#1 James Cameron to redo “The Fantastic Voyage”
Now don’t be getting too excited because there’s no news that Cameron will direct the project but Variety does report that Cameron is producing the film and from what I can gather, the project (and a few more to follow) is an effort to make use and money from the expensive technology he spent years prepping for Avatar. It’s a great opportunity to remake this sci-fi classic but with “Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem” writer Shane Salerno on board to adapt the original story, I can’t say I’m all that excited.
#2 Natalie Portman starring in “Pride Prejudice and Zombies”
This seems like an odd pairing but Portman does have the looks for period drama though I’m not sure what possessed her to agree to a period piece about a man searching for love amidst a zombie outbreak. Portman »

Earlier today, we brought you an early edition of Twitter-Wood packed chock-full of celebrity praise for James Cameron's sci-fi epic, "Avatar." It's a much more tragic set of circumstances that brings me back to you with another Twitter-Wood early edition.
"Clueless" star Brittany Murphy left us suddenly over the weekend, the victim of a heart attack at the too-young age of 32. The breaking news resulted in an outpouring of grief and sympathy for Murphy's family from around the celebrity Twittersphere. I'll let the people who knew her take it from here...
@ParisHilton So sad to hear about Brittany Murphy, such a tragedy. She was such a beautiful, funny and sweet girl. My heart goes out to her family.

After the critical travesty Boondock Saints II, you wouldn.t expect much casting news involving either of the MacManus brothers. Well, it looks like someone has some faith in Sean Patrick Flanery because, according to THR, he.s just been cast in the indie sci-fi flick Scavengers. Joining him will be Louise Linton as Emerson, the leader of the Revelator, one of many space scavenger ships seeking supplies, energy and treasure. When her crew stumbles upon the alien-created Chaos Generator, they.ve got to do whatever it takes to keep it out of the hands of their sinister shipmate, Captain Jekel (Flanery). Sounds like a Syfy reject to me. The Chaos Generator? They couldn.t come up with anything more original? Anyway, Scavengers will mark the directorial debut of production designer Travis Nicholas Zariwny. Production on the low-budget indie begins today. I doubt Scavengers will nab Flanery his first well-received »

Sean Patrick Flanery in any movie is worth picking up. I’ve been a fan of his ever since he put on the fedora for George Lucas’ short-lived TV show “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles”, and continued to be one through “Suicide Kings” and the “Boondock Saints” movies (catch the sequel in theaters if you’re so inclined). Flanery’s latest is playing the bad guy in a sci-fi action movie called “Scavengers”, which will co-star Louise Linton (below) as the female lead. The film, an indie sci-fi production, is about crews of space scavengers that compete for supplies, energy and treasure out there in the cold wastelands of space. When the crew of the Revelator, led by Emerson (Linton), comes across the alien-created Chaos Generator, they must fight to keep it out of the hands of her former shipmate, the sinister Captain Jekel (Flanery). Ooooh. Flanery as a sinister bad guy. »

Space. Ever think that one day we'll be cruising around the galaxy as simply as we do now our highways? One thing's for sure ... the aliens out there seem to be a lot more dangerous than the Border-crossers here!
The Hollywood Reporter got word today that both Louise Linton and Sean Patrick Flanery (pictured) have landed roles in the upcoming sci-fi/horror flick Scavengers.
The film focuses on crews of space scavengers competing for supplies, energy, and treasure. Never trust Anyone named Jekel.
The film will be the directorial debut of production designer Travis Nicholas Zariwny ("Wake"). James Rosenthal ("Little Fish, Strange Pond") is producing.
Production on the low-budget film begins today.

Although Sean Patrick Flanery is best known for upholding truth and justice as one of the Boondock Saints, the actor will make the big leap into space as THR reports he and actress Louise Linton are joining the independent science fiction film Scavengers. The story follows crews of space scavengers competing for supplies, energy and treasure. When the crew of the Revelator, led by Emerson (Linton), comes across the alien-created Chaos Generator, they must fight to keep it out of the hands of her former shipmate, the sinister Captain Jekel (Flanery). Unfortunately this vaguely reminds me of the 1997 bomb Space Truckers. Production designer Travis Nicholas Zariwny will make his directorial debut with the film, but he's got a tough act to follow after such a strong showing recently in indie sci-fi with films like Moon and District 9, so I hope whenever this makes its way to theaters it can »

Chicago – “There’s not a bigger ‘f*ck you!’ from Hollywood than when they say: ‘Eh, we’re not going to release this film.’” But then the fans say: “Oh, you know what? About $100 million says that you are retarded. It says that you made a bad decision,” “The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day” star Sean Patrick Flanery said in a Chicago interview with HollywoodChicago.com.
Flanery added: “Everybody thinks they know. Executives say: ‘We do this for a living.’ Well, you f*cked up. You f*cked up! You didn’t put this in the theater, and with no advertising, people just picked it up and said: ‘You’re an idiot. This is a good film.’”

Possession(s), a new Australian short, featured one of the most notable launches in recent memory. To coincide with the film’s release a famous Peter Booth artwork, Painting (Man With Bandaged Head), was sold off in The Deutscher and Hackett Important Fine Art Auction.
The tie-in between the film and the auction comes in the shape of actor Laurence Fuller who used the painting, which he owned, as inspiration for the dark, brooding short. His character Frank, upon seeing the Peter Booth work, becomes embroiled with a sense of obsession; he simply has to own the piece and will do anything to make it so. However, it soon becomes clear that Frank is not the only one consumed by the desire to possess.
Laurence Fuller shines in the lead role and it is easy to see why he is a much sought after young actor. Having attended the Method »

Like its predecessor, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is a rocking, firework popping action extravaganza that doesn’t add anything deep to the series but what it does is bring us the continuation of a cult classic that after 10 years hasn’t missed a beat.
It would be a disservice to harp on Troy Duffy’s issues getting this film made and the hoops it probably took for him to finally get it off the ground, but like its creator this film is messy, vulgar, violent and completely senseless but in way that’s lovable just like the its cult classic predecessor.
All Saints Day, brings us back together with fraternal twins Murphy (Norman Reedus) and Connor (Sean Patrick Flanery), who managed to escape back home to the hills of Ireland after their justice driven vigilante kill spree throughout Boston. A decade has passed but the drive to »

Writer/director Troy Duffy, along with the MacManus Brothers themselves, Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery, were in Dallas this past week for a special screening of the Boondock Saints II: All Saint’S Day. Needless to say, the die hard BOONDOCKs fans turned out in droves and were as rowdy as can be. Would you expect anything less? After all, with Boondock Saints, everyone’s Irish!

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day
Directed by: Troy Duffy
Cast: Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus, Billy Connolly, Clifton Collins Jr., Julie Benz
Running Time: 2 hrs
Rating: R
Release Date: November 13, 2009 (Limited)
Plot: The vigilante assassins (Flanery, Reedus) return from hiding in Ireland to stop a copycat killer who is putting a bad mark on their legacy. While back home they attempt to fix the unfinished business with the powerful Yakavetta Mob.
Who’S It For? If you like action movies with slow motion shootouts, slim plots, and shabby moral lessons, then you probably saw 1999’s original The Boondock Saints. Now that ten years have past, do you want the same thing again, or would a hundredth re-watch of the first suffice?
Expectations: The first film succeeded with a few clever ideas, such as a different way to imagine a shootout. Now that the Saints aren’t particularly new to us, »

Like many, I came to know and love The Boondock Saints through DVD (and now Blu-ray.) Browsing through my local DVD retailer, I checked out their new releases and saw the film for a reasonable price. This was also at a time I had decided I wanted to be a filmmaker so I was interested in seeing obscure, off-beat films. So I purchased the flick, went home, and was instantly assaulted by all of it’s awesome. From the unrelenting action to Willem Dafoe’s outlandish performance, I was thoroughly entertained by what Troy Duffy had delivered and eagerly anticipated the sequel, which by this point in time was still rumored.
Well here we are, ten years after the first film debuted and The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is upon us. While it’s been playing New York and L.A., everyone else gets it this weekend. When »

I’ve never heard of William Kaufman, but the boys over at Quiet Earth have, and they’ve been following his latest movie, the action/crime thriller “Saints and Sinners”. The film stars relative unknown Johnny Strong, who has had small roles in some big Hollywood action movies like “Black Hawk Down”, “Get Carter”, and “The Fast and the Furious”, but “Saints and Sinners” will mark his biggest role to date. Besides Strong in the lead, Kaufman has surrounded him with some notable genre names, including Tom Berenger, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Kim Coates. And oh yeah, the Mandylor brothers are apparently both in the film. But never you mind all that, check out this trailer for the movie. Now that is a trailer. In lawless storm ravaged New Orleans, beleaguered detective, Sean Riley, is trying to cope with the death of his young son and the abandonment of his wife. »

William Kaufman's feature debut, the gun-heavy assassin thriller, Prodigy, surprised viewers when it was released in 2006. Since then, I've had my eye on the newcomer's next project, a gritty detective actioner called Sinners and Saints. So you can imagine my joy when we were given an exclusive first look a the the film's explosive extended promo trailer.
Sinners brings Sean Patrick Flanery, Tom Berenge, Johnny Strong and Method Man together in a crime ridden, post-Katrina New Orleans where life on the streets is brutal and the guys at the top are finding all new ways to exploit the decaying city.
Synopsis:
In lawless storm ravaged New Orleans, beleaguered detective, Sean Riley, is trying to cope with the death of his young son and the abandonment of his wife. Facing a probable suspension from the department, Riley is teamed with a young homicide detective, Will Ganz, to help solve a »

Is Sean Patrick Flanery at last getting the recognition he deserves? Hopefully with Boondock 2 the guy will be put on the path of more kick-ass movies, like this one here looks to be. Sinners And Saints from rookie director William Kaufman, puts Flanery in the middle of an equally underrated cast including Tom Berenger, Jurgen Prochnow, and Kim Coates. Whole thing is headlined by Johnny Strong in pretty much his first outing since playing Leon in the original Fast And Furious. Story follows »
