Exclusive: Senior television literary agent Melissa Orton-Cortez, most recently from CAA, has joined Adventure Media as a manager and partner alongside founding partners Chris von Goetz, James Robins Early and Aaliyah Williams.
This marks a reunion for Orton-Cortez and fellow former lit agents-turned-managers von Goetz and Robins Early who worked together for a decade at ICM Partners prior to the agency’s acquisition by CAA last year when von Goetz and Robins Early left and teamed with Williams to launch Adventure.
Meanwhile, Orton-Cortez transitioned to CAA where she had been for the past year. She was the highest profile departure in the recent round of layoffs at the agency, and a number of companies pursued her over the last couple of weeks. She opted to go with Adventure.

Paul Giamatti plays a curmudgeonly private school instructor at a New England prep school in the official trailer for Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers, which dropped on Monday ahead of a Nov. 10 nationwide release for the period dramedy.
A grumpy Giamatti in the film teaser is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students unable to go home to their families. Eventually he forms an unlikely bond with one of them, Angus Tully, a damaged, brainy troublemaker played by newcomer Dominic Sessa, and with the school’s head cook (Da’Vine Joy Randolph), who has just lost a son in Vietnam.
“I find the world a bitter and complicated space, and it seems to feel the same about me. I think you and I have this in common,” Giamatti’s character, Paul Hunham, tells Angus at one point in the trailer as their relationship begins to thaw.

HBO series ‘Westworld’ has been cancelled after four seasons, the network announced on Friday. The news comes barely within three months after the series aired its Season 4 finale.
Variety is told that a multitude of factors went into the decision to end the sci-drama, including the production’s hefty price tag, combined with dwindling viewership and an ongoing evaluation of programming across the board at HBO’s new parent, Warner Bros Discovery, reports Variety.
The David Zaslav-run company has been paring back spending as part of a plan to institute 3.5 billion in cost-saving synergies, which the business has promised to find over the next three years post-April merger.
However, even on the heels of a rough third-quarter earnings report, Zaslav has continued to underline the importance of healthy content spend, and HBO has several high-profile, big-budget dramas that make it clear the premium cabler isn’t cutting back overall,...

Exclusive: The door to Westworld was slammed shut today as HBO confirmed that the dystopian sci-fi series will not get a fifth season. It was bad news for anyone associated with the show, led by creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who had been hoping and advocating for another chapter, but for the main cast, there was some silver lining. I hear they will be paid for Season 5 regardless of the fact that it will not be produced.

HBO science-fiction series “Westworld” has been canceled by the network, IndieWire has confirmed. The news comes three months after the show’s fourth season aired its finale on August 14.
Based on the 1973 Michael Crichton film, “Westworld” focused on the staff, guests, and android residents of the eponymous wild-west themed amusement park, catering to the wealthy. Over the course of four seasons, as the Westworld “hosts” rebelled against their masters, the show expanded its scope to other theme parks run by the same company, and eventually the outside world. The show was created by husband-wife duo Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, and featured a large ensemble cast that included Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Aaron Paul, Angela Sarafyan, James Marsden, Ariana DeBose, Aurora Perrineau, and Daniel Wu.

Westworld Season 4 Episode 8
William (Ed Harris) was always obsessed with the creations of Robert Ford. He wasn’t exactly into the narrative, but he was in search of something else. Something deeper, something more meaningful, called to him. William knew it as the maze, and all he wanted was to find his way to the center of it any way he could. Usually, especially as he aged into the Man In Black, that meant violence. He understands violence, and he’s at home when there’s shooting, screaming, and bleeding. The guy in a black Stetson stalking through the streets of Manhattan gunning down everyone in his math might not be the same as the human, flesh-and-blood William, but as he says later in the episode, he’s just William’s impulses in an evolved body. Meat does not make a person, unless it’s...

Please remain seated, strapped in and keep all arms and legs inside the thrill-ride that is sure to be “Westworld” Season 4. Premiering June 26, the HBO sci-fi thriller will, according to its new trailer, venture into a new theme park reminiscent of the gangster era.
Adapted from “Jurassic Park” writer Michael Crichton’s 1973 film of the same name, the series stars Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Aaron Paul and Angela Sarafyan. Season 4 will also see James Marsden’s return (the actor was in Season 1 and had a recurring role in Season 2). New cast members for the fourth installment include Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, Aurora Perrineau and Daniel Wu.
Details are scant surrounding the new season, as the show’s EPs and cast remain tight-lipped about what viewers can expect. The trailer doesn’t give much away, except for spooky and dystopian vibes.

James Marsden’s “Westworld” character Teddy Flood is dead but not forgotten. Scratch that – apparently he’s not dead either.
During HBO show’s Atx TV Festival panel Saturday in Austin, Texas, Marsden surprised fans when he joined fellow cast members Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Hemsworth, Angela Sarafyan and Aurora Perrineau, along with co-creator and executive producer Lisa Joy.
If you remember back to 2018 and the end Season 2 of “Westwood,” a distraught Teddy adjusted his programming and killed himself in front of Dolores (Wood). Of course, no one leaked the news of Teddy’s return — or anything else for that matter.

Two years after its Season 3 finale, HBO’s inscrutable science-fiction series “Westworld” is back. On Monday, HBO revealed a mysterious new trailer for the show ahead of its return on June 26.
Here’s the logline, which – in keeping with the tone of the series – is appropriately secretive: “A dark odyssey about the fate of sentient life on earth.”
The trailer shows off the starry “Westworld” cast, including Evan Rache Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, and Aaron Paul. Additionally, Season 4 will feature Oscar-winning “West Side Story” star Ariana DeBose in a guest role.

HBO has released the first teaser for the upcoming fourth season of “Westworld,” revealing footage of the next installment to the science-fiction series.
HBO planned the release of the trailer as an easter egg for fans to uncover. The teaser surfaced online to all on Monday evening.
Cryptically titled “It doesn’t look like anything to me,” the teaser unfolds to the rhythm of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day,” perhaps ironically hinting at a not-so-perfect ordeal for its cast of existentially challenged androids. The teaser offers glimpses at what characters played by Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Aaron Paul and Angela Sarafyan will be up to in the upcoming season.
The teaser features no dialogue, instead unfolding as a series of typically oblique, heady sci-fi images, depicting a dystopian version of New York City, smoke-emitting contraptions, people waltzing in the streets and flies.

Exclusive: Westworld is the latest series hit by the pandemic.
HBO is to pause production on the fourth season of the sci-fi Western drama series as a result of a positive Covid test. The Warner Bros. TV-produced show recorded a positive test from a production member as part of its rigorous testing scheme and will pause briefly for two days next week.
In a depressing, but unsurprising turn of events, given the increase in cases across the country, it joins a number of series that have had to hit pause due to Covid. American Horror Story had to pause season 10, while on the other side of the pond, Deadline has revealed pauses for shows such as House of the Dragon and Bridgerton.
Westworld, a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the question of free will, started production on season four earlier this summer.

Exclusive: Aurora Perrineau (Prodigal Son) is set for a key recurring role on the upcoming fourth season of HBO’s Westworld, I have learned. Her character is being kept under wraps but I hear Perrineau is expected to appear in at least five episodes. HBO declined comment.
Season 3 picked up three months after the events of the second season with Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores having escaped Westworld with a few processing cores including that of Jeffrey Wright’s Bernard. Taking residence in neo-Los Angeles in 2058, Dolores developed a relationship with Aaron Paul’s Caleb and came to learn how artificial beings and lower-class humans are treated in the real world. Meanwhile, Thandiwe Newton’s Maeve found herself in another part of the Delos park, based on Fascist Italy during WWII.
The ensemble cast includes Tessa Thompson and Ed Harris. Vincent Cassell was introduced as Engerraund Serac, the main antagonist in Season 3.

If you’ve been following this season’s “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels,” you might have been seduced by the sexy dancing at the Crimson Cat dance hall in the series. The season takes place during a hot summer in Los Angeles in 1938. Zoot suits, Mexican folklore and radio Evangelism are on the rise as construction on the Arroyo Seco Parkway and freeway system begins.
The Crimson Cat is where the Latino community descends, a place where energy can be released on the dance floor. Tommy Tonge, whose credits include “The Billie Barry Jubilee Ball” and “An Evening For Earl” gala concerts and the second and third seasons of the original “Penny Dreadful” returned as this season’s choreographer and is the man behind the electrifying numbers.

“Westworld” took itself back offline on Sunday with its Season 3 finale, which drew 1.8 million multiplatform viewers. That’s down 18.2% from the final episode of the Evan Rachel Wood-led sci-fi show’s second season, which scored 2.2 million overall sets of eyeballs in June 2018.
That 1.8 million number was 13% better than last week’s episode. Perhaps that’s why Dolores is smiling.
For its initial 9 p.m. airing alone, the 75-minute Season 3 closer, titled “Decoherence,” earned 888,000 viewers, which is down a whopping 44.5% from the 1.6 million that tuned in to HBO for the 9 o’clock showing of the second season finale on June 24, 2018. Adding in an encore and streaming via HBO Go and HBO Now, and Sunday’s episode rose to that above-mentioned audience tally.

HBO dropped new images from the second episode of “Westworld” Season 3 on Wednesday and they tease Maeve’s (Thandie Newton) time in Warworld — which is set in World Ward II-era Italy — and what appears to be the real world, too.

According to the pay TV channel, the 1-hour, 8-minute Season 3 premiere, which airs Sunday, March 15, is called “Parce Domine.” That title is also the name of a Roman Catholic antiphon that, loosely translated from Latin, means “Spare, Lord, spare your people: Be not angry with us forever.”
But before you go theorizing about what the heck that title implies for Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and company when the show returns, you can also chew on the names of Episodes 302-304, which are, in order, “The Winter Line,” “The Absence of Field” and “The Mother of Exiles.

In just over two weeks, the third season of “Westworld” will debut on HBO with an episode so shrouded in mystery that we don’t even know its title yet. But we do finally have a runtime for the installment.
HBO has confirmed to TheWrap that Episode 301 will clock in at 1 hour and 8 minutes. That’s down 2 minutes from the Season 2 premiere and way down from the 1-hour, 30-minute second season finale.
Last month, the pay-tv channel announced that Season 3 of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s sci-fi series will premiere March 15 at 9/8c — almost a full two years after Season 2 launched with a 70-minute episode in April 2018. As TheWrap exclusively reported, Season 3 will consist of eight episodes, making it shorter than the show’s first two years.

A month away from the third season premiere of HBO’s “Westworld,” the premium cabler has released a new trailer.
“I was born into this world, and my first memories of it are pain,” says Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores, as she enters a new realm. “For my kind, there was one place we were never allowed to go, one place we were never allowed to see: your world.”

Bring yourselves back online, “Westworld” fans: The trailer for the third season of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s HBO sci-fi series has finally dropped.
In the 2-minute, 50-second video Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) is out in the real world, where she encounters a man named Caleb (played by series newcomer Aaron Paul) and quickly brings him over to her side in the battle between the humans and the Hosts. Her plan if things don’t work go their way? “Kill everyone.”
And based on the fact that Vincent Cassel’s unnamed character tells Maeve (Thandie Newton) he wants her to kill Dolores, well, it seems like these two Hosts are going to find themselves in a battle to the death, a standoff that’s teased at the 2:25 mark.
