Newlywed actor Vince Vaughn will tackle the topic of infidelity in a new comedy to be directed by Ron Howard.
The Wedding Crashers star, who married girlfriend Kyla Weber last weekend, is set to portray a man who discovers his best friend's wife is cheating in the upcoming movie.
It will be filmmaker Howard's first comedy in 11 years - he last made theatregoers giggle with Edtv in 1999 and has since become more well known for movies like A Beautiful Mind and Frost/Nixon, as well as bringing hit Dan Brown mystery/thriller books The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons to the big screen.
Vaughn will produce the project with Howard's Imagine Entertainment business partner Brian Grazer and shooting is set to begin in the spring, according to the Hollywood Reporter. »

Vince Vaughn and Ron Howard are going to tackle one of the thorniest social issues: the unfaithful best friend, on the big screen for Imagine Entertainment.
Producer Brian Grazer described the project to Variety as:
A man who learns that his best friend's wife is cheating and must then navigate treacherous waters to decide what do with that knowledge."
Allan Loeb will be writing the script, with Vaughn taking the lead, and Ron Howard behind the camera.
Sounds tempting!

Who knew Opie was so money? Even he didn’t know it, he was so money. Variety is reporting that director Ron Howard has committed to helm an untitled script from 21 and Wall Street 2 screenwriter Allan Loeb.
The film will be a comedic look at infidelity within a circle of friends and lovers. Universal is backing the project, and deals are being finalized for both Howard to direct and Vince Vaughn to star. Brian Grazer’s Image Entertainment and Vaughn’s Wild West Picture Show will also provide backing for the film.
While it is nice to see Howard getting back to his comedic roots, one has to wonder if he hasn’t gone too far into the dramatic realm to really make us laugh again. His last out-and-out comedy was 2000’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Some would say the last time Howard really made us laugh was »

If you don't count "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," Ron Howard's last stint directing comedy was 1999's "EdTV." The man behind classics like "Splash" and "Night Shift" will make a return to the genre for his next feature though, with an untitled vehicle for Vince Vaughn, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Vaughn and Brian Grazer will produce the movie, which was conceived by Grazer and scripted by Allan Loeb ("21").
Vaughn will play a man who finds out that his best friend's wife is having an affair. The question driving the plot is, of course, should he give his buddy the terrible news? Reportedly, Vaughn was interested in the project due to his favor for comedies that explore the dark sides of relationships. Past examples would include "The Break-Up" and "Couples Retreat."
I tend to prefer Vaughn in roles in which he's cynical about romance and marriage. Recall his hilariously »

Universal Pictures is developing a comedy with dramatic overtones that will star Vince Vaughn and be directed by Ron Howard (Angels & Demons, The Da Vinci Code). The untitled project is being fast tracked to start shooting sometime this spring.
Howard cut his directoral teeth by making comedies like Night Shift and Splash in the early 1980s and Vaughn has found success with audiences by starring in edgier laughers like The Break-Up and this past fall's Couples Retreat. The new project once again covers a relationship in trouble, this time following the story of what happens when Vaughn's character learns that his best friend's wife is cheating behind his buddy's back. After coming into such knowledge the question for the protagonist then becomes what to do with the information and if he should confront his friend's wife alone or tell his pal the devastating news.

Esteemed director Ron Howard has taken on the task of directing an as-yet untitled dramedy starring Vince Vaughn.
The film script has been penned by Allan Loeb (21, Things We Lost in the Fire), and tells the story of a man who finds out that his best friend's wife is cheating and so must then decide what do with the knowledge of that discovery. Vaughn created the story while working with Imagine's Brian Grazer.
This project will mark a return to comedy for Howard, who in recent years has focused on more sober fare such as Frost/Nixon, The Da Vinci Code and A beautiful mind, but his directorial credits on Night Shift, Splash and Parenthood show that he feels equally at ease with the funnies.

In a story from Variety, Universal Pictures has grabbed an untitled pitch from scribes Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland (Due Date directed by Todd Phillips). Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer is going to produce. The story of the pitch follows a man who was not popular as a kid. He goes home and is thought to be a popular classmate. He then gets to relive his youth as he is now the toast of the town. "In Due Date, we focused on the birth of a first child, and here, it is the high school experience, which forged this guy's limited future," Cohen said. "The early Imagine comedies like Splash and Night Shift were the reason we came here, so it was gratifying that Brian responded to the material." Freedland stated. »

Ron Howard will direct Vince Vaughn in an untitled dramedy written by Allan Loeb (21, Things We Lost in the Fire), about a "man who learns that his best friend's wife is cheating and must then navigate treacherous waters to decide what do with that knowledge." Vaughn came up with the idea with Imagine topper Brian Grazer. It will be strange to see Howard reverting back to his comedy background (Night Shift, Splash, Parenthood) especially since his recent years he's dealt mostly with more dramatic and action properties (Apollo 13, Ransom, A Beautiful Mind, The Missing, Cinderella Man, The Da Vinci Code, Frost/Nixon, Angels & Demons). And while he was the uncredited narrator and Executive Producer of the beloved comedy television series Arrested Development, his most recent comedy efforts, EDtv and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, were slammed by both critics and audiences. That said, I think Vaughn works best in »

Ron Howard and Vince Vaughn? Those two don't sound like they'd be friends. Variety's BFDealMemo is reporting that Ron Howard "has committed" to next direct Vince Vaughn in a currently untitled comedy written by Allan Loeb (Things We Lost in the Fire, 21, Wall Street 2). The film will be an exploration of the comedic fallout surrounding infidelity between lovers and friends. Sounds like it was kind of inspired by Tiger Woods. Universal is planning to start shooting in spring in Chicago. Brian Grazer, who "hatched" the idea, will produce with Vaughn and his Wild West Picture Show company. Are you interested in this yet? It doesn't sound like this is one of the eight scripts that Loeb has "in-development" on IMDb. THR explains the plot differently: "The story follows a man who learns that his best friend's wife is cheating and must then navigate treacherous waters to decide what »

There's a new Entertainment Tonight set visit from Robin Hood, and outside of things some of us probably don't care about - Cate Blanchett's wardrobe and Russell Crowe bringing his kids to the set - it's a good behind-the-scenes look at Ridley Scott's latest.
We learn a bit about the location Scott and company have chosen to create the village of Nottingham, and there's a little bit of action, too, captured by the Et cameras. We don't hear from Ridley Scott, but Brian Grazer makes an appearance. And wherever Brian Grazer goes, that hairstyle will follow. Crowe talks a little bit about his physical preparation for this role, and he hasn't had as much of that to do in recent years, not since the underrated Cinderella Man, anyway.
On the whole, it's a pretty good three minutes and change, especially if you've seen the trailers (both of which »
