“I’m told the replay of Nick Chubb getting injured is not to be seen,” Monday Night Football’s Joe Buck said on the ABC broadcast tonight. In the background just after, you could hear the stadium crowd react to the footage being shown onscreen.
“Yeah, we’re not going to show it. It’s as bad as you can imagine,” replied analyst Troy Aikman.
Chubb, the Cleveland Browns’ star running back, was on a short run near the end zone when he was hit low by Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and went down at the 3 yard line. He immediately grabbed his left leg and took off his helmet. You can see the play below, without the gruesome close-up.
Joe Buck: "I am told that the replay of Nick Chubb getting injured is not to be seen."
The groan from the Pittsburgh crowd probably tells us all we need to know.

While it may have been difficult to watch "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" get the axe from NBC, a comedy about a group of good people within the NYPD actually trying to do good for their community during a very real influx of injustice made their genuine efforts look all too much like a fantasy. Although the series has left us, when "B99" wanted to be funny, it had some of the most hilarious writing on television, and the stacked ensemble cast always came to play.
As with any great sitcom, however, some of the series most memorable moments involve the addition of a surprise guest star to the mix. "B99" has featured such a diverse roster as Lou Diamond Phillips, Patton Oswalt, Jenny Slate, and Sterling K. Brown, but it was in their first season where series creators/writers Dan Goor and Michael Schur brought out one of their funniest guest spots in Adam Sandler.

Exclusive: Emmy-award winning director Steve Trout of NFL Films was sitting in a nondescript hotel conference room in Dallas, the clock ticking towards the biggest shoot of a documentary to be called The Perfect 10.
“Yesterday, we pre-lit everything,” Trout told Deadline. “Today was a full day of rehearsal.” If he was feeling pressure, he wasn’t letting on.
In the morning it would be game on: filming a group of football legends as they assembled for the first time—the only men to win a Heisman Trophy and be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Marcus Allen, Tim Brown, Earl Campbell, Tony Dorsett, Barry Sanders, Roger Staubach, and Charles Woodson, sitting down for a once-in-a-lifetime conversation as multiple cameras rolled.
“If you go by hardware, it really is the greatest collection of football talent at one place in one time,” Trout said. “It’s the coolest clubhouse in football history.

CBS caught online criticism for a badly timed joke about Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith’s painful injury last week.
Before the Redskins took on the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, “NFL on CBS” aired a voiceover on the pregame show about Adrian Peterson being thankful for his health that ended with the line “but the same can’t be said for the Skins’ centerpiece, who broke his drumstick.”
The Thanksgiving pun referred to Smith breaking his tibia and fibula last week in a game against the Houston Texans. The compound fracture has been compared to the career-ending injury suffered by Joe Theismann 33 years ago.

The most extraordinary thing about Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s big post-Super Bowl show? Besides a few unobtrusive cameos — compare them, for example, to Prince Presents New Girl: A Royal Post-Game Engagement Brought To You by Ford Focus – Sunday’s special episode was hardly extraordinary at all. Football itself came into play only once, during a brief cold open that pitted the Nine-Niners against their archnemeses in the Fdny; both A and B-plots revolved around fairly standard shenanigans in the office and in the field; even Adam Sandler managed to keep things toned down when he popped up briefly during the show’s second half.

After the Ufc icon suffered a horrible, leg-bending injury on Dec. 28, stars and fans rushed to Twitter to express their shock over seeing such a gruesome incident, and also to send their prayers to the ailing fighter.

During the Ultimate Fighting Championships, Anderson Silva had only lost one fight up until now -- to Chris Weidman, back in July when Weidman knocked out Silva in a fight when Silva was doing what some would call showing off.
Saturday (Dec. 28) the fight ended with a much more gruesome outcome. Silva was defeated by Weidman when, roughly 90 seconds into the second round, Silva kicked against Weidman and Weidman blocked. But the block resulted in a broken leg for Silva. Many on Twitter were calling it the most gruesome Ufc injury of all time.
Weidman said after the match, "The goal is to get your knee up and allow them to make contact with their shin right there. As soon as he hit me with that kick and moved backwards I knew right away. There's no real excitement in a fight finishing like that because you never want to see anyone get hurt like that.

Despite the fact that the majority of the more than 30 Super Bowl ads (which sold for around $4 million a pop) debuted online ahead of time, the Twitterverse seemed to engage with a flutter of hashtagged comments during every break in a way that suggested most, like myself, were seeing them for the first time.

FX has unveiled a third promo for American Horror Story: Asylum — and there are truly no words to describe it. Why? Well, because we have no clue what’s happening in the teaser!
It appears to be an overhead shot of a zipper-top tub filled with milky-hued water. In it, a body writhes around, face-down. But, again, that’s just our interpretation.

For someone whose sort of job it is to be aware of all the new TV that's on each weeknight, it's really a little embarrassing how frequently I just put on some reruns while doing other things around my apartment. This means that I barely pay attention to TV anymore unless it's something I really want to watch, it's sort of like a flickering box of lights that makes my apartment feel not so boring for a little while at a time. Is that weird? Actually, don't tell me, I really don't care. Here's your Monday night TV:
8:00pm: "Antiques Roadshow" on PBS
"The Bachelor" on ABC
"Enough Already with Peter Walsh" on Own. Okay, so use an anonymous name if you must, but can someone tell me if they're actually watching anything on Own? Because if I don't have to list this shit I won't. I figured for...
