Exclusive: Blair Underwood returns to 'Old Christine'

3 November 2009 9:53 AM, PST | EW - Ausiello Files | See recent EW.com - The Ausiello Files news »

I see an Eric McCormack-Blair Underwood slugfest in The New Adventures of Old Christine's future. Sources confirm to me exclusively that Underwood has signed on to reprise his role as Christine's former flame, Daniel (or as he's referred to by his students, Mr. Harris) for one episode. My educated guess? Underwood is being brought in to cause some trouble between Christine and her current beau, Max (played by McCormack). But I could be wrong. Doubtful though. I'm feeling pretty good about this one. Underwood's comeback is slated to air in December or January. Photo Credit: Louis-Dreyfus: Joseph Viles »

Review: The New Adventures of Old Christine - Dr. Little Man

22 October 2009 1:28 AM, PDT | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

(S05E05) This could turn out to be the single most important episode of The New Adventures of Old Christine. Dare I say it was "a very special episode of" The New Adventures of Old Christine? Oh, who am I kidding, things will never change, but isn't that why we love it.

It was a lot of fun seeing Eric McCormack as Matthew's mentor in therapy, as well as his office-mate. That's an easy way to set him up for a recurring role on the show for awhile. And they gave him a shady past, which is an easy way to write him off the show at a moment's notice.

He was there to give Christine someone new to bounce her craziness off of. I absolutely loved their first scene together. Christine all hopped up on diet pills from the '70s, dressed like Maude and working as a temporary fill-in as Matthew's secretary. »

Freddy Rorschach Kruger To Play Sinestro?

17 October 2009 4:54 AM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Grinding on the rumor mill… Harry over at Ain’t It Cool News is always popping up with some interesting rumors that, more often than not, prove to be true. Last time it was setting the story straight on the next Rambo movie and this time he’s going one better and calling the name of the person Green Lantern director Martin Campbell may be choosing to put on the yellow suit and purple make-up as Sinestro - none other than Jackie Earle Haley!

A few weeks back, Screen Rant’s Kofi Outlaw ran an article fantasy casting Sinestro and based on the feedback from our readers, Hugo Weaving was the favorite. Well, if you ever needed proof that Hollywood rarely pays attention to fans then this would be it. I trolled back through the comments and nowhere did anyone mention Jackie Earle Haley as a possible choice, oddly enough »

What's On: Eric McCormack Tries to Kill the Will Curse

30 September 2009 4:40 PM, PDT | Movieline | See recent Movieline news »

All NBC hits cast curses on their actors, dammit. Just ask Eric McCormack, who aside from his season-long USA dud Trust Me, has had to fill his post-Will & Grace TV work schedule with Monk guest appearances and an A&E miniseries. Finally though, McCormack has landed a gritty role in tonight's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit to really showcase his dramatic range and prove once and for all that he can play more than a happy-go-lucky gay lawyer. »

Will Hot Titles Spark a Studio Tiff War?

14 September 2009 9:00 AM, PDT | Movieline | See recent Movieline news »

· All is relatively quiet on the Tiff sales front, but that doesn't mean an avalanche of acquisitions couldn't crush us all at any minute. Variety names Cracks, Get Low, The Joneses, Harry Brown, Solitary Man, The Loved Ones, I Am Love and Chloe as the belles of the ball. The Reporter also mentions Lebanon and A Single Man. (Several of those were already called out by our top Tiff oddsmaker S.T.) To that list I'd add the British film The Disappearance of Alice Creed, a fiendishly entertaining little three-person/one-set crime puzzler that could have some nice commercial potential. [Variety]

Redford's first movie since 2007, Jeffrey Dean Morgan saves small town America, and Eric McCormack cons us all, as Hollywood Ink continues after the jump. »

Eric McCormack gets two projects

Eric McCormack has two projects lined up. At Lifetime the Emmy Award-winning actor will star in an original film about a con man called Clark Rockefeller. The story stars off with the German con artist Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter (McCormack) coming to U.S. soul in 1979 as a foreign exchange student. He used a series of aliases which included impersonating a Pentagon advisor as well as a talk show host among others. After he claimed to be Clark Rockefeller, heir to the famous dynasty, he became a fixture in Boson high society circles. He later married Sandra Boss, a millionaire with a Harvard Mba who was a partner at the well-known consulting firm McKinsey & Co. He lost custody of their daughter during a divorce and kidnapped the girl during a supervised visit in July last year. Movie Review: My One and Only (2009)

Mark Rendall, Renee Zellweger and Logan Lerman in My One and Only

Photo: Freestyle Releasing I guess I shouldn't be too surprised there is a mild bit of Oscar buzz surrounding Renee Zellweger and her performance in My One and Only, especially since it now seems as if every performance Zellweger gives is going to be no different than the last. She's been nominated before for doing the same thing, why not this time? Right? Of course, this is hardly a ringing endorsement, but I will admit My One and Only isn't the cliched tedium I expected it to be based on the film's generic trailer. Instead, it has several sweet family moments and an ending I really thought pulled things together nicely. As for Zellweger, she's perfectly fine, but she has done little to really impress me since Cold Mountain in 2003 and of course Chicago one year earlier. However, »

Take A RenéE Check

Flouncing across the country like Miss Piggy, Renée Zellweger makes "My One and Only" a fabulous bore.

At least now we have answer to the question, "Would a random scattering of anecdotes from the early life of George Hamilton make a decent movie?"

In 1953, young George (Logan Lerman) is an Upper West Side preppie who gets yanked out of school and taken on a road trip when his diva mom (Zellweger) catches his bandleader dad (Kevin Bacon) cheating on her.

DVD Playhouse—August 2009

By

Allen Gardner

Watchmen—Director’S Cut (Warner Bros.) Director Zack Snyder’s film of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ landmark graphic novel is as worthy an adaptation of a great book that has ever been filmed. In an alternative version of the year 1985, Richard Nixon is serving his third term as President and super heroes have been outlawed by a congressional act, in spite of the fact that two of the most high-profile “masks,” Dr. Manhattan (Billy Cruddup) and The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) helped the U.S. win the Vietnam War. When The Comedian is found murdered, many former heroes become concerned that a conspiracy is afoot to assassinate retired costumed crime fighters. Former masks Nite Owl (Patrick Wilson), Silk Spectre (Malin Akerman) and still-operating Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley, in an Oscar-worthy turn) launch an investigation of their own, all while the Pentagon’s “Doomsday »

Comic-Con 2009: Alien Trespass Panel

26 July 2009 2:14 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

The Alien Trespass panel opened with a pseudo-documentary describing how the film was made but due to changes at the studio back in the 1950s the completed film was shelved and never seen. It was really quite interestingly done and included interviews with Robert Patrick and Eric McCormack in grainy 1950s video talking about the film in a promotional interview format. It’s not done in tounge in cheek at all but very earnestly.

It cuts into a present day interview with a couple of construction workers who’ve discovered the film during an excavation, and then a couple of Hollywood producers arguing whether the print is in fact legitimate. From there we go to a very apparantly serious trailer for the film.

In attendance were Eric McCormack and director R.W. Goodwin. Eric said he stood in line for 20 minutes yesterday to get autographs from all the guys who do the voices in Spongebob Squarepants. »
