The live event was hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, and saw Kim Kardashian, Nikki Glaser, Robert Kraft, Jeff Ross, and Will Ferrell take the stage to brutally roast Brady about all aspects of his life. Hart first mocked Brady about Bündchen’s new boyfriend, her jiu-jitsu coach Joaquim Valente. Glaser also made fun of Brady’s divorce: “You have seven rings. Well, eight now that Gisele gave hers back.

The Minions are going Marvel for Illumination‘s Despicable Me 4 by getting the Super Soldier treatment in a new trailer! It’s been roughly two years since Minions: The Rise of Gru, and younger generations are clamoring for more outlandish antics from Gru’s pill-shaped helpers with a penchant for madness. The new film introduces another addition to the chaotic-good family, with Gru and Lucy welcoming a son. He’s a mama’s boy through and through, but that won’t keep Gru from vying for his love and adoration.
Despicable Me 4 finds Steve Carell reprising his role as the reformed villain Gru. Throughout the Despicable Me series of films, Gru has left a life of villainy behind in favor of becoming a father, husband, and secret agent. Of course, Gru’s hapless yet helpful helpers, the Minions, will also return in the sequel. Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin,...

Jeff Ross is giving his take on The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady and that particular moment when the former NFL star got out of his seat after a joke about Robert Kraft.
As the “Roastmaster General” on the Netflix comedy special, Ross was tasked to roast Brady and took a shot at the New England Patriots owner.
“So Tom became a Patriot and moved up to New England, and on the first day of training camp, that scrawny rookie famously walked into the owner Robert Kraft‘s office and said, ‘I’m the best decision your organization has ever made. Would you like a massage?’” Ross joked.

If there’s any truth to the old adage that history happens first as tragedy and then as farce, it was fitting that years of media sniping and public relitigation of the New England Patriots’ six Super Bowl wins culminated in Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and Robert Kraft doing shots together at a Netflix comedy festival.
When 9,100 fans made the trek to Los Angeles’ Kia Forum for “The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady” (stylized as “The G.R.O.A.T”), they likely expected the mix of vicious insult comedy and cringe-inducing rebuttals that powered years of Comedy Central roasts. This is not the documentary renaissance we hoped for. Despite its 2023 Oscar win for “Navalny,” CNN pulled back on non-fiction production. Non-fiction programming at Showtime Networks, which produced Oscar-nominated “Attica” in 2022, is no more.
“The New York Times Presents” series, which produced titles like “The Killing of Breonna Taylor” and “Framing Britney Spears,” is being phased out in favor of integrating non-fiction video into the media brand. Hot Docs is on the ropes; Participant, which produced documentaries like “An Inconvenient Truth,” “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed,” and “American Factory,” closed last month.
And then there’s Netflix, which is still very much in the documentary game under Adam Del Deo, Netflix VP of original documentary films and limited series — and can afford to be with nearly 270 million global subscribers. However, it’s a specific sort of gameplay: For tight, high-quality nonfiction work that’s heartwarming, or thrilling, or stars a celebrity,...

I’ll never think about coyotes the same way again.
That was a big takeaway from the silly, weird first night of John Mulaney’s multi-night Netflix special, “Everybody’s in LA.” The week-long residency/miniseries/experiment was ostensibly created as additional promo for Netflix’s own Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival in Los Angeles, which is going on right now. Thirty+ comedians are in town with something to promote — why not take advantage of it by giving Mulaney an hour to chat up his friends, the thinking goes, while Netflix continues to play around with live programming?
Based on the first episode, which aired May 1 (additional episodes will air May 6 through 10), the program has the feel of a late-night public access show (complimentary). After kicking things off with an opening monologue full of great LA jokes — “The city was officially founded in 1842 as a place for improv students...

Tom Brady took the jokes in stride at his roast — well, most of them.
Amid jabs about Gisele Bündchen, deflategate and his good looks Sunday night, Brady bristled at one in particular, aimed at the Patriots’ 82-year-old owner, Robert Kraft.
During his turn onstage, Jeff Ross quipped: “So Tom became a Patriot and moved up to New England, and on the first day of training camp, that scrawny rookie famously walked into the owner Robert Kraft‘s office and said, ‘I’m the best decision your organization has ever made. Would you like a massage?’”
Brady then approached Ross, who’d blown a kiss Kraft’s way, and said in his ear: “Don’t say that shit again.” Ross replied, “Ok, Ok. He’s having fun, look at him. I love what you do for the Jews, Robert Kraft. You’re incredible.”

The UK sports media have got excited this weekend with reports that Will Ferrell is the latest movie star to bring his celebrity, and his wallet, to English football.
The Sun newspaper was the first to print its exclusive that the Elf star had bought a “large stake” in Leeds United Football Club after falling in love with the British game, and other UK media have been swift to pick up the story.
While Leeds Fc have refused to confirm Ferrell’s arrival in its boardroom, saying they never comment on individual stakeholders, The Sun reports that the comedic actor had paid the club’s US owners 49ers Enterprises, that his involvement will be unveiled in a few days and quotes an insider confirming: “It’s true – Will Ferrell owns a share of Leeds. There’s a moment in the first episode of Everybody’s in L.A., John Mulaney’s delightfully chaotic live Netflix special, in which Mulaney asks special guest Jerry Seinfeld why he decided to make his Pop-Tarts origin movie Unfrosted (which was released on — you guessed it — Netflix the same day Mulaney’s special aired, because there’s nothing more on-brand for a special about Los Angeles culture than cross-promotional synergy) .
“I don’t know. Because they let me,” Seinfeld responds, referring to Netflix. “Probably the same reason why you’re doing this.

Los Angeles is not the first city fans would associate with comedian John Mulaney. That would be Chicago, his hometown and the backdrop to innumerable childhood anecdotes in his stand-up act, or New York, where he broke out as a writer on “Saturday Night Live” and shot a special at Radio City Music Hall. But L.A. is where Mulaney now lives; it’s also currently home to the second iteration of Netflix Is a Joke, a massive, weeklong comedy festival organized by the streaming service as a show of genre dominance. (Netflix stand-up head Robbie Praw used to run programming at Montreal’s vaunted Just for Laughs event and has essentially created a West Coast version.) And so we have “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA,” a weeklong special event combining studio segments, pre-taped sketches and man-on-the-street interviews into a sort of pop-up talk show.

Noted talk-show host Jimmy Fallon would have had a completely different life if he had picked up on a hint years ago. The SNL alum was reportedly blindsided when actress Nicole Kidman brought up a ‘date’ they had back when she was single after her divorce from Tom Cruise. Fallon reportedly did not know that it was a date.
The talk-show host later revealed that he was extremely embarrassed by the revelation, which came after Kidman married country rockstar Keith Urban. Fallon also revealed that in the years since Kidman’s confession, the crush has become a running joke between the three and has even led Fallon to prank Kidman.

Is there a rule book for comedy? It’s a question igniting fiery debates, especially in today’s era of “cancel culture” dictating the dos and don’ts of stand-up. But for Tony Hinchcliffe, the idea of conforming to these restrictions is as likely as finding a unicorn at a rodeo.
“There’s no room for victim mentality here,” Hinchcliffe tells Variety. “When you step into a dark, dingy comedy club, what do you want to see? Think about it like a strip club. Do you want to see girls in a dress? Or do you want to see nasty fucking shit? You want ping-pong balls flying at your head.”
Hinchcliffe sits back in a golden chair for his Zoom interview, rocking a plain white T-shirt and basketball shorts, reminiscing about his days as the class clown. He was born and raised on the rough and tumble streets of Youngstown,...

Leanne Morgan is set to star in a multi-cam comedy series at Netflix that boasts Chuck Lorre as one of its co-creators, Variety has learned.
Morgan co-created the series with Lorre and Susan McMartin. Netflix has given the untitled show a 16-episode order, while also commissioning two more stand up specials from Morgan. That will mark her second and third specials at the streamer following 2023’s “I’m Every Woman.”
“I’ve dreamed of this since childhood, and I can’t believe it has come true! When I started comedy 25 years ago, my goal was to be a part of a sitcom,” Morgan said. “It just goes to show you it’s never too late, and dreams do come true. I’m a grandmama from Tennessee, and now I have a TV show with Chuck Lorre and Netflix. What in the world!?”

Netflix is investing in Leanne Morgan.
The streamer has handed out a 16-episode, straight-to-series order for an untitled multicamera comedy starring the stand-up comedian. Comedy kingpin Chuck Lorre (Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men) co-created the series alongside Morgan and Susan McMartin.
Netflix says the untitled comedy revolves around Leanne, whose life “takes an unexpected turn when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and Jell-o salad.”

"Zoolander 2" didn't have the best debut back in 2016. The sequel to Ben Stiller's 2001 comedy classic made just $55 million worldwide on a $50 million budget. Considering movies generally need to double their budget in order for the studio to start seeing a return on investment, that isn't all that great. Such a poor box office showing was made worse by the critical response, with the film currently sitting at a dismal 22% on Rotten Tomatoes. Indeed, /Film's review criticized "Zoolander 2" for being as stupid and out of touch as Derek Zoolander himself.
There was no reason why "Zoolander 2" needed to be as bad as it was, though. The sequel reassembled the stars of the original, with Stiller joined by Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell. Like its predecessor, the film also featured multiple celebrity cameos, including one particularly distasteful turn from Benedict Cumberbatch as a non-binary character. Okay, maybe there...

Ben Stiller’s Zoolander is an infinitely quotable cult classic among comedy aficionadoes, and a sequel should have been easier to pull off than turning left. Still, the film failed epically, creating a reckoning for Stiller. Speaking with David Duchovny on the actor’s Fail Better podcast, Stiller says he was “blindsided” by the box office bombing of Zoolander 2 after thinking it would surprise fans more than David Bowie’s cameo in the original film.
“I thought everybody wanted this,” Stiller said about the sequel to his 2001 meme-worthy comedy. “And then it’s like, ‘Wow, I must have really f—ed this up. Everybody didn’t go to it. And it’s gotten these horrible reviews.”
“It really freaked me out because I was like, ‘I didn’t know it was that bad?’ ” Stiller continued. “What scared me the most on that one was I’m losing what I think what’s funny,...

It’s been less than 12 years since Dan Stevens raised a middle finger to the British aristocracy, quitting “Downton Abbey” as the show neared its Emmy-amassing zenith and setting sail for America with his family. As he admits, he had “absolutely no idea” what was going to happen to him.
“There was no roadmap,” the 41-year-old actor explains with frank honestly about a decision that, at the time, was considered by many to be sheer lunacy. “I left ‘Downton’ with a blank slate. It was just, ‘I think I want to do other things.’ But I didn’t know what that looked like.”
To have an idea of what that currently looks like, anyone need just head to their nearest cinema, where Stevens is going head-to-head against himself in two of the biggest studio releases of the season. In what has become something of a calling card for the Brit...

In it, Gru (Steve Carell) teams with the villainess Poppy (Joey King) to steal a honey badger from a castle/private school. Two Minions and Gru’s baby son Junior are in tow. Calamity ensues as the honey badger awakes and creates havoc, with Gru getting hit in the butt with a tranquilizer shot.
Illumination Boss Chris Meledandri introduced the clip today at the Caesars Colosseum, thanking exhibitors for the sleeper success of his animation studio’s Migration ($293 million in box office).
“In case of any doubt, our commitment to produce original animation film remains steadfast,” said Meledandri.

‘Despicable Me 4’ CinemaCon Footage: Gru Pulls Off ‘Mission: Impossible’ Heist Armed With Diaper Bag
Gru, the recovering supervillain turned huggable and lovable dad, is back in action.
Universal premiered a new sequence from “Despicable Me 4,” the latest installment in the studio and its partner Illumination’s long-running animated franchise, at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Wednesday. It featured an aspiring villainess (Joey King) as well as a new addition to the Gru family — Gru Jr., who bears a strong resemblance to his beak-nosed namesake — as they attempted a “Mission: Impossible” style heist of a heavily fortified castle. The only problem is Gru’s assistants, the Minions, brought the wrong equipment. Instead of his gear and gadgets, he is armed with only a diaper bag. That means Gru is left to deal with lasers, guards and a vicious honey badger with only diaper rash cream, baby bottles and a pacifier to protect him. It doesn’t help that Gru Jr. keeps crawling around, inadvertently setting off booby traps.

Conan O’Brien returned to The Tonight Show last night, reflecting with host Jimmy Fallon about his time on NBC’s late-night shows. The comedian hosted Late Night for 16 seasons from 1993 to 2009, before briefly helming The Tonight Show from 2009 to 2010, when he was fired.
“It’s weird to come back,” O’Brien said. “I haven’t been in this building for such a long time, and I haven’t been on this floor in forever. I was here for 16 years doing the Late Night show before we went out to LA.
