What exactly is BASEketball anyway? If you’re a child of a certain era, you know exactly what it is. If not, well, let me explain. In the late nineties, the hottest comic duo was no doubt Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Together, they had charted a unique path to stardom. Two University Of Colorado grads, the two had their beginnings in the early nineties when they made a micro-budget indie called Cannibal: The Musical, which, despite failing to get into the Sundance Film Festival, became kind of a calling card for them. It got them a unique job directing a corporate film about Universal Pictures for Seagrams, who were acquiring the company, thanks to the patronage of David Zucker, one of the directors behind The Naked Gun, Top Secret and Airplane, who was a fan of their movie. They parlayed their success into a low-budget comedy called Orgazmo, which...

Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s Team America: World Police is debuting on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format: more here.
For their cinematic follow up to South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, writers and directors Trey Parker and Matt Stone decided it’d be a good idea to make a film with puppets. As we covered in a Film Stories podcast episode before, they would soon appreciate just how difficult it was to do.
The film that resulted from their labours was Team America: World Police, a brutally funny comedy action satire, with some memorable songs in the midst of it too. Originally released in 2004, to now mark the 20th birthday of the film, it’s got a 4K makeover, and is coming to the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format for the first time.
We’ve got Paramount to thank for this, who is issuing the film on 24th June 2024 on the format.

Eric Cartman’s shocking moments in South Park are some of the most outrageous depictions on television. The character created by South Park creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, is easily the most controversial and favorite character of the adult animated sitcom. He carried the show from the get-go with an obscene narrative in the premiere episode, “Cartman Get an Anal Probe.” From farting fire and ejecting an alien machine through his rectum in the first episode, Eric Theodore Cartman has personified everything wrong and inappropriate since the show’s debut in August 1997. The character has evolved beyond hating Jews, Gingers,

On June 30, 1999, creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker unleashed their wildly popular South Park characters on the big screen for the first time, holding up a mirror to society with their razor-sharp wit and asking the all-important question: “What would Brian Boitano do?” Twenty-five years later, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut remains as irreverent, insightful, and hilarious as ... Paramount Global is planning a suite of streaming channel for South Park fans to launch on the ad-based service Pluto TV in international markets.
The series, from creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, has aired 26 seasons on Comedy Central and spawned a 1999 theatrical feature, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. Now Pluto TV is doubling down on the South Park brand by creating a dedicated main channel across all international markets where the AVOD streaming platform is active.
Studio execs note the expansion of the South Park Universe on Pluto TV outside of the U.S. does not represent new content, as it will instead make the existing animated series more widely available on the ad-based streaming platform.
The studio also plans a series of monthly South Park-themed channels across Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Canada, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Latin America and Australia. As the South Park series expands on Pluto TV,...

We all know Trey Parker and Matt Stone from South Park, but what about all that came before it? Sure, some of us may have checked out Orgazmo to get an idea of what the boys were up to and maybe you even tracked down Cannibal! The Musical. But only the true die hard Parker and Stone fans have seen Your Studio and You. Styled after industrial movies of the 1950s – which would guide viewers through the process of any given corporation – Your Studio and You gives us a glimpse inside of Universal Studios…with exactly the sort of humor that fans would expect from Parker and Stone.
Released in 1995, Your Studio and You was a commissioned piece from David Zucker, who would go on to direct Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s BASEketball. Meant for internal studio use only, the 14-minute short begins by poking fun at “classic talking...

Just over a week after J. Cole apologized for his Kendrick Lamar diss track, “7 Minute Drill,” Drake has come to the table with one of his own. Titled “Push Ups (Drop & Give Me 50),” the track first leaked online over the weekend. On Monday, Drake all but confirm it’s legitimacy by posting a meme video to Instagram featuring producer Metro Boomin superimposed into a scene from the movie Drumline, referencing a lyric from “Push Ups.”
Hip-hop’s latest feud all began with Drake and Cole’s 2023 hit “First Person Shooter,” which saw J. Cole declare that he, Drake, and Kendrick made up hip-hop’s so called “Big Three.” Lamar struck back with a surprise verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s song “Like That,” saying “Motherfuck the Big 3, n***a it’s just big me.” Cole responded with his own diss track, “7 Minute Drill,” but later apologized for its release...

The film is slated to open on July 4, 2025 and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures. It faces some stiff competition. Universal is scheduled to release “Jurassic World 4” on July 2 and Warner Bros. and DC are planning to debut James Gunn’s “Superman” a few days later on July 11. “We’re excited to co-host this year’s Magic of Music Gala and perform songs from our cabaret show,” said Lynch and Flannery. “Alzheimer’s is a devastating disease that deserves our critical attention.

There wasn't a more popular or influential (or controversial) sitcom in the 1970s than "All in the Family." Created by Norman Lear, the series was a stingingly hilarious satire of American attitudes as the country adjusted to the post-Civil Rights Movement era and coped with the increasingly unpopular Vietnam War.
The genius of "All in the Family" was Lear's ability to make every single one of his main characters behave ridiculously without becoming full-on caricatures. Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor) was an unrepentant bigot, his wife Edith (Jean Stapleton) was a well-meaning ditz, his daughter Gloria (Sally Struthers) was a work-in-progress idealist who went from dopey to fairly sharp as the series progressed, and his son-in-law Michael "Meathead" Stivic represented everything Archie hated about liberals in one preachy package. We all saw a bit of ourselves and the people we have no choice but to call family in the Bunkers, and...

The humble beginnings of Matt Stone and Trey Parker's "South Park" are nothing short of inspiring, with two friends crafting a stop-motion short film that would evolve into one of the most popular and longest-running shows in television history. "The Spirit of Christmas" was first released in 1992 (colloquially referred to as "Jesus vs. Frosty") and again in 1994 as a Christmas card (colloquially known as "Jesus vs. Santa" to differentiate) Fox executive Brian Graden had commissioned to send to his friends. Parker and Stone then developed the characters and the mountain town setting into what would become "South Park," and the rest is history.
This timeline certainly makes "South Park" sound like one of those dreamy Hollywood Cinderella stories in which two unknown comedy animators were plucked from obscurity to become billionaires and one award shy of earning Egot status. However, this narrative ignores the countless other projects -- both...

Just weeks ago, Sir Elton John became the 19th entertainer to win the highly desirable Egot by claiming his first ever Emmy Award. And now, which person is the most likely to be the 20th Egot later this year, in 2025 or beyond? Here is a summary of the 80 people who have the best chance right now.
The most likely duo could be composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (actually meaning a 20th and 21st Egot if they win). They are producers and songwriters for the third season of “Only Murders in the Building,” so they will have a couple of opportunities in September at the Emmys. They first won an Oscar, Tony, and Grammy.
For the 2024 Grammys, nobody is nominated who could become an Egot, so the next possible chance would be 2025. There are a total of 25 people who have won everything needed except a Grammy. They are actress Ellen Burstyn,...

Only three years before he was trapped in Arizona by a kingdom of tarantulas and a mere five years before he played James T. Kirk in Star Trek‘s first motion picture, William Shatner starred in the low budget thriller Impulse. And thanks to the team at Grindhouse Releasing, the world can finally witness another Shatner joint in all its restored 4k glory.
So does good ole’ Bill play the hero in this one? Uh no, not in the least. We get full on evil demented Shatner in the flesh. He portrays Matt Stone (not to be confused with the talented South Park creator), who is just your typical thumb-sucking, mini cigar chain-smoking, conniving, scheming faux financial investor. His prey are vulnerable and lonely women, who he exploits for their money with delusional promises of fortune, love and monogamous commitment. He’s a sociopath, a psychopath…all kinds of ‘paths.

South Park has satirized all corners of American pop culture over its 26-season run. The show’s latest Paramount+ special took on the creator economy by poking fun at OnlyFans, Logan Paul, and the questionable influencer marketing practices Paul has used to advertise his beverage brand.
The special, titled South Park: Not Suitable For Children, is the sixth South Park installment that Trey Parker and Matt Stone have released exclusively on Paramount+. The 42-minute program centers around a sports drink called Cred — a thinly veiled reference to Paul and Ksi’s Prime. The kids at South Park Elementary are trying to acquire as many bottles of Cred as they can. Meanwhile, in videos that resemble the Prime Super Bowl ad, a South Park-ified version of Paul named Logan LeDouche inspires the kids to express their individuality (by buying Cred).

“South Park” pushed the limits in a brand new way during its latest Paramount+ special.
The aptly titled “South Park (Not Suitable for Children)” contained more nudity in its 46-minute runtime than Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s animated comedy has shown to date. According to TheWrap’s calculations, nine minutes and 27 seconds of that runtime showed the character Randy naked from the waist down. True to the style of this adult animated comedy, the animation of Randy’s often-shown genitalia was more detailed and graphic that other examples of genitalia the series has shown in the past.
(Note: This estimate only applies to the regular seasons of “South Park” and its Paramount+ specials. The video game “South Park: The Stick of Truth” notoriously contained a battle sequence that took place while the parents of the player character were having sex, a sequence that could last longer than nine minutes depending on gameplay.

A brand new “South Park” special has dropped on Paramount+ on Wednesday and is now available to stream in the U.S. and Canada.
“South Park: Not Suitable for Children” spoofs OnlyFans, the popular adult content creation platform. In the new trailer, Mr. Mackey bursts into his classroom and exclaims they have a problem. The official logline reads, “After it’s discovered that a teacher at South Park Elementary has an OnlyFans page, Randy is compelled to take a closer look at the seedy underbelly of the world of on-line influencers.”

Jodie Foster Says ‘Team America: World Police’ Is Her ‘Number One’ Required Film Everyone Should See
Oscar-winning icon Jodie Foster is revealing her must-see films list…and let’s just say, it’s a little surprising.
The “Nyad” star said while in conversation with “Past Lives” actress Greta Lee for Interview magazine that she has two films she recommends everyone should watch. To note, Lee also appeared in Foster’s “Money Monster.”
Lee asked Foster, “What’s one movie you think everyone should see at least once?” to which Foster replied, “Well, ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once.’ Oh, and this is probably number one — the puppet movie ‘Team America: World Police.'”
“Team America: World Police” was a 2004 political satire film directed by “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The film centered around an “Avengers” style group of counterterrorist police officers deemed Team America. The force accidentally destroys a slew of international landmarks while trying to take down real-life North Korean leader Kim Jong Il.

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone moved to the big screen with their feature Team America. Although the film received positive reviews and enjoyed a healthy box-office run, both Parker and Stone vowed to never make another puppet feature.

Parker and Stone took a break from their South Park obligations to focus their attention and time on Team America. Despite the film’s success, however, both Parker and Stone confided that it was far from a pleasure to work on. So much so that even after it was done, Stone wondered if developing the film was worth the cost.

South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are both used to making fun of celebrities on their hit television show. But they figured certain celebrities weren’t used to being poked fun of at all, including Kanye West. So when the pair parodied the rapper in their classic episode, Stone expected some kind of retribution.

All the way back in 2009, Stone and Parker poked fun at the rapper and his ego in the South Park episode ‘Fishsticks.’ The duo expected the episode would eventually reach West, and anticipated a harsh and maybe overblown response.
“I mean, I don’t think about that stuff that much. But I was like, “Oh dude, these hip-hop guys, they don’t like to f*** around. Especially with homophobia.’ I think Kanye’s actually been on the right side of that.

Over the course of its 50-year existence, Troma has helped launch the careers of filmmakers like Trey Parker & Matt Stone (South Park), James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Eli Roth (Hostel), along with countless actors who went on to long careers, but their biggest export by any internal metric — financial success, brand recognition, franchisability, fan base — is 1984’s The Toxic Avenger.
The film is preceded by an “extreme violence” warning. The gore is indeed graphic — the first kill features a kid’s head being run over by a car, firmly establishing that no one is safe and nothing is off limits — but it could use about a dozen more trigger warnings by today’s standards. If you can be offended, you will be offended by the boundary-pushing content that includes (but is certainly not limited to) racism, homophobia, ableism, and sexual misconduct — yet there is substance behind the sleaze.

As the “South Park” lawsuit between Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global wages on, a judge has dismissed two claims brought forth by Wbd. Specifically, the claims of “breach of the implied covenant of goof faith and fair dealing” as well as the “violation of New York Business Law” have been dropped.
Moving forward, the judge will still examine whether or not Paramount Global was in breach of its contract with Wbd regarding “South Park,” if there was “tortious interference” with the contract and if “unjust enrichment” occurred on behalf of Paramount.
In the lawsuit, Warner Bros. Discovery also noted that it believes Season 26, which aired its first episode in February of this year, also only consists of six episodes. Though its been months since the series has released new episodes, the animated comedy typically has 10 episode seasons.
Essentially, in its third claim — the aforementioned “violation of New York Business Law” — Warner Bros.

A New York judge has trimmed Warner Bros. Discovery’s lawsuit looking to enforce the company’s exclusive streaming rights to South Park on HBO Max.
Justice Margaret Chan on Tuesday found that Paramount didn’t violate any state consumer protection laws because the complaint revolves around a “private contract dispute” that allegedly caused Wbd to overpay for certain rights in the $500 million deal and “not conduct that has caused harm to consumers.” She concluded that Paramount didn’t engage in what Wbd called a “campaign of verbal trickery” that muddled understanding of who held the exclusive rights to the series when it debuted South Park: Post Covid and South Park: The Streaming Wars on Paramount+.
Wbd in February sued Paramount, South Park Digital Studios and MTV Entertainment, alleging that a $500 million licensing deal reached in 2019 for the exclusive streaming rights to the existing 23-season library and 30 new episodes was breached.

South Park is not what you would consider a sentimental show. Yet, for the many years the animated classic has been on the air, it’s proven that it has a soft spot for holiday joy. Sure, that soft spot just happens to include a sentient Christmas turd but that’s just the closest you’re going to get to ooey-gooey feelings with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
In its earlier seasons, South Park‘s schedule often ran through December and the show was happy to provide viewers with an accompanying Christmas special. Christmas episodes have become rarer for the series since but there are still at least 10 distinct holiday installments in the show’s canon…and that’s not even including “The Spirit of Christmas” short from 1995 that would eventually become South Park.
In the spirit of the season, we decided to go ahead and rank all of the South Park Christmas specials!

Skybound Entertainment, the company behind animated TV series “Invincible,” has acquired the historic Spike & Mike’s animation events, with plans for a revival. Marge Dean, head of studio at Skybound Entertainment, announced the news at Toronto’s Animation Industry Conference (Taafi) on Saturday.
Spike & Mike began in the 1970s as a curator of animated shorts. “Spike & Mike’s Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation,” which showcased out-of-the-box animated shorts, is known today for launching the careers of industry professionals such as Pete Docter (“Inside Out”), Matt Stone and Trey Parker (“South Park”) and John Lasseter (“Toy Story”).
Skybound said it will seek to honor the treasured brand by relaunching the animation events, making animated shorts available digitally, highlighting current talent in the animation industry through collaborations and reintroducing the Spike & Mike library. Details of the festival are still in the works, but planned awards initiatives include development opportunities, project stipends and acquisitions.

This article contains spoilers for South Park: Joining the Panderverse.
It’s about that time of year again for Matt Stone and Trey Parker to continue their $900 million 14 TV movie Paramount+ contract promise and drop another near-hour-long South Park special.
At this point, it’s expected that these specials are the central platform for Stone and Parker to satirize recent social events but in the most outrageous South Park possible, as they do with the mainline show. Like its recent seasons, the specials have had a scattershot quality — usually plentiful in gags that are funny until tired or decent commentary on the rollercoaster years we’ve endured recently.
Nevertheless, it’s continually enticing to see which corner of American culture the creators will aim their tomatoes at and how ridiculously they will depict a central topic. In their latest special, South Park: Joining the Panderverse, the creators target the cycle...
