Kevin Smith’s upcoming Warner Bros’ police comedy “A Couple Of Dicks” has now changed it’s name to “Cop Out.” Smith told Entertainment Weekly the main reason for the switch was to allow for radio advertising before 9 pm, which would have been impossible with the title “A Couple of Dicks”. “Cop Out” stars Bruce Willis, Tracy Morgan, Jason Lee, Seann William Scott, Adam Brody, and Michelle Trachtenberg. the film is about a pair of cops (Willis and Morgan) tracking down a stolen baseball card and getting involved with gangsters, drug money, and a mysterious Mexican beauty. Warner Bros.' Kevin Smith cop comedy "A Couple of Dicks" has changed its title to "Cop Out." According to Variety, Kevin Smith revealed the name change last week. He said that the main reason for the switch was that Warner Brothers wanted to advertise the film on the major T.V. networks but were told that they couldn't run ads prior to 9 p.m. if the film was titled "A Couple of Dicks."The film is set to open in February and stars Bruce Willis, Tracy Morgan, Seann William Scott, Adam Brody, Jason Lee and Michelle Trachtenberg.Marc Platt is producing with Polly Johnsen and Michael Tadross. Kevin Smith's 'A Couple of Dicks' now called 'Cop Out'

28 December 2009 5:36 PM, PST | Movie Jungle | See recent Movie Jungle news »

Kevin Smith's comedy "A Couple of Dicks" has now been titled as "Cop Out." Personally, I think the former title is more like Kevin Smith's slap-in-the-face-style than the latter. Smith revealed the new name of the Warner Bros. Pictures' release prior to the "Cop Out" trailer beginning its debut in front of "Sherlock Holmes." According to sources, Smith told Entertainment Weekly that the key reason for the switch was that the studio wanted to advertise "Cop Out" on sports programs, however the major networks noted that they couldn't run adverts before 9 p.m. if the film kept the "A Couple of Dicks" title. "Cop Out" is se to open in February next year and stars Bruce Willis, Tracy Morgan, Seann William Scott, Adam Brody, Jason Lee and Michelle Trachtenberg. Marc Platt produces with Polly Johnsen and Michael Tadross. Robb and Marc Cullen wrote the screenplay which tells »

Best Films Of The Decade (aka The Naughties) From Alex & Terry

List # 1

By Alex Simon

When Terry and I initially discussed writing these lists, I had a tough time thinking back on 20 films over the past decade which I was really taken with, thinking that movies have sunk so low over the past ten years, that even choosing a dozen would be a short-order job. Thirty minutes into it, my list had nearly 60 titles! After much cutting, pasting, and re-cutting and pasting, here are my top 20 films (in no particular order) of the first decade of the 21st century, dubbed by many as “the naughties.” --A.S.

1.No Country for Old Men (Coen Brothers, 2007) An elegiac blend of stark beauty and full-throttle despair from two of our finest filmmakers, set in the contemporary American West. Every frame is damn near flawless, and would have been an even more perfect vehicle for the late Sam Peckinpah. »

Alvin and the Chipmunks 2: The Squeakquel is the second installment in the “Chipmunks” franchise. This movie hits it’s target market right where they intended, but, grown ups may not be so entertained.

When we catch up with our favorite talking rodents they are traveling the world on tour. Alvin, voiced by Justin Long, is the center of his own universe. While Simon, voiced by Matthew Gray Gubler, and Theodore, voiced by Jesse McCartney, are happy in the background playing the teammate’s roles. ‘Alvin And The Chipmunks’ 2 Movie Brought Laughs & Entertainment

26 December 2009 7:06 PM, PST | OnTheFlix | See recent OnTheFlix news »

'Alvin And The Chipmunks' 2 movie brought laughs & entertainment. 20th Century Fox's new "Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakuel" movie hit theaters this weekend. I just got through checking it out. Contrary to other reviews I read,it was quite entertaining and brought plenty of laughs and entertainment. It stars: Jason Lee, Justin Long, David Cross, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, Anna Faris, Christina Applegate, Amy Poehler, and Zachary Levi. In "Alvin and The Chipmunks: The squeakuel," the chipmunks are now being taken care of by Toby (Zachary Levi) because Dave is in the hospital. They now have to go to school, which seemed a bit too unrealistic, even for this type of movie, but oh well. »

Drop the 'Dicks' and You Have the Trailer for Kevin Smith's 'Cop Out'

24 December 2009 1:23 AM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

I was reading an interview with Kevin Smith over at Entertainment Weekly on how his buddy cop feature starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan at Warner Bros. went from the working title of A Couple of Dicks to Cop Out, and the short story is rather obvious and boring, but their attempt to get it worked out is a bit interesting. Before watching the trailer, here's a snippet: Warner Bros. decided, "Hey man, we'll call the networks and see if we're going to get any problems, months before the movie's ever going to come out." The top 3 networks -- CBS, ABC, NBC -- said we can't run one of your spots before 9 o'clock.

I'm like, "Well what about Inglourious Basterds?" And I guess, because of the spelling, they got away with it. So we were like, "Can we call it A Couple of D.I.C.s?" Because that's the proper acronym for detectives, »

Jackass Star Knoxville Goes with "Rocko" for New Baby Boy

Johnny Knoxville, real name Philip Clapp, and his girlfriend, Naomi Nelson, announced the arrival of their new son, Rocko Akira Clapp, born Sunday night in Los Angeles. While the name "Rocko" by no means ranks up there among the more bizarro celebrity baby names (e.g. Pilot Inspektor (son of Jason Lee), Prince Michael II (son of Michael Jackson), Kal-El (son of Nic Cage)), we can't help but wonder if Rocko Clapp is not the perfect name to be the star of Jackass 15 (you know it's never going away). Welcome to the world, Rocko. »

Critics Consensus: Sherlock Holmes Is Worth Investigating

23 December 2009 8:23 AM, PST | Rotten Tomatoes | See recent Rotten Tomatoes news »

This week at the movies, we've got a legendary detective (Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law); matriculating rodents (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, starring David Cross and Jason Lee); a middle aged love triangle (It's Complicated, starring Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin); turbulent business travel (Up in the Air, starring George Clooney and Vera Farmiga); and a directionless director (Nine, starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Penelope Cruz). What do the critics have to say? Known for his hyperkinetic lad pictures, Guy Ritchie may not seem like an obvious choice to direct a Sherlock Holmes adaptation, given that »

Review: Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel

23 December 2009 6:00 AM, PST | Slackerwood | See recent Slackerwood news »

Just in time for the holidays comes the latest animated movie featuring the furriest pop sensations of the last 50 years, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. Based on characters created by Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. in 1958, the singing group consists of three chipmunk brothers: Alvin, the lead of the group and the head troublemaker; Simon, the bespectacled nerdy intellectual; and Theodore, the chubby and gullible brother. The group is managed by Dave Seville, who also acts as a father figure to the young chipmunks.

In Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, an unfortunate accident leaves Dave(Jason Lee) laid up in Paris, so Alvin (Justin Long), Simon (Matthew Gray Gubler) and Theodore (Jesse McCartney) are left in the care of Dave Seville's twenty-something gamer nephew Toby (Zachary Levi).

Movie Review: “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel”

23 December 2009 5:02 AM, PST | screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news »

Seen on: December 19, 2009

The players: Director: Betty Thomas, Writers: Jon Vitti, Glenn Berger, Jonathan Aibel, Cast: Jason Lee, Zachary Levi, Anjelah Johnson, Wendie Malick, Justin Long

Facts of interest: None!

The plot: The chipmunks go to school and clash with the chipettes. That's all there is to say about this one.

Our thoughts: What can I say? I walked into “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” expecting a terrible sequel to a horrible first film, and that’s exactly what I got: an unnecessary follow-up about three annoying CGI creatures whose shrill voices and lack of brain nearly made my ears (and eyes) bleed. »

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel

Alvin and the Chipmunks:  The Squeakuel

Directed by:  Betty Thomas

Cast: Zachary Levi, David Cross, Jason Lee

Running Time: 1 hr 30 mins

Rating: PG

Release Date: December 23, 2009

Plot: After Dave (Lee) breaks most of his bones in an Alvin-related accident, the Chipmunks stay with Toby Seville (Levi).  While Dave’s away they take on new challenges like going to high school and facing off against new musical rivals/love interests, the Chipettes.

Who’S It For? Kids, specifically those old enough to sit through a movie but still young enough not to judge based on quality.

Expectations: Low.  The first film wasn’t as bad as I expected, but my expectations were so colossally low that they almost had to be beaten.  This one is a sequel, which tend to be worse than the film that precedes it.

Scorecard (0-10)

Actors:

Zachary Levi as Toby: I  love Zachary Levi in Chuck. »
