Fringe — Mrs. Bishop Cast

8 December 2009 8:21 PM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Can you say  "Peter's going to find out where he's really from?"

It's a bit of a mouthful, I know, but it's also the truth. They've been building up to this big reveal since the season one finale, when we first found out that the Peter from this universe had died, and that Walter had brought the Peter we all know over from the alternate universe. Now, we'll possibly see a little more of the Bishop family history with the casting of Walter's wife and Peter's mother, an as-yet unnamed Mrs. Bishop.

She will be portrayed by Irish actress Orla Brady, according to Entertainment Weekly.

If you're asking 'Orla who?', well, there's no real definining work for the actress. In addition to appearing in all six episodes of the TV miniseries Revelation (which aired on NBC in 2005), Brady is also memorable (for those who watch the show) as James Woods’ ex on Shark. …

The Bishop family unit is complete! Irish actress Orla Brady — you may remember her as James Woods' ex on Shark — has nabbed the pivotal role of Walter's other half and mother to Peter, sources confirm to me exclusively. The character — described in the initial casting breakdown as strong, smart, and likable — will debut in early '10. Thoughts? She kind of has a Lena Olin vibe going for her, no? Woods Settles Hospital Lawsuit

2 December 2009 4:06 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Acclaimed actor James Woods has settled a lawsuit against the hospital where his brother died in 2006, with medical officials conceding mistakes were made.

The Casino star's younger sibling Michael passed away at the Kent Hospital in Rhode Island after reportedly suffering a heart attack, aged 49.

Woods, who is executor of his brother's estate, filed a wrongful death suit against the medical facility in early November, claiming doctors didn't do enough to save Michael.

A judge declared the case had been settled on Tuesday, with hospital representatives admitting mistakes had been made in Michael treatment. They also pledged to open an institute in the 49 year old's name and offered up $1.25 million (£780,000) which will be put towards reducing errors and improving treatment.

Woods made a tearful statement after the case was concluded, telling reporters he's relieved hospital officials finally apologised and he's grateful something positive has come of his brother's tragic death.

He says, "It was all I ever needed to see, one human being saying to another human being 'I’m sorry for your loss.' It makes it possible for me to go to my brother’s grave and ask if I’ve done the right thing.” …

Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths Trailer

25 November 2009 12:48 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Warner Home Entertainment’s newest animated effort featuring DC Comics Heroes and villains: Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, arrives on DVD February 23rd, 2010.  The film features villains from the classic DC Crime Syndicate.  Check out an image and the trailer after the jump.

Created back when goatees marked your obvious ill intent, the Csa is made up of evil, alternate reality versions of Earth’s own heroes, who didn’t wear masks!  Though the Csa met it’s end in the original Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline, they none-the-less returned years later in a classic story arc by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely.

Like Green Lantern: First Flight and Warner’s other recent DC Comics Home Entertainment entries, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, will carry a rating of PG-13, reminding us that Warner doesn’t just consider these super hero adventures as “strictly for kids”.  Though February seems far away, …

Previews: Crisis On Two Earths Gets a Trailer

25 November 2009 6:20 AM, PST | doorQ.com | See recent doorQ.com news »

Now that's what I'm talkin' about: Superman kicks Superman's ass!

Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths now has a trailer and it's a pretty cool one at that. The story, about the evil dopplangers of the Jla from another dimension -- and why are the dopplangers always evil? Why aren't they gay? Or naked? Or naked and gay? 'Cause they are in my fantasies -- is the latest outing from Warner Animation.

With a top notch voice cast (James Woods! Mark Harmon!) and excellent production values, I'm planning on watching this -- even though the Green Lantern will, no doubt, only use his ring for "appropriate" purposes.

The film is out in February of 2010.  Source: Trailer for “Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths” Released : Slice of SciFi …

Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Dennis Neville, the original Hawkman first appeared in Flash Comics #1, published by All-American Publications in 1940. Taking Woodstock and cinema's love of trippy scenes | Anne Billson

There are plenty of trippy movie scenes – but watching them sober makes you feel like the designated driver in a roomful of drunks

Thirty-six years ago, I dropped a tab of Lsd. It was Ok, but I never felt the urge to do it again, and never thought much about it – until the other day, when I was watching Taking Woodstock. To the sound of Love's The Red Telephone, Ang Lee serves up an acid trip so uncannily spot-on, I swear it gave me my first ever flashback.

It's not as though there's ever been a shortage of trippy scenes in films. It's just they always seemed to chime more with the experiences of the film-makers than with my own. Indeed, watching them sober, you often feel like the designated driver in a roomful of babbling drunks. In the aptly-named The Trip, Peter Fonda has a psychedelic experience in which, …

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths Trailer

Back when I reviewed DC Universe’s most excellent Superman/Batman: Public Enemies animated feature, my exploration of the special features uncovered a sneak preview of the next offering from Dce’s animated division, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. Taken from DC’s famous “Crisis” canon of stories, the new direct-to-dvd/Blu-ray will focus on our favorite superhero team’s perilous adventure to an alternate Earth.
