Good news, Trek fans. The wait is almost over. Just seven more days until J.J. Abrams' two-disc special edition of Star Trek comes to DVD. Naturally, that means the usual loving assortment of behind-the-scenes extras, including a commentary track from Abrams and his producing and writing teams. But the nuggets you'll want to check out first are the nine deleted scenes. If you can't wait, here's a breakdown of the lost goodies. Scene 1: Spock's birth. This was originally supposed to be the first shot in the movie. A touching and tender scene set on the Vulcan home planet »

Glee Round Table: "Acafellas"

17 September 2009 12:12 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Another week, another fabulous episode of Glee, another Round Table from our staff of writers.

Soon after each installment of this great Fox series, we'll analyze various plot points, songs and developments. We encourage readers to chime in with comments and answer the questions below, as well. Let's get to it!

What was your favorite performance from the episode?

A. Cheerio: It's gotta be "Poison." Did anyone else see the Scrubs episode from years ago when Turk danced along to this same song? The Acafellas may have done an even better job.

BerryTalented: Clearly Mercedes' version of "Bust Your Windows." Yikes. Remind me to never get on her side. What a great voice, and what an intense star when she gets mad!

FinnFan: I'm sorry, but Finn And Will singing a rendition of "I Wanna Sex You Up"?!?!? It's like they were reading my mind. Easy winner.

Throngs of screaming teenagers don't do it for Josh Groban.

- Josh Groban

Victor Garber and Josh Groban guest-starred on the latest episode of Glee, with the latter playing a hilarious, rude version of himself.

Also, Will started his own singing group, while Kurt revealed a major secret about himself to Mercedes. It was moving stuff.

Read a detailde recap of "Acafellas" now and let us know if you liked this week's installment.

Josh Groban didn't sing on Glee. But Mercedes busted out an incredible rendition of "Bust Your Windows" that you can buy off iTunes right now!

Our favorite Glee quotes from the hour included:

Sue: I'm going to ask you to smell your armpits. That's the smell of failure, and it's stinking up my office. | permalink Rachel: We're gonna win because we're different. That what makes us special. | permalink Kurt: You busted my window.

Mercedes: Well, you busted my heart. »

'Glee' recap: Acafellas bring down the house!

17 September 2009 3:02 AM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

I didn’t think it was possible, PopWatchers, but I now love Glee even more! Last night’s episode may have even trumped last week’s season premiere. I mean, they covered Bell Biv Devoe And Color Me Badd!!! How can you Not love this show! Is it wrong that I kinda would buy an Acafellas album? I thought they were so adorable. And their renditions of “This is How We Do It,”  “Poison,” and “I Wanna Sex You Up” were actually really good. But the thing that I loved most about this episode was that it gave the spotlight to characters who hadn’t had big moments yet. Matthew Morrison, for one, really came alive last night. He just showed what a charismatic performer he is. And hello Mark Salling, aka Puck. Or I guess I should say hello Mark Salling’s abs. Sweet mercy. I think it’s »

J.J. Abrams: Pop-culture polymath

4 September 2009 12:32 PM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Welcome back to our EW University course on TV Auteurs -- a look at some of the people who have had a major role in shaping the medium over the last 50 years. Today, Prof. Dan Snierson offers his overview of the work of J.J. Abrams. If you had to sum up J.J. Abrams neatly in just one word, it would be ...  kinda hard to do. He’s a cross-genre, multi-medium hyphenate who flies a geek flag of many colors. (The boy who grew up on The Twilight Zone, Mission Impossible, Get Smart, James Bond, and Star Wars has crafted a TV resume that boasts credits as diverse as Felicity and Fringe; his movie credits range from Regarding Henry to Cloverfield.) His projects tend to be smart, layered, splashy, angsty, laced with mystery and/or mythology -- plus they just might contain an It Girl in the making (see: Keri Russell, »

The Best Fall Gay TV Guide Ever!

24 August 2009 5:32 PM, PDT | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

Prepare to be dazzled!

As difficult as it is to believe given our astounding amounts of copy and shocking levels of professionalism, AfterElton.com is less than five years old.

Needless to say, the site has seen a lot of changes in these past few years – not the least of which is our bi-annual TV-viewing previews.

At the beginning, it pretty much consisted of our doing a furious Google search of the words “gay” and “TV” thirty minutes before making the article live.

These days? Well, now we have virtually every TV star or showrunner imaginable available at the touch of a button.

In other words, access, thy name is AfterElton.com! Hey, we even talked to Padma friggin’ Lakshmi (who, for the record, is even more beautiful in person than she is on TV – we’re just sayin’).

And since we’ve watched preview copies of most of the new shows, »

[TV] Eli Stone: The Complete Second Season

23 August 2009 10:00 AM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

Eli Stone has a lot to repent for. While a good many may have thought Eli Stone was the second coming of 7th Heaven, a family friendly show with strong Christian overtones, it’s not so much preaching to the choir as it is pandering. Maybe there’s a subsection of television viewers out there who don’t think Eli Stone is laying the Christian message on thick; but for a show that makes many strong biblical references and analogies it has an odd tendency to abandon its subtler points in favor of heavy handed exposition telling us exactly why each episode’s plot has some christocentric deeper meaning. Despite its inability to deliver its message without resorting to a bludgeoning force, Eli Stone does have a spark of ingenuity in its concept—too bad this second season set is the dying flare.

Eli Stone (Jonny Lee Miller) has a special purpose. »

Nurse Jackie: Pill-o-Matix

18 August 2009 12:46 PM, PDT | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

(S01E11) Nothing really jumped out at me about this episode ... well, ok, the spider scene. And the end scene. That opened up a big can o' worms for Jackie that I'm sure will have big consequences for her one way or another. And I appreciated seeing Victor Garber as the movie critic patient, and the mess Zoey made while caring for him.

But that's how Nurse Jackie operates. There usually aren't any major "wow" scenes; the episodes just sort of float along, one playing off of the other in more of a real-life fashion.

In case anyone hasn't seen the episode yet, I'll get into more details after the jump.Continue reading Nurse Jackie: Pill-o-Matix

Imho "Merlin" (1: 9): The Sword and the Stoner

3 August 2009 2:46 PM, PDT | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

I confess I'm still getting used to this whole "hoyay" thing. Gay subtext, I understand. But projected gay subtext where it can all be in the mind of the viewer? That's ridiculously open-ended, isn't it?

Still, even on the "wishful thinking" front, there wasn't much hoyay between Merlin and Arthur in "Excalibur," last night's episode of Merlin (although Merlin did admit, "You could say there's a bond between us").

Still, there were some serious Brokeback-Camelot sparks flying between Arthur and King Uther, who said to him, "You mean more to me than anything I know — more than my own kingdom, and certainly my own life."

Granted, the characters are father and son, which is admittedly very creepy, but if fans of Supernatural can overlook the fact that they're supposed to be brothers, I can overlook that.

And did you catch the way the Black Knight was eyeing Arthur?

Okay, that last comment was (1) truly icky, »
