Whit Stillman hasn't made a lot of films. In fact, there are only three: Metropolitan, Barcelona, and The Last Days of Disco. All filmed in the '90s, his trio of movies morphed from upper-class teen Manhattanites, to heading out into the international working world, and finally to a look into the end of disco. Unfortunately, the last was sadly overlooked because another big disco fest hit the big screen -- 54 -- which may have been terrible, but with the likes of Mike Myers and a big-name cast, it was the flick in the spotlight.
Nestled in the shadows was The Last Days of Disco, starring Chloe Sevigny and Kate Beckinsale as two young book editors who fill their nights with dance and banter while looking for romance. Each night, as they head to the club, they come across a myriad of faces, from the Stillman pro Chris Eigeman, to the likes of Mackenzie Astin, »

I was hoping Melissa George would find more work after getting the boot from Grey's Anatomy, but I guess I was looking for something a little more than this. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Melissa will join the cast of Lie to Me as "an Anna Nicole Smith-type."
Melissa will play Clara Martin, "the sassy wife of an older billionaire who has been murdered" who takes control of his empire. As Michael Ausiello notes, "she's kinda nuts."
If anything, this will probably be a fun part to play, but I'd also love to see Melissa do something a little more bad ass. However, we can hold out hope she'll share a scene with Lie to Me's Zoe Landau, aka Jennifer Beals. But with Clara not showing up till the 11th episode of the second season's 13, she might not have that much screen time.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then how much is a picture by Jennifer Beals worth? Is thousand words plus a sippy cup? The actress released a preview of her new photography book as one of the extras in The L Word Season 6 DVD set.
The final season set came out yesterday and with it came a behind-the-scenes look at the series through Jennifer’s lens. She calls the images a “photographic journal” taken to help her preserve and remember the time she spend on the show, from rehearsals to dinners and photoshoots. She also saved her scripts, call sheets and other moments, some which will also make their way into the book.
Jennifer wrote in a prologue to the preview, “Mostly, I wanted to remember the joy, because no matter where the storylines went, we always managed to have fun.”
Some of the images have made the »

As happy as I am that Lauren Graham is coming back to series television, I can’t help wishing she’d waited just a bit longer to sign the Parenthood contract.
Why? Because HBO announced Tuesday that Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino will write and executive produce a new dramedy for the cable network.
The series is about three adult sisters, all writers, sharing an apartment in the upper east side of NYC. Their domineering mother is a “literary lioness” who dotes on their ne’er-do-well brother. According to Sherman-Palladino, “It’s the story of love, hate, family — and finding the perfect opening line.”
To capture the spirit of anticipation that I have for this series, you have to ignore Sherman-Palladino’s most recent effort, The Return of Jezebel James, and relive the glory days of Gilmore Girls via this clip from “Donna Reed Night” (after the very loud commercial »

The actor talks about his role as Cal Lightman on the new season of this Fox series

Chicago – When “Lie to Me” premiered earlier this year, the show simply didn’t work. But a lot has happened since then.
The very talented Shawn Ryan (creator of “The Shield”) has come on board as executive producer and Tim Roth has expressed interest in developing his character as more than a cog in a mystery-of-the-week machine. Both the new emphasis on character and stronger writing makes for a season-two premiere that hints at a show with much more potential than when the series began.
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0 Back in January, I wrote, “Cluttered TV scripts reek of desperation and “Lie To Me” is just not well-written. Roth is good and Williams isn’t bad, but TV has always been and will always be about the writing and the pilot for “Lie To Me” is a mess. The cases, the dialogue, the supporting characters - none of it works.”

Clearly one of the coolest men to ever hit the planet, Denzel Washington has it all going on in the theatrical trailer for the Jan 10/2010 release of the post apocalyptic epic “Book Of Eli”. Denzel plays a road weary dude, firm and fully packed to deal some serious dusty damage to all those fringe living miscreants foolish enough to try and take the secrets of the “book”. Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson and Jennifer Beals are along for the ride. Gary is of course the bad guy and employs his usual gravel voiced gravitas to the role of the bad man that needs or thinks he needs the book. The Hughes Bros direct. Thanks Slashfilm for the news. »

I described the first teaser for Denzel Washington starer, Book of Eli, as "pure post-apocalyptic popcorn" and, while this full length trailer tries to present the film as extremely serious, I think we all know the description to still be apt. It's even got the Pa and western genre cliches, larger than life villains and ten-on-one fight scenes to prove it.
Synopsis:
In a post-apocalyptic America where the once-picturesque countryside has become a desolate and violent wasteland, one man (Denzel Washington) fights to protect that sacred tome that could hold the key to the survival of the human race.
Book of Eli also stars Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson and Jennifer Beals. It opens in theaters on January 10, 2010.

So yup, the secret is out: Eli’s little book, that everyone wants to get their little hands on, is a copy of the Bible. I kinda figured that’s what it was. Here’s the latest, action-packed theatrical trailer for the Hughes Brother’s post-apocalyptic movie “Book of Eli”. The trailer really plays up the action, which is not necessarily a bad thing. When it comes to big-budget post-apocalyptic tales, you can go gritty and depressing like “The Road”, or you can go the ass kicking route, which seems to be the case here. A post-apocalyptic tale, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. Starring Mila Kunis, Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Jennifer Beals, Malcolm McDowell, Michael Gambon, Tom Waits, Ray Stevenson, Frances de la Tour, and directed by Albert and Allen Hughes. »

Actor Jesse Eisenberg still can't believe his luck - his first full-on kiss was with Flashdance pin-up Jennifer Beals.
The young star was 18 when he landed his first movie, Rodger Dodger, opposite Beals - and couldn't believe he'd get to kiss his one-time crush.
He recalls, "That was the most amazing thing ever. I hadn't even been on a date before that movie. I was 18 years old so that was the coolest thing ever.
"It was my first kiss with my mouth open like that. She was every man's fantasy since 1980, so it was awesome." »

Good news for anyone let down by Showtime's decision to end their original series, "The L Word," earlier this year: The show is set to be brought back by the network, but this time with real lesbians. And while the new series won't feature Jennifer Beals or Mia Kirshner, it will offer non-actresses the chance to become television stars, in what's being described as an "answer to Bravo's 'Real Housewives' franchise."According to Ilene Chaiken, who created the original show in 2003, "The Real L Word: Los Angeles" will pick up right where the scripted drama left off. "Even though we concluded our sixth sea ... »
