- As a lawman, Liddy had once participated in the arrest of LSD advocate Timothy Leary. When in prison as a result of his Watergate conviction, Liddy found himself locked up with Leary. They became friends. On their release, they both participated in "Return Engagement" (1983) a documentary about their friendship.
- Although frequently called a "government spook" he has in fact never served in the CIA.
