A Moonstone Entertainment production Cyrus has been picked up by distributors and a release date, for 2009, will be coming shortly. Cyrus was made for a modest budget of between one to three million and the film stars Lance Henriksen, as the friend of a cannibal farmer. A horror film that knows how to use darkly lit sets and eerie music to amp up the tension, Cyrus now has a full trailer, which can be seen below. Check out the cast and crew for the flick, as well.
A synopsis for Cyrus here:
"Inspired by a true story, a small independent news crew, made up of reporter Maria Consolo and her camera man Tom, investigates a series of unexplained disappearances in a small Midwestern county. The story leads them to the isolated town of Arkham Heights, where they find themselves interviewing Emmett who possesses an all too intimate knowledge of the »

Around a week or so ago we reported that Automaton Transfusion director Steven C. Miller was readying a new project for After Dark Films called Scream of the Banshee. Today we learned exclusively about some pretty neat casting news.
A source close to the production who would like to remain anonymous (we always love how dramatic saying stuff like that sounds) has reported to us that both Lance Henriksen and Lauren Holly will have roles in the movie. We don't know whom the duo will be playing or how big their roles will be at this time, but there it is.
Look for more on Scream of the Banshee soon.

If you have been eagerly anticipating Friday’s release of The Fourth Kind, here is a creepy little featurette from Universal and Yahoo Movies to prime you for the movie — which you can watch after the jump. It’s no spoiler to note that the plot of the movie has to do with missing people in Alaska, and possible alien abduction. This featurette provides a back-story, so to speak, about the four different kinds of alien encounters.
Still can’t sate your appetite for alien abduction? If so, take a look at these other genre titles while you are biding your time. And, look for our review of The Fourth Kind on Friday.
• Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) – Arguably the best known in the genre. This movie terrified me when I saw it as a child. Steven Speilberg’s follow up to Jaws racked up several oscar nominations and won for best cinematography. »

Anchor Bay Films is going to get a pass from me for a while because they picked up Broken Lizard’s newest film, “The Slammin’ Salmon” and will distribute it to theaters this December. Every time I saw an update from Bl on Facebook, I would wonder when I would finally get to see the movie which premiered at Slamdance this past January. Now I get to see it before the end of the year and I’m beyond excited. Hit the jump for details.
Some people don’t enjoy the comedy of Broken Lizard but I try not to associate with these people. While I still think their breakout film “Super Troopers” is their best, I also have “Club Dread” and “Beerfest” sitting on my shelf. But “Super Troopers” is one of those rare comedies that only gets better with every viewing. While it’s unfair for me to »

Hang on a minute... Sam Worthington is being linked to Mad Max 4 now? Steady on, ABC News. At least they're sticking to the Charlize Theron part of the story. But what's that about the project taking two and a half years? Blimey. 30 weeks of that will be at Broken Hill, the location for Mad Max 2, so far the series' zenith. Another 15 little newslets that haven't made it to the front page for some mysterious reason or another coming right up after this break. Lance Henriksen has been talking with "some independent producers that really want to put the money up" for a feature film of Chris Carter's Millennium. Henriksen's up for it, he tells Aint it Cool, but is telling the producers to not move ahead without Carter. Courtesy of Twitch, here's the trailer for Boogie El Aceitoso, a rather aggressive toon from Argentina that has hit their »

Near Dark (1987) Synopsis: A cowboy (Adrian Pasdar) meets a pretty, young gal at the local saloon and discovers too late that her kiss includes a double-pronged love bite of vampiric proportions. Mae (Jenny Wright) and her blood-sucking vampire family (half the cast of Aliens) take Caleb for a ride in their Winnebago and try to make him one of them. But as any good cowboy would, Caleb fights his transformation and sets about rescuing the pale-skinned love of his life. The family isn't too keen on that idea of course and soon the small Texas town is awash in blood, burning flesh, and bar fights. Killer Scene: Speaking of bar fights... Caleb's introduction to the family's unique hobby occurs in a sleazy bar almost halfway into the movie. After insulting the bartender and patrons ("shit-kicker heaven"), the blood-letting begins with a waitress getting her throat slit. More deaths follow including a broken neck, shotgun »

Breathe a sigh of relief, Near Dark fans! The upcoming Blu-ray release is not a bare bones affair. Now if only someone could perform a last minute change to that god-awful Diet-Twilight box art. Then we could be Really happy!
Lionsgate announced today that along with the high-def transfer of Kathryn Bigelow's vampire opus starring Adrian Pasdar, Jenny Wright, Lance Henriksen, and Bill Paxton, we'll also be getting a commentary by Bigelow, the Living in Darkness documentary, deleted scenes with Bigelow's commentary, and trailers.
Ok then. Feeling much better now. Look for Near Dark on November 10th.

Danielle Harris, star of four films in the Halloween franchise, as well as pictures like The Last Boyscout, City Slickers, Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead, and the television series Roseanne was kind enough to sit down with me at the 2009 Spooky Empire convention in Orlando, Florida to talk about her career. The interview was filmed live, but due to surrounding noise I have transcribed the conversation below.
Ja/Fangoria: First of all, can I say how nervous I am that we are making a film with John Landis sitting right over there?
Danielle Harris: (laughs)
Ja: We're here at the Spooky Empire convention in Orlando, Florida, and how has it been going for you so far?
Dh: It's been good! It's been really busy.
Ja: Have you met any creeps so far?
Dh: Not really at this show, only a handful. (laughs)
Ja: You actually lived here in Florida, »

At long last, the cult series Millenium may be paying a visit to the big screen. The show was one of the darkest series in both subject matter and texture to ever grace television screens. It was very stylized, with a neo-gothic colour palette. Key to the series was Lance Henriksen, who starred as Frank Black, "a profiler who has remarkable insight into the minds of killers and other demented souls." Lance was best known as the android Bishop in the Alien trilogy. Millenium ran for three seasons, from 1996-1999, as a darker project from X-Files creator Chris Carter. "While it wasn’t a huge hit, it did acquire many loyal fans during its run and a campaign has been ongoing to try and get some closure on the series." It looks like there may be hope for this project yet. "Lance Henriksen was approached by private investors who wish »
