"Bitch Slap" is a new action film directed by Rick Jacobson, from a screenplay by Jacobson and Eric Gruendemann.
Described as a post-modern throwback to Russ Meyer, Roger Corman 'el cheapo' exploitation films of the 1950's-1970's, music for "Bitch Slap" was composed by John R. Graham with cinematography by Stuart Asbjornsen.
The film begins when three 'bad girls', including a stripper, drug-running killer and corporate powerbroker, arrive at a remote desert hideaway to extort a ruthless underworld boss.
"...Soon things quickly spin out of control as allegiances change, truths are revealed, other criminals arrive and the fate of the world hangs in the balance as the trio are forced to confront a villain much worse than they ever expected...themselves..."

Spartacus: Blood and Sand, the premium cable channel Starz's retelling of the Spartacus legend (from the creators of Xena: Warrior Princess and Legend of the Seeker), debuts January 22nd. The show's "name" actors are Lucy Lawless and The Mummy's John Hannah, and they both make very strong impressions, as does newcomer Andy Whitfield as Spartacus. This week, there's even a hot new exploitation flick opening, for those of you who like that sort of thing. So if you're not too excited about daybreaking vampires, leap years or youths in revolt, read on to see what other options you might have this weekend.
What it is: A modern, stylish exploitation action movie in the vein of "Grindhouse" and somewhat like "Sin City, »

****Warning*** This post reveals the identity of the gay character in the new Starz series Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Stop reading if you do not want to know their identity.
Anyone who knows even a little about ancient Rome, Greece, etc. knows that same-sex relationships were an integral part of those societies. Of course, that doesn't mean Hollywood hasn't usually chosen to ignore that particular aspect when doing movies or shows about the era. Think Russell Crowe's Gladiator or Gerard Butler's 300 which especially oozed homoeroticism without any actual homos. Meanwhile HBO's Rome included some girl/girl pairings but left out the guys.
Obviously, not every Roman epic need have "gay" content, but it would be nice if they were occasionally inclusive, not to mention historically accurate.
Fortunately, cable network Starz is about to the record straight -- so to speak.
