In a scene early in The Fall Guy, a nameless crewmember buckles Ryan Gosling’s seat belt as his character is about to attempt a cannon roll, a classic car stunt, on the set of a fictional science fiction movie called Metal Storm. Gosling plays Hollywood stuntman Colt Seavers, who is reluctantly returning to the film business after an injury, but in many ways the real star of the scene is the background actor buckling him in, Logan Holladay. Though his screen time lasts only a few moments, Holladay was the real-life stunt driver for Gosling — the one who actually steered a Jeep Grand Cherokee down a Sydney beach and rolled it eight and a half times on the sand, breaking the Guinness world record of seven rolls set by Adam Kirley, the driver of James Bond’s Aston Martin in 2006’s Casino Royale.

The 80s were a time when country music and a type of hero born of the good ol boy class that came into his own. This could be seen in shows like The Dukes Of Hazzard, Bj and The Bear, as well as movies like Any Which Way But Loose and Smokey and the Bandit. They were a time of what would be considered fun action films and TV. Again, this was personified in shows where usually no one got seriously hurt, like The A-Team. The bad guys went to the same shooting school as your friendly neighborhood Stormtroopers. But, one TV show that would personify this “nobody better get hurt” adventure series was The Fall Guy.

Plot: After being gravely injured, a stuntman named Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) tries to win back his ex, a movie director named Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt), by finding the star of her mega-budget action movie, who’s gone missing after falling in with a dangerous crowd.
Review: The Fall Guy is director David Leitch’s love letter to the stunt profession. For those not in the know, Leitch, before becoming a director known for blockbusters like Bullet Train and Deadpool 2, was a stuntman, having worked on a slew of action classics. With this, he pays homage to an industry that was best described recently by Nicolas Cage, who said in an interview, “Every movie star needs to be a stunt man, every stunt man needs to be a movie star.”

Catch another look at next month’s The Fall Guy, which has everything apart from Ryan Gosling singing. Here’s the new trailer:
Following his performance of I’m Just Ken at this month’s Oscars, Ryan Gosling is set to play another take on the ‘I’m just an overlooked dude’ character, this time as the amazingly-named Colt Seavers in The Fall Guy.
A new trailer has having landed for the action romance, out next month. And along with a Gosling voiceover – and a one-liner that raised our anticipation threefold – it looks like we’ll be seeing him do lots of stunt work as he portrays TV’s most famous fictional stuntman. It’s a big screen reimagining of the 1980s television show that starred The Six Million Dollar Man himself, Lee Majors.

A hilarious, hard-driving, all-star apex-action thriller film + love letter to action movies and the hard-working, under-appreciated crew of people who make them. With his triumphant Oscar night performance of 'I'm Just Ken' still ringing in our collective lug-holes, it's a good time to be Ryan Thomas Gosling. And given the positive buzz from its recent initial screening at the SXSW, signs are good for his next cinematic outing, The Fall Guy, to continue the era of Funny Gosling that anyone who loved The Nice Guys has been anticipating for years. Check out the latest trailer:
Set to a version of Journey's 'Any Way You Want It,' it's a funny blast of Ott action and Gosling being uber-charming with Emily Blunt. As for the film itself, it's the latest offering from David Leitch, who has shown a knack for blending action with laughs of late, especially with Bullet Train.

An action rom-com with all the elements for something iconic, David Leitch’s The Fall Guy features truly remarkable stunt work and charismatic performances by Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, yet buckles under the weight of its plot. Adapted from a 1981 action series that lasted five years, the film would have been best-served as a complete reboot jettisoning much of a plot that intrudes and ultimately means less time for Blunt and Gosling together.
What remains, though, is a love letter to the craft of stunt work with stuntman-turned-director Leitch providing a behind-the-scenes peek both on the set of the giant-budget action film Blunt’s Jody Moreno is directing and, later, during the film’s credit sequence. Hollywood stunt people are a breed apart. They look at a skyscraper, and wonder what floor from which they could plummet onto an airbag. They encounter a ravine, and instantly want to hop astride a motorcycle and jump it. They see a fellow stunt performer get blasted with fire extinguishers after being set ablaze, and think to themselves, "I could've stayed on fire longer than that." They're wild folk, and they can make the kind of movie magic you'll savor for a lifetime.
For movie lovers, stunt people like Dar Robinson, Vic Armstrong, and Evelyn Finley are as legendary as the stars they doubled. Among casual moviegoers, however, they aren't nearly as appreciated as they should be. So when films like Richard Rush's "The Stunt Man," Hal Needham's "Hooper," or David Leitch's forthcoming "The Fall Guy" (based on the classic 1980s TV series starring Lee Majors) crash into theaters,...

Where would the action film genre be without the tireless efforts of stunt doubles taking the hard hits for Hollywood’s marque stars? It takes a special kind of person to lay their life on the line for entertainment, even if the adrenaline rush is intoxicating. Ryan Gosling knows how essential stunt doubles are to his career, and he’s making sure everyone else knows it too, with the release of his new film The Fall Guy. The David Leitch-directed thrill ride premiered at SXSW on Tuesday. While there, Ryan Gosling sang the praises of stunt people throughout his career, saying they’ve always been an integral part of his filmmaking experience and he wouldn’t be where he is without them.

They take the punches, they jump through windows, they get set on fire, they ride the motorcycles through narrow alleyways and down steep staircases at death-defying speeds. They are the stunt men and women who make it seem as if the folks whose names are above the title are risking their lives just to entertain you, the viewer. In today’s pixel-eat-pixel world where VFX and CGI rule the roost, these fearless performers may seem like an anomaly — a throwback to an analog era where actual humans [gasp] had to provide...

At this year’s Academy Awards, “The Fall Guy” stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt presented a video tribute to stunt performers that included clips ranging from the silent era up through recent action juggernauts like “Rrr” and the “Fast & Furious” series. It was a step forward for a group whose contributions are frequently undervalued despite, as Blunt put it, “risk[ing] life and limb” for cinema. And yet, the segment didn’t come with an award attached.

The Fall Guy had its world premiere at SXSW just last night and reviews right out of the gate are explosive, with many calling it one of the best action comedies in years. This is pretty awesome to hear considering the movie is based on a TV show that most of us likely never watched and some of us may have never heard of.
But the hype is real for The Fall Guy, so let’s check out some of the praise:
The Fall Guy is one of the best action comedies in years. If Tropic Thunder, Lethal Weapon, & Fletch had a baby this is it. Pure entertainment. Somehow Ryan Gosling is even better in this than Barbie. Sorry, not sorry.

In 99% of Hollywood movies, the goal is to make the stunt work invisible. Audiences are supposed to believe that the star — or better yet, the character he plays — put his own life at risk jumping off buildings, blowing up cars or duking it out with squads of bad guys. In “The Fall Guy,” the stuntman gets to be the hero (of an insanely overcomplicated story), while the star is a prima donna who claims to do all his own stunts but needs his double to step in when things get tough.
“The Fall Guy” is funny, it’s sexy, and it features the boy’s-toy version of “Barbie” scene-stealer Ryan Gosling — which is to say, after playing a Ken doll, now he embodies the ultimate action figure. This is the charisma-radiating side of Gosling audiences love (as opposed to expressionless “Only God Forgives” Gosling), and though his character doesn’t have much depth,...

We’re still two months away from the release of Ryan Gosling’s action comedy The Fall Guy, but the actor has already gotten the seal of approval from someone very special: Steven Spielberg.
Ryan Gosling told Variety that he ran into Steven Spielberg at the Golden Globes, with the director telling him that he loved The Fall Guy. “I saw Steven Spielberg walking in my direction,” Gosling said. “I don’t know Steven Spielberg. I thought there’s no way he’s coming to talk to me. And yet he kept getting closer, and then I thought I know what’s going to happen. I’m going to point to him, and he’s going to go, ‘Not you, behind you,’ so I’m not going to do that. Finally I said, ‘Me?’ and he goes, ‘Yeah you.’ I go, ‘I’m sorry I didn’t think you were coming to talk to me.

This is going to stun anyone who grew up on 21st century superhero cinema (which kicked off in 2000 with Bryan Singer's "X-Men" and only now seems to be on the wane), but what if I told you that in the 1970s, there were television series dedicated to the Hulk, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man, and they weren't the main small-screen pop cultural obsessions for sci-fi/fantasy fans? Not even close.

Whether you remember the hit 1980s TV series “The Fall Guy” with Lee Majors or not, it almost doesn’t matter. Universal’s version of “The Fall Guy” looks almost nothing like it, and the plot also looks like nothing like the stories in the series. But it’s the spirit of it that really seems to translate: something big, cocky, confident, and charismatic with a sense of playfulness, danger, and romance.

With a film based on one cult TV series on the way, it appears that David Leitch is not done digging into nostalgia for movies. He and his 87North production partners are now developing a film based on 1970s series Kung Fu, with Donnie Yen lined up to star.
Stephen Chin has written the script for the new film, which will put a new spin on the show. Created by Ed Spielman, the original series ran between 1972 and 1975 on ABC and starred David Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine, a master martial artist who fled China after his master was murdered.

As much as people complain about Hollywood putting out the same things year after year, the fact remains that name recognition gets people into theater seats. Moreover, remakes and reboots give filmmakers an opportunity to retell beloved stories from a different perspectives. In this age of high-budgets and higher-expectations, reboots and remakes are among the only types of movies that major studios like to make these days.
So whether you’re feeling cynical about this year’s offerings or optimistic about the second swings filmmakers are taking, here are the biggest reboots and remakes coming in 2024.
Mean Girls (January 12)
Although the promotional materials tried to do their best to conceal it, the 2024 Mean Girls doesn’t so much adapt the beloved 2004 comedy, but rather the Broadway musical that followed. Which means that, yes, viewers will hear more songs than “Jingle Bell Rock.” Singer Reneé Rapp reprises her stage performance as lead Plastic Regina George,...

Gosling is currently seeing some awards recognition for his song in Barbie, “I’m Just Ken.” Meanwhile, his upcoming action-comedy, The Fall Guy, is adapted from the TV series of the same name and featured a theme song called “Unknown Stuntman,” which was sung by the show’s star, Lee Majors. Although Gosling is making a run at the music world with Ken the EP, he will not be singing the theme song for The Fall Guy like Majors did. However, Gosling is happy to be friends with Majors since they connected for the film.

Ryan Gosling has sung in a number of his movies, notably Lars and the Real Girl, La La Land and of course Barbie. And the upcoming release of The Fall Guy – an adaptation of the ‘80s TV show – seems ripe for another Gosling serenade. After all, the show’s theme song, “Unknown Stuntman”, was actually sung by the show’s star, Lee Majors. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like Gosling will be following suit.
When asked by People if he would be taking on the song for The Fall Guy, Ryan Gosling – who also led a pretty awesome band, Dead Man’s Bones – said, “I’m not, but it’s in the film and a pretty great artist sings it…I’m excited for people to hear it.” The artist he’s referring to, for what it’s worth, is American Country Award winner Blake Shelton.

Mark Wahlberg says they are hoping to get Lee Majors to make a cameo in his movie adaptation of 'The Six Billion Dollar Man'.The latter had the starring role as former astronaut, Usaf Colonel Steve Austin, in 1970s TV classic, and Mark, 52, has been trying to get the film up and running since 2014, when he was cast in the titular role, with various changes to studios, directors and so forth setting them back. However, he's hopeful the flick will make it to the big screen and confirmed they are "pursuing" Lee, 84, for an appearance. He told Parade magazine: "I've spoken to Lee on a number of occasions. Unfortunately, most of the time I had to call Lee and tell him, 'Well, it's not happening yet but we're not giving up hope.'"Asked if he will appear in the movie, he said: "We would love that, and I know he would love that.

When we talk about classic TV shows from the '70s, it's hard not to mention "The Six Million Dollar Man." Airing for five seasons on ABC, the show focuses on astronaut Steve Austin who is gravely injured in a spaceship crash. He then undergoes a government surgery that replaces his body parts with machine parts, making him part man, part cyborg. With the new powers afforded him by these upgrades, Steve goes to work for the Office of Scientific Information, battling evil forces.
The show ran for 99 episodes and inspired six TV movies. Mark Wahlberg has even been attached to star in a big-screen adaptation of the show for years now, with the project stalling out at various points. But Lee Majors was the man responsible for originally bringing the character to life. 50 years removed from the show's premiere on network television, Majors and several other of the show's...

David Leitch’s The Fall Guy, an adaption of the old Lee Majors TV show, is crashing into a new release date. Initially slated for March 1, 2024, The Fall Guy’s release date has now been moved to May 3, 2024, a prime date recently vacated by Deadpool 3. The SAG-AFTRA strike impacted that latter movie, but it is still slated for a July 26, 2024, summer release.
While not initially planned as a summer blockbuster, The Fall Guy is the perfect way to kick off the season. It benefits from the fact that it will be Ryan Gosling’s first post-Barbie role, with that being the biggest hit of his career with a staggering $1.4 Billion worldwide gross. Many believe Gosling will be a Best Supporting Actor Oscar contender for playing Ken, with his comic performance universally praised.

Universal Pictures is pushing back the release of The Fall Guy starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. The action comedy film was originally set to premiere on March 1, 2024, and will now drop on Friday, May 3, 2024.
The move will put the movie in Deadpool 3’s former slot, which Marvel recently announced had moved to July 26 of next year.
The Fall Guy revolves around Gosling’s Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman who, having left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health, is drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie—being directed by his ex, Jody Moreno (Blunt), goes missing.

The Fall Guy is crash-landing a little later than expected.
The action film, starring Ryan Gosling, was originally set to hit theaters March 1, 2024 and will instead be released May 3, 2024, the date originally held by Deadpool 3 before it moved to July 26, 2024.
The new date makes the Universal film, which also stars Emily Blunt, the first feature of the summer box office, which is now looking lighter than normal due to the actors strike. The Ryan Reynolds threequel isn’t the only major film to move its date. Captain America: New World Order left 2024 altogether and will instead be released in February 2025.

Universal Pictures is relocating the unknown stuntman. The studio announced Tuesday that its upcoming adaptation of the 1980s TV series “The Fall Guy” is moving to May 3, 2024.
The news comes less than a week after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, which kickstarted Hollywood production after the months-long halt to most industry business.
Starring Ryan Gosling in the role originated by Lee Majors, the film follows Colt Seavers, a stunt performer who moonlights as a private investigator. While working on a film directed by his ex, Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt), he’s recruited by the film’s producer (Hannah Waddingham) to find the film’s missing star (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) while keeping his disappearance a secret from the studio and the public.

His job is stunt.
For his first role following “Barbie,” Ryan Gosling will star as a stuntman on the search for a pampered movie star gone missing in the action comedy “The Fall Guy.” On Thursday, Universal debuted the first trailer for the film, which also stars Emily Blunt, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the lost star.
“He’s done action, he’s done romance, he’s done comedy, but this movie allowed him to do all of it,” “The Fall Guy” director David Leitch told Vanity Fair about Gosling. “The stunt crews that [Gosling] has worked with and that I’ve come up with, we’re not jaded. We’re not like, ‘Oh, we don’t get the credit…’ We love making movies. He just wanted to bring a stuntman like that to life, and he wanted to find a real motivation for this character in the love story.

David Leitch and his incredible action team from his production company, 87North, are taking on the movie adaptation of the 80s TV series The Fall Guy, which stars just Ken himself, Ryan Gosling, and Emily Blunt. Leitch has carved out a nice little resume for himself with films including John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Hobbs & Shaw and the recent Brad Pitt actioner, Bullet Train. Leitch’s history as a stuntman in movies that include the Matt Damon Bourne movies can be attributed to the Lee Majors show that is near and dear to his heart, and he is now directing Ryan Gosling in the titular role for the movie version.

In “The Fall Guy,” based on the 1980s television series of the same name and due out next spring, Ryan Gosling plays a stunt performer roped into a larger conspiracy and Emily Blunt is the director who loves him (at least some of the time). Unsurprisingly, their chemistry is palpable. You can watch the brand-new trailer above.
Gosling plays a stuntman named Colt who is working on a movie being directed by his ex-flame (Blunt), who is recruited by the film’s producer (Hannah Waddingham) to find the movie’s missing star (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). Judging by the trailer, Colt will be drawn into a larger mystery involving goons and god knows what else, all while trying to woo back his former love. And if there’s one thing we need right now, it’s a lighthearted action rom-com.
