Photo: New Line Cinema Nikki Blonsky must have been praying recently because it appears she may once again get a chance to be seen on the big screen as New Line Cinema has made a deal with Hairspray creator John Waters to write a treatment for a sequel to 2007's box-office hit. The Variety article bringing the news gives off the idea this may be something small in the works, but already set to return are director-choreographer Adam Shankman, producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron and Tony-winning songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, who will write new songs for the film. New Line hopes to bring back all the original cast despite the fact none of them had sequel clauses in their original contracts. This would mean the returnof John Travolta as Edna along with Christopher Walken, Nikki Blonsky, Zac Efron, Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, James Marsden, Amanda Bynes, Elijah Kelley and Allison Janney.

Batman star Lee Meriwether has revealed the unusual audition technique that landed her a role in the history-making film - licking herself.
The 73-year-old actress, who starred as Catwoman in the 1966 Batman film, beat out hundreds of women for the role.
And she says it was her feline-like ways that convinced director Leslie Martinson she was perfect for the part.
Meriwether says, "Julie Newmar played the role originally then she couldn't do the film. I was lucky, I auditioned - I got the part over hundreds of gals.
"I curled up in a chair and licked my hand. I was a cat."
The role of Catwoman has since been reprised by stars including Eartha Kitt, Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Irish comic Graham Norton has profusely apologised to his movie co-star Michelle Pfeiffer for polluting her airspace with his smelly breath - blaming the incident on the on-set caterers.
Norton teamed up with the Hollywood actress for a cameo in her film I Could Never Be Your Woman - and gorged on a series of malodorous culinary treats before being summoned to shoot his scene with Pfeiffer.
And Norton was horrified when he was told to stand "unnaturally" close to the screen star.
He tells Heat magazine, "What I didn't understand is that, in film, because they're spending all their money on Michelle Pfeiffer, they want her on-screen as much as possible. So, in order for her to be in the shot when I was speaking, we had to be unnaturally close.
"I wasn't thinking and was eating all this on-set catering, then went in and we were so close while talking, it was horrible. I did apologise first and she offered me some mints. The shame of it."

Michelle Pfeiffer is desperate to star in a remake of seventies movie musical Grease - and she wants Jessica Simpson to play Sandy. The actress is desperately embarrassed about her performance in the ill-fated Grease 2, and wants to erase all memory of it by making a new version of the original film. Pfieffer is thrilled by reports Simpson is being touted to play prom queen Sandy Dumbrowski - and has her eye on the role of the comical Principal McGee. She says, "It's a great idea, and I hear they would like to get Jessica Simpson for the role of Sandy. She would be good." Pfeiffer adds of her own Grease experience, "I hated that film (Grease 2) with a vengeance and could not believe how bad it was. At the time, was young and didn't know better... I hear it's a cult movie now."
