Back in 2022, the eight-episode feature following the mysterious adventures of Wednesday Addams in Nevermore Academy became Netflix’s most-watched original series ever, beating even the most hyped seasons of Stranger Things and Bridgerton.
Filming of the follow-up has just started in Ireland, and we can finally have a closer look at the second season’s cast changes. Luckily, Wednesday’s main star, the new scream queen Jenna Ortega, will reprise her already iconic role, despite her dropping out of another Netflix’s project, the animated series Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.
Wednesday Regulars: Who Returns in Season 2?
Firstly, we’ll have some characters elevated to the status of the show’s regulars. These include Catherine Zeta-Jones as Wednesday’s mother, Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, the father of the family, Isaac Ordonez as their son Pugsley, and also Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Ritchie Santiago, the deputy of the local police department.

After the runaway success of Netflix and Tim Burton’s Addams Family stand-alone series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer renewed it for second season in January 2023. That decision came less than three months after the eight-episode Season 1 premiered, eventually becoming the most-watched original series ever on the streamer ever with more than 252 million views to date, far surpassing Stranger Things‘ Season 4, Dahmer and Season 1 of Bridgerton on the all-time list.
Season 1 ending up scoring 12 Emmy nominations, including for Ortega in Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, becoming just the third Latina to ever be nominated in a leading actress category. The series won four Emmys, though Ortega lost out to Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson on Emmy night.

Cue "Goo Goo Muck" by The Cramps -- because it's time for "Wednesday" fans to get their groove back on. The second season of Netflix's immensely popular "Addams Family" spinoff series is now officially in production in Ireland after being postponed due to last year's extremely necessary dual actors and writers' strikes. Jenna Ortega will once again lead the way as the titular character, who is still her usual unsmiling and morbid self here. Well, except that, in a twist that left a lot of longtime "Addams Family" enthusiasts confused, season 1 transformed Wednesday into a cross between a Veronica Mars-style teen sleuth and a superhero, complete with heretofore unknown psychic powers.
While our own review wasn't keen on season 1, "Wednesday" broke out in a major way with the youths, not least of all thanks to characters like Wednesday's bubbly werewolf roommate -- and, should all the "Wenclair" shippers get their way,...

Wednesday was one of Netflix’s biggest hits last year, as the supernatural teen drama starring Jenna Ortega in the titular role became a global hit. Of course, a second season was ordered, and we know that the series is going to begin production later this year, probably eyeing a 2025 release date, although we still don’t have any precise confirmation about the release. Numerous rumors have been circulating in the past months about the cast of the new season, and we’ve finally received a major update that confirms all the major names we are going to see in the upcoming season.
The list is quite comprehensive, as we now know all the main actors who are going to be back for the second season, as well as those who’ve been upped to series regulars. Some guest stars have also been confirmed, as well as recurring characters, but...

After Wednesday comes Thursday unless you are a runaway streaming sensation, in which case “Wednesday” Season 2 has just kicked off.
The show, based on the legendary Chas. Addams characters and run for Netflix by Al Gough and Mike Millar-run show (with a creative assist from producer and director Tim Burton), is now shooting in Ireland and there have been some changes in the cast.
New to the Jenna Ortega-led ensemble are the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Steve Buscemi (now given second billing on the show), Olivier-winning British actress Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Australian Noah Taylor. It’s unknown who the new characters are other than their names; Buscemi’s “Barry Dort” does not appear in previous “Addams Family” lore, so it’s anyone’s guess.
As guest stars, the TikTok-primed series now boasts 85-year-old legend Christopher Lloyd, “Absolutely Fabulous” co-star Joanna Lumley, Emmy and BAFTA-winning Thandiwe Newton,...

Netflix on Tuesday morning unveiled the series regular and guest cast for the upcoming second season of its hit Addams Family spinoff series Wednesday, headlined by Jenna Ortega.

While we’d love to believe otherwise, the film is not inspired by a true story. It is based on Meg Cabot’s 2000 young adult novel of the same name, which you can buy on Amazon.
Casting Alternatives for Mia Thermopolis
After Juliette Lewis declined the role of shy American teenager Mia Thermopolis, who learns she is heir to the throne of a European kingdom, the studio considered Liv Tyler, Kirsten Dunst, Alicia Silverstone, Jessica Biel, Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore,...

In one of our recent Wtf episodes, we covered the eye-gouging, eastern European-set filthy shenanigans of Eli Roth’s nicely messed up torture porn movie, Hostel. The film helped pave the way for the exploitation horror subgenre to thrive in the early 2000s, and followed a group of American tourists who get a lot more than they bargained for during a trip to the lovely picturesque country of Slovakia. Poor lads. All they wanted was some promiscuous sex with hot European ladies, but they weren’t counting on a shady organization dishing out decapitation and slit throats, as a side dish to the fornication. The movie, according to the tagline, was ‘based upon true events’ and whether or not you believe this claim, it’s nothing if not brutally demented in parts. So, like any other horror movie that manages to whip up a frenzy with critics and fans alike,...

In honor of Thanksgiving now playing in theaters, I decided to take a look at the filmography of Eli Roth. After spending a few days watching films like Cabin Fever, Hostel and The Green Inferno, I cried in the shower for about twenty minutes and am vegan now!
In no particular order, here are the most gnarly moments of Roth’s fun career in horror…
“I’m Never Gonna Shave Again” – Cabin Fever (2002)
Without a doubt my favorite Eli Roth film and in my opinion one of the most underrated horror comedies of all time, Cabin Fever features tons of laughs and gross-out scares. One in particular that is hard to forget. Specifically, for those who shave their legs.
After Sweet Lou (the always memorable Joey Kern) decides to reasonably say “To hell with all of you since you Won’T Stop Touching The Bleeding And Infected People” and storm...

A babymoon is supposed to be a relaxing pre-birth break, but it looks set to take on a very different meaning on You're Not Supposed to Be Here.
The Lifetime movie will debut on Saturday, November 4, at 8/7c, and the first trailer is insane.
Chrishell Stause stars opposite Diora Baird, with the pair playing a couple whose babymoon to a remote mountain town is anything but peaceful.
The movie came from a concept by Lauren Caster, who won The WrapWomen and Lifetime PitchFest for Emerging Female Filmmakers in 2021 as part of Lifetime's Broader Focus initiative that supports female creatives.
"When pregnant lesbian couple Zoe and Kennedy struggle with the stress of work and family life, Kennedy's boss offers them a cabin getaway in the woods," the logline teases.
"When they arrive at the beautiful cabin located in a remote mountain town, the locals aren't all overly welcoming," Lifetime adds.

Plot: After her dead friend’s cat runs away, Anna grows desperate to find him, ignoring the fact that her life (and body) are totally falling apart.
Review: Booger deals with the aftermath of a massive loss and how that can affect a person. Your twenties are a tough time regardless of circumstance so adding in the loss of a best friend is enough to push most people over the edge. So it’s easy to understand where Anna is coming from. Her friend Izzy isn’t simply just another person, its someone who knew the very being of Anna. Losing Izzy means that Anna has lost a part of herself, so her grief is for more than just physical loss. And anyone that’s experienced intense grief knows how strangely that can manifest itself.
Some films stand out for their characters, their story, or even their visual language. But...

Unable to come to terms with her best friend and roommate Izzy’s death, Anna (Grace Glowicki) does everything possible to avoid that which she cannot fix by focusing her energy on something she can. Or, at least, something she thinks she can fix. Because there are no guarantees Anna will find Booger the cat once he leaves out the fire escape window. No guarantees he wants to come back.
He isn’t even her cat, after all. Izzy is the one who found him stowed away in their shared apartment. She’s the one who decided to adopt him as theirs. Losing him after having just lost her thus becomes a bridge too far for Anna, already forced to comprehend a future alone, without the one person on Earth she never thought she had to worry about truly leaving.
So whether it’s just a task to distract herself...

In writing and talking a lot about coming of age movies for the past 20 years or more, I’ve often observed that – very broadly speaking – European cinema tends to confront the harsher realities of growing up, while American cinema likes to put a little gloss on; a slight rose tint to the glasses with which it views childhood and the teen years. Todd Solondz isn’t particularly interested in that.
Welcome to the Dollhouse is often mistaken as being Solondz’ debut, but it follows the rarely screened Fear, Anxiety and Depression, which has never had a disc release to date. By all accounts though, this is where the director first truly stamped his distinctive style on a film.

After first breaking out with roles in Arrow and Sirens and portraying Emilio Estefan in the Broadway musical, On Your Feet!, Josh Segarra has established himself as one of TV’s funniest supporting players, especially thanks to his turns as footwear enthusiast and rising designer Lance Arroyo on HBO Max’s The Other Two and the fun-loving supportive lawyer Pug on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law on Disney+.
This year, things only promise to get bigger for the 36-year-old actor, who kicks things off with a coveted role in Scream VI before following the slasher up with debuts of The Other Two season 3, which is currently filming in New York City, and The Big Door Prize, Apple TV+’s new comedy led by Chris O’Dowd.

In the lead-up to the movie, a number of ending spoilers were leaked out to the press, which all turned out to be fake, by design.

The “Scream” cinematic universe could have looked very different had one of its original stars not been killed off.
“Scream 2” screenwriter Kevin Williamson, who originated the franchise, expressed regret at writing off Jamie Kennedy’s character Randy, who succumbed to Ghostface in the sequel. Cinephile Randy made a posthumous video appearance in “Scream 3” with sister Martha (Heather Matarazzo) assisting Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Dewey (David Arquette), and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) to track down the new serial killer in Los Angeles.
For the 25th anniversary of “Scream 2,” Williamson opened up about the sequel writing process and why he chose Randy to kick the bucket.
“I thought if you kill someone really important to the audience in the middle, it just ups the stakes,” Williamson told Entertainment Weekly. “Everything’s off the table. I knew we weren’t going to kill Sidney, I knew we weren’t going to kill Gale or Dewey.

The Princess of Genovia is back!
An individual with knowledge of the project told IndieWire that a third “Princess Diaries” film is currently in early development. The script is being penned by Aadrita Mukerji (“Supergirl”), as The Hollywood Reporter first noted. The third film will serve as a continuation of the original film series as a sequel to the 2001 and 2004 movies starring Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews.
No casting announcements have been made. Sources would not confirm whether Anne Hathaway will reprise her role, yet the “Princess Diaries” breakout star previously voiced her support for a proposed third film.
“I would more than entertain it, I’m pulling for it,” Hathaway told Entertainment Tonight in October 2022. “If there’s any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work. We would go to where she was and put a green screen behind her and just make it happen.

“I think that if you are the head of a franchise and you are, in part, what cemented said franchise and you have a film that’s making hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars, that the lead actor that played Sidney Prescott, which is the protagonist of all protagonists, should be paid what she’s worth,” Matarazzo said.

HBO Max is about to say farewell to a number of fantastic films, but this time it's not related to their current slaughter. Since HBO Max first launched in May 2020, the streamer has consistently had absolutely stellar offerings of original programming and acquisitions alike, but these days it's hard to keep track with everything they keep sending to the gallows. HBO Max has served as the final streaming resting place for much of the catalog of their parent company, Warner Bros., and yet there are a surprising number of Warner Bros. releases leaving HBO Max at the end of September. Odd.
Regardless, here are five films leaving HBO Max that are absolutely worth checking out before they're sent back into the void ... or hopefully to another streamer.

When Heather Matarazzo’s indelible film debut “Welcome to the Dollhouse,” went to the Sundance Film Festival in 1996, the young star didn’t attend. “I didn’t go,” she told IndieWire during a recent interview. “Sony wouldn’t pay for me.” Now, it’s hard to imagine a breakout star of Matarazzo’s caliber, let alone the lead of a Grand Jury Prize winner, not being feted in the mountains of Park City.
At the time — and, as a tween herself — she wasn’t fazed by the decision on the part of distributor Sony Pictures Classics. “I didn’t know what a big deal it was,” she said.
Matarazzo’s performance as Dawn Wiener was a shock to the system. In Solondz’s pastel-colored New Jersey suburbia, Dawn is a gangly 11-year-old with glasses whose classmates call her “lesbo” and whose teachers chide her for being a “grade grubber.” Matarazzo,...
