NAACP Image Award Nominations Announced: "Precious" Dominates, "Glee" and "Southland" Score

Precious leads with 8 nominations.

The NAACP Image Award nominations were released today, and out artists and gay favorites appeared in the television, writing, and movie categories.

Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' By Sapphire dominated the film categories, scoring eight total nominations, including Outstanding Motion Picture, Outstanding Independent Motion Picture, Outstanding Writing, Outstanding Lead Actress for Gabourney Sidibe, Outstanding Supporting Actor for Lenny Kravitz, and Outstanding Director for the out Lee Daniels.

Basketball Jones by the out E. Lynn Harris (deceased) and Before I Forget by the gay supportive Leonard Pitts, Jr. were nominated in the literature categories.

A favorite of our editor for never resorting to gay panic, Donald Faison.

In television, Donald Faison was nominated for his part in the bromance on Scrubs. Glee picked up a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series. America Ferrera picked up a Lead Actress in a Comedy nomination for Ugly Betty, while Vanessa Williams »

"Precious" Leads NAACP Image Awards Nominations

"Precious" leads the nominations for the 41st annual NAACP Image Awards earning eight noms including Best Director for Lee Daniels, Best Actress for Gabourey Sidibe, Supporting Actress for Mariah Carey, Monique, and Paula Patton, and Best Supporting Actor for Lenny Kravitz.

"Precious" also got nods for Outstanding Motion Picture and Outstanding Independent Film. Other films nominated were "Invictus," "Michael Jackson's This Is It," "The Blind Side," and "The Princess and the Frog."

Winners will be announced Feb. 26 on Fox.

The trailer for the upcoming Fox Searchlight’s comedy “Our Family Wedding” has appeared online.

Plot summary: Two overbearing fathers (Forest Whitaker and Carlos Mencia) must put aside their differences to plan the wedding of their son and daughter in less than two weeks.

Our Family Wedding” is directed by Rick Famuyiwa (Blacktop Lingo,The Wood, Brown Sugar), also stars America Ferrera, Regina King, Lance Gross,Taye Diggs, Fred Armisen and is scheduled to hit theaters on March 12th.

Welcome to the first edition of Gays of Our Lives for 2010. Happy New Year! We’ve got a lot for you this week, starting with the results of our second annual Best and Worst Poll. While most of the results may seem obvious, what might surprise you are my thoughts, which I will share as part of my own analysis of soaps in the past year.

In Gool Theater, we’ve got those wonderful clips from One Life to Live of Kyle and Oliver’s historic love making for those who missed it and those who want to see it again – and again and again. Plus, EastEnders gears up for Syed and Amira’s wedding as Christian plans to stop the ceremony, Adam starts to spread word of Aaron being gay on Emmerdale and Lucas and Noud have a horrible experience on Good Times, Bad Times (Dutch).
