24 December 2009 8:46 PM, PST | Pretty/Scary | See recent pretty-scary news »

By Heidi Martinuzzi and Amanda Reyes

We went through the best and worst Christmas movies ever, and picked out the most awesome females from each film for your holiday enjoyment. There are so many wonderful bad horror Christmas movies, it'll make you cry tears. Tears of Awesome...

Tales from the Crypt

Joan Collins, was your career really that bad before Dynasty? Starring in horrific B-Movies like Empire of the Ants and Tales from the Crypt? One vignette in particular, And All Through the House, stars Joan Collins as a devious wife hell-bent on getting away with murder on Christmas Eve. When she hears that there is an escaped convict running around hacking people up with an ax, she makes good use of it by trying to frame the killer for her husband's death! Oh no, you mean, ironically, the real killer actually does make his way to her home, where she has to defend herself? »

George, Matt, Brad and Author Angelina Celebrate Unicef

11 December 2009 6:38 AM, PST | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

The Beverly Wilshire Hotel in La hosted a special Unicef Ball last night to honor producer Jerry Weintraub. The man of the evening posed for photos on the blue carpet with George Clooney. Matt Damon posed alone and his new movie Invictus is out today - read Buzz's review here. George's vacation buddies, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, stuck close together, though Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie skipped the flashbulbs and headed inside along with Elisabetta Canalis. Yesterday also marked Human Rights Day, which prompted Angelina to pen an article for Newsweek. She wrote about the ongoing crisis in Sudan, questioning the Obama administration's policies toward the country and its leaders on the same day the President picked up his Nobel Peace Prize. Despite the day's heavy subject matter, Angelina seemed to keep it light inside the bash. She planted kisses on Jerry before he accepted an award from George, »

Rupert Everett | I wouldn't advise any actor thinking of his career to come out

28 November 2009 4:10 PM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

He had Hollywood at his feet at the age of 25. So why has Rupert Everett never lived up to that early promise? Here, the outspoken actor talks about homophobia, deranged A-listers and why Madonna isn't speaking to him

Can anyone look more world weary than Rupert Everett? At certain points in the interview, he gives the impression of having been in the acting game since at least the dawn of time, if not before. These are eyes that have seen it all – glittering success, abject failure, critical acclaim, the best reviews on earth, the worst. But then, at times, his career trajectory has resembled the cardiogram of a 60-a-day, overweight smoker: up, down, up, critical, dead, alive again! He was a star at 22, a has-been at 30, a Hollywood ingenue at 40, and here he is again, aged 50, still handsome, still game, gadding around in the new St Trinian's film in a »

Dynasty | Cable girl

I have never been happier. For Dynasty - greatest of all 80s soaps - starts tonight

Dynasty in pictures: From Joan Collins's shoulder pads to Michael Praed's pants

I literally could not – wait, let me check myself over . . . yes, I am right – I literally could not be happier. Not if I had a ginger kitten in each pocket and was on my way to a meringue-tasting soiree hosted by George Clooney and Hud-era Paul Newman. Dynasty (CBS Drama) is back. Tonight. Dynasty. Back. Tonight. With the original three-hour premiere, helpfully entitled Oil. Managing not to add an exclamation mark to that was the first and last moment of restraint this most glorious of all the 80s soaps ever showed.

The tone is set from the first scenes, as oil tycoon Blake Carrington is driven in his limousine across his estate and out through his monogrammed electric gates. »

Robin Hardy Grows The Wicker Tree

6 November 2009 8:34 AM, PST | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Last Friday at New York City’s 92YTribeca, fans of Robin Hardy’s 1973 British horror classic The Wicker Man got a special treat. Not only was a 35mm print of the movie screened with Hardy in attendance, but the director unveiled 10 minutes of clips from his latest feature The Wicker Tree (formerly known as Cowboys For Christ). Fango got a chance to speak with Hardy exclusively about the new project, which was partially encouraged by the misbegotten 2006 remake of The Wicker Man starring Nicolas Cage.

“It had been in my mind to do another movie,” Hardy says, “and when they made the Nicolas Cage version, I thought they missed the point of the first film completely. I say point, but I mean points, really. They just used the plot and threw away all the atmosphere and charm, the things which lulled you into a sense of this being a marvelous, »

Remembering Jon-Erik Hexum

November 5, 1957 - October 18, 1984

October 18, 1984. "A day that will live in infamy." At least in my mind — and a bunch of other gay boys of a certain age.

This Sunday marks the 25th anniversary of the death of mega-hunk, Jon-Erik Hexum.

The event can only be described as tragic — a hot, young, rising star accidentally shoots himself with a prop gun while on the set of his latest TV show. My best friend and I were devastated when we learned of the tragedy. At the time, neither of us knew the other was gay (remember, this was the '80s and we were kids). Yet for a brief moment, we let down our guard to lament the horrible tragedy: How could someone so young and talented (not to mention handsome) be gone forever?

Over two decades later I would include the incident in my debut novel, Band Fags!

Collins admits to shopping at Primark

Joan Collins has admitted that she has shopped at high street clothes store Primark. The Dynasty star said that she "loved" the budget chain and also revealed that she had taken her grandchildren to McDonald's. "I'm having to cut back on spending - I'm afraid I'm no different from anyone else in that respect," she told The Sun. "I can't afford couture clothes. I don't know who can, I wouldn't dream of spending £3,000 on a jacket. "The jacket I have on today is from Zara. I recently had my first sojourn into Primark (more) »

Collins Revives Glamour In New TV Show

7 October 2009 12:01 PM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Dynasty star Joan Collins is fronting a new TV special as part of her personal mission to revive style in Britain.

The veteran actress is appalled with the current state of fashion in the U.K. and is hosting a one-off show, Joan Does Glamour, in which she helps three women learn to dress stylishly.

She tells Britain's Hello! magazine, "Some of the women in Britain look great, and some of them look frightful. There are so many fashion crimes. I think people have become sloppy. And it's not just down to money. Some of the worst-dressed women I know buy dresses that cost £3,000 and they look horrible."

But Collins doesn't blame her makeover victims for their fashion crimes, insisting it's the designers who are pushing unacceptable "grungy" looks.

She adds, "Number one is the designers. Most clothes that I saw during London's Fashion Week are emperor's new clothes. And, I thought... unwearable! I used to go to Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus in Hollywood and there was a fantastic selection of clothes. But there isn't any more. Magazines are pushing this grungy look of not caring. Women have become lost. They don't know what to wear and don't want to spend too much money!"

Collins' programme airs in the U.K. on 13 October. »

Will we look at Lindsay Lohan in Playboy?

2 September 2009 12:00 AM, PDT | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

Appearing sans clothing in the pages of Playboy has given a much-needed jumpstart to many actresses throughout the decades. Sometimes the celeb finds herself appearing wearing nothing but her birthday suit -- well, and maybe a couple of lacy undergarments usually half off their body -- against her wishes because the photos come from a time when she wasn't as well known as she is now and needed the fash cash. Marylyn Monroe, Joan Collins, Madonna are some of the women that come immediately to mind. On other occasions the actress is a willing participant who cashes in on a nice payday as well as takes a gamble that a racier photospread will bring her to the attention of filmmakers looking to cast their new movie. And it may be Lindsay Lohan who becomes this next breed of celeb Playboy pictoral.

'Celebs' Who Need a Lil Twitter

Though it may seem every celebrity and pseudo-celebrity out there is oversharing on Twitter, there are a few who haven’t started up an account yet—but they really should, writes Andrew Belonsky for Gawker. The top names who would benefit from a little shameless self-promotion: Burt Reynolds: “Burt actually has a Twitter page, but it hasn't been updated since November 25, 2008. For shame! One of the keys to Twitter is regularity. Considering the inactivity in your career, we're sure you have time.” Joan Collins: She “remains a household name, yes, but so does Burt Reynolds. Joan Collins reveals diet pressure

Joan Collins was forced to lose weight when she was a young actress, even though she only weighed 125lbs. The 76-year-old former 'Dynasty' star had to cut her hair, wear make-up at all times and agree to never wear jeans to keep her contract with film studio 20th Century Fox in the 1950s. She revealed to Britain's The Times newspaper: "When I was young I rejected the glamorous look of stars from previous eras but the studios were all strict. "If you were under contract you had to conform to their rigid looks and dress code. It had to be glamour all the way, and I hated it. When the Fox bosses first saw me, they insisted I lose »

Los Angeles' most starry hotel is to close for a two-year renovation.

The Hotel Bel Air, which was recently bought by the Sultan of Brunei's brother, will close its doors next month.

Warren Beatty and Annette Bening stayed there after the Northridge earthquake in 1994 and Diana Ross used to call the place a home from home.

Other regulars have included singer/songwriter Carly Simon, Joan Collins, Marilyn Monroe, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tina Turner, Al Pacino, Whitney Houston and Robert De Niro. »

Christina Hendricks makes men mad about her

4 August 2009 2:58 PM, PDT | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

With less than two weeks to go until the third season of AMC's Mad Men is broadcast it makes perfect sense for Esquire to do a photo shoot of the redhaired Joan Holloway on the show, actress Christina Hendricks. And furthermore, it makes sense in the world of magazine publishing and online blogging for Christina Hendricks to be wearing a form-fitting black garment that would give most of us pause if we happened to come across her outside the trailer pictured in the Esquire photo shoot.

What Joan Collins was to Dynasty in the 1980s and Heather Locklear to Melrose Place in the '90s, Hendricks' icy cool Joan is the shark in the waters at the show's Sterling Cooper advertising agency. She's the top hen in the secretarial pool at the company and she lets everyone know it through her words and demeanor. Of course, I''m now just filling »

Do The Right Thing: 20th Anniversary Edition (Universal) Spike Lee’s groundbreaking fable about race relations in an ethnically mixed Brooklyn neighborhood during a sweltering New York summer remains as potent, timely and prescient as it was in 1989. Lee is among the cast, which also includes John Turturro, Danny Aiello, Samuel L. Jackson, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, and Rosie Perez (to name a few), that provide the tableaux-like framework for this stunning work. Criminally ignored by Oscar (it wasn't even nominated for Best Picture, but did garner nods for Supporting Actor Danny Aiello and Lee’s screenplay), it endures as a timeless classic. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Commentary by Lee, Ernest Dickerson, Wynn Thomas, Joie Lee; Documentary; Deleted and extended scenes; Featurettes. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS 5.1 surround.

Is Cowboys For Christ Underway?

5 July 2009 4:14 PM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Robin Hardy has been talking about Cowboys For Christ, a "spiritual sequel" to his 1973 pagan horror musical classic The Wicker Man, for years. He published the story as a novel in 2007, but hasn't directed a film since that mind-boggling 70s original. Until now.Funding fell through last year, but Shock Till You Drop are reporting that some shooting has now taken place in Texas, and is currently underway in Scotland. Christopher Lee is apparently on hand, along with Ed Speleers (Eragon) and Susie Amy (Lesbian Vampire Killers). Joan Collins was originally involved, but it's unclear whether or not she's still aboard.Plot-wise, we're very much back in Wicker Man territory, as two Texan Christians attempt to introduce God to a remote Scottish border town.  "There is a tradition among 10 or 15 little towns on the borders in Scotland," Hardy told The Guardian in 2007, "where once a year, usually around the summer solstice, »

Reports in early 2008 said director Robin Hardy's "companion piece" to his 1973 chiller The Wicker Man had lost its funding shortly before shooting was to begin in Scotland with Christopher Lee and Joan Collins leading the cast. Things are picking back up for Hardy. Sources tell us a bit of shooting has already taken place in Texas and Hardy is currently in production in Scotland! Now, according to the IMDb, the film still stars Lee, as Sir Lachlan Morrison, and includes Ed Speleers ( Eragon ), Susie Amy ( Lesbian Vampire Killers ), Henry Garrett, Keith Warwick and Morgan James.
