Brian Grazer has teamed up with Universal to produce Richard Regen’s script “Tehran,” according to Variety.
The film centers on an American professor who is hired by the government to examine tensions in pre-coup Tehran in 1977. He later falls for an Iranian girl whose brother is with the secret police.
Regen also created TV’s “Secret Agent Man” and recently penned “Panic,” a thriller for the Weinstein Co.
Brian Grazer’s producing credits include “A Beautiful Mind,” “Cinderella Man” and “American Gangster.”

Robert Downey Jr. is set to bring a 10-year-old sci-fi movie idea to the big screen after negotiating to star in Cowboys and Aliens.
The Iron Man star is in talks to sign on to the film, about an alien spaceship that lands in the Wild West, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Brian Grazer and Ron Howard will produce the film, which has been in development for a decade.

Coming off the highly-successful Iron Man film, Robert Downey, Jr. is very much in demand. In fact, an offer recently surfaced for him to play none other than the ultimate Playboy Hugh Hefner himself in a biographical movie set to film as soon as a script is developed.
The Chicago Sun-Times report that Hugh Hefner was impressed by Downey’s work on Iron Man, and would like to sign Downey on to play Hefner in a biographical movie entitled “Playboy.”
Moreover, reports say that the setting of the film will be in Chicago, where the real life Playboy had its roots. The 82-year-old founder also grew up in Galewood and began the magazine there before he moved it to California. Hefner, who early in his college years began writing and working for magazines, launched the Playboy magazine in 1953, with its first issue in December of that year. The issue had Marilyn Monroe on the cover,

Robert Downey Jr. has been tipped to play legendary porn mogul Hugh Hefner in a big-screen biopic - after reportedly impressing the Playboy entrepreneur with his lead role in Iron Man.
Veteran lothario Hefner was so pleased with the former hellraiser's portrayal of wealthy playboy Tony Stark in this year's comic blockbuster, he is desperate to sign him up for the role.
According to Illinois newspaper the Chicago Sun-Times, Hefner wants Downey Jr. to start shooting the movie - entitled Playboy - next summer.
And the Golden Globe-winner is said to be keen to take on the role of Hefner - as long as the script is right.
Apollo 13 filmmaker Brian Grazer has already been signed up as the film's producer, according to the publication.

In 2006, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard decided to open The Da Vinci Code at Cannes, which actually made some sense. The Pg-13-rated film was set in France, with a chunk of the film being shot in the Louvre Museum.
