story of "spiritual redemption against the backdrop of Memphis blues," according to Variety. Morgan Simpson, who I can't even find on IMDb (there are three of them), wrote the script and will play the title character. »

The ocean offers an ideal setting for a horror novel or film. It’s an unknown, it’s unexplored and it’s an uncontrolled environment that when filled with man-eating predators the situation becomes scarier than any slasher movie I have ever seen. Unfortunately, the killer shark genre has a lot more misses than hits; we can thank movies like Megalodon, Shark Attack 3: Megalodon and, yes, even Jaws: the Revenge with Mario Van Peebles. But that was until author Steve Alten brought Jurassic Park to the deep blue. Unlike the dinosaurs of Michael Crichton series, man did not bring these oversized fish back from extinction; they have survived undetected for millions of years in the unexplored trenches of the ocean, minding their own business until man finally unearthed them… »

Agent Randall Harrison is dead. I don't know why, but that makes me side. Maybe, it's because Mario Van Peebles (who plays Harrison) a director on Damages, so I didn't expect it. Or, maybe it was because Harrison died of a drug overdose, which is funny in a twisted way because Peebles played Stone in the 1991 film New Jack City, where he lead the war on drugs against Nino Brown. I find it doubly humorous that Agent L.J. Werner is still alive. Why? Because Werner is played by Glenn Kessler, the Co-Creator of Damages. Coincidence, I think not. It seems if you created the show and want some face time, you're in a much better position to stay alive than just being a hired-gun director. Anyway, on to more Damages. We now know that Patty Hewes was indeed shot by Ellen Parsons. In the forward flash, one month from »

An angry woman who bought New Jack City star Mario Van Peebles' former home is suing the actor for lying about the place she's now living in.
Adel Bebaway purchased the star's condo in Playa Del Rey, Los Angeles, for almost $1.4 million (£1 million) two years ago and has since discovered the floors are uneven.
She claims the former owner and his realtor lied during the sale, and she's seeking unspecified damages, according to TMZ.com. »

Damages</i>" style="margin:0 5px 5px" />Damages fans have been slowly putting together the pieces of Ellen's hostage-at-gunpoint flash-forward all season, and when the final piece falls into place, big changes are coming.
"There's gonna be some major, major upheaval in Patty's life, and Ellen has some coming in her life as well," cocreator Glenn Kessler says. "The ground is going to shift considerably. Many of the things we've proposed throughout the season certainly do get knotted up, and these women end the season on very different ground than they started."
But Kessler doesn't get to just write the twists and turns heading Ellen's way — he literally plays a role in them as FBI Special Agent L.J. Werner. Along with his partner Agent Randall Harrison (Mario Van Peebles), Werner has been working Ellen as an informant against her boss. But Patty may not be the only one with secrets to uncover. »

Most people with decent taste or a modicum of sanity know that Clint Eastwood is legendary for a long list of reasons, including (but not limited to) fighting Nazis, cruising around with an orangutan, giving Mario Van Peebles a hard time, departing a maximum security prison, protecting the President, traveling into space, wooing chicks a fraction of his age, and punching and shooting a seemingly unlimited number of gunslingers and perpetrators. And that's a slow day. Turns out there are... »
