- DirectorDenis VilleneuveStarsTimothée ChalametZendayaRebecca FergusonPaul Atreides unites with Chani and the Fremen while seeking revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family.lowtosolid7/10, so controversial opinion; I don't love this movie as everyone else did but I did like it way way more than the first by at least 2 or 1 point. It was paced better and so was the action. The cgi was more consistent and so was the cinematography. It looked gorgeous. The acting was pretty good though I wouldn't really write home about anything with timonthy who I think did great at times but also would mug the camera with his gorgeous model face and was posing the whole time. Not like he doesn't do that all the time but it was very noticeable here. The story has improved and I noticed I was paying more attention now than the first although by the third act I was starting not to (that last fight though made me happy.) I don't know maybe seeing it for a second time will help like it did the first to clear things up but for now this belongs near the middle bottom or bottom top (lol)
- DirectorJohan RenckStarsAdam SandlerCarey MulliganPaul DanoHalf a year into his solo mission on the edge of the solar system, an astronaut concerned with the state of his life back on Earth is helped by an ancient creature he discovers in the bowels of his ship.solidtohigh5/10, very very mid. The metaphors were very obvious and the point they were making wasn't anything new, neither was the story or acting. Honestly I don't see why you would want to see this again because most of it is just surface level. If you want a better space film where the guy goes insane then watch Moon(2009). Not that Adam Sandler did a bad job but i was simply just unimpressed. The special effects and the set were well done but I wish they were in service of the story rather than there just to glide around. Yeah yeah I get it, he's very distant with his relationship as shown by him being in space and the spider is his conscience. It's like a student art films first film with a budget. See it if you like scifi and adam sandler (tbh sounds like a good deal which is why I saw it) but don't expect the best of the best or even a deep movie. You probably won't feel like youre getting it here. Very repetitive and very shallow. Chernobyl was way way better, stick to that material mate (maybe that's too mean but what I am saying is he makes better long form content than short, at least with this movie and if he wants to continue down this route)
- DirectorDavid ZellnerNathan ZellnerStarsJesse EisenbergRiley KeoughChristophe Zajac-DenekA year in the life of a unique family. It captures the daily life of the Sasquatch with a level of detail and rigor that is simply unforgettable.
- DirectorLance OppenheimStarsAtasha Peña ClayTyree KellyAri NagelThree men enter the new wild west of baby making - online forums where sperm donors connect with hopeful parents - but find themselves exchanging more than just genetic material.
- DirectorS.J. ClarksonStarsDakota JohnsonSydney SweeneyIsabela MercedCassandra Webb is a New York metropolis paramedic who begins to demonstrate signs of clairvoyance. Forced to challenge revelations about her past, she needs to safeguard three young women from a deadly adversary who wants them destroyed.high10-low1/10, one of the best so bad it's good movies in quite some time. The editing is fucking CRAZY, the 180 rule was thrown out the fucking window in part to show we truly are apart of her web. The acting and action were done by infants in adult bodies and the directing and cinematography was done by someone blind in an infants body. The writing makes me feel like the Coens and the story had to been done by a guy tortured, making up a story out of their ass as they go. Truly the new 2001 of our time. Bow down to Lady Web, she traps all in her snare and fests like a pig consuming a dead body. I shutter to imagine what this director makes next. Maybe they make a movie about us? That's scary. It could be you, it could me! it can eve--
- DirectorSean CharmatzStarsJacob TremblayPaul Walter HauserColin HanksA boy with an active imagination faces his fears on an unforgettable journey through the night with his new friend: a giant, smiling creature named Dark.
- DirectorMike MitchellStephanie StineStarsJack BlackAwkwafinaViola DavisAfter Po is tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace, he needs to find and train a new Dragon Warrior, while a wicked sorceress plans to re-summon all the master villains whom Po has vanquished to the spirit realm.low4-high3/10, obviously the worst kung fu panda. Yes I said worst, this one is actually bad sadly. Even 3 being mid was a much more bearable situation than this. Truly the shrek 3 of our time but the fourth and is kung fu panda and still in most of our life times. This is just fodder, almost feels like they were told if they didn't make the movie, they would lose the IP. No passion, straight up toddler key jingling mode. The story is flat and the gimmick has already been done, IN THIS UNIVERSE. I kinda just saw this because of a girl I like (to make conversation really) and we only talked about it for like 2 minutes (she said she liked it so I could be just shitting into the ether). IDK i just hope shrek 5 is good...

- DirectorDan ReedStarsAlex JonesRussell DowdenRob JacobsonCenters on families of the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting. They take Alex Jones, a conspiracy theorist, to court for spreading lies about the event being a hoax.7/10, pretty great yet sad as fuck. We all know this guy is a piece of shit and this just delves in that. No turkey tom he isn't suddenly fine just because you're retarded unfunny ass thought he was funny, he ruined these parents chance to grieve and did much more than that. dude is right occasionally, you know the phrase with the broken clock? anyway this has great presentation and is very enjoyable (in the sense of a very sad docuseries). It's very sleek, edited tightly and has the right interview questions and moments. I still think Channel 5's (All Gas no Brakes) was the best of presenting who this guy actually is but he's hard to beat. This is quality anyway
- DirectorAlex GarlandStarsKirsten DunstWagner MouraCailee SpaenyA journey across a dystopian future America, following a team of military-embedded journalists as they race against time to reach DC before rebel factions descend upon the White House.high6onabaddaylowtosolid?7/10, Alex Garland is a fantastic director and anyone shitting on him recently haven't realized him and controversy have been following him since his first directed movie Ex Machina (if I remember they had an A.I like cleverbot talk to someone on tinder and act like a person just to reveal it was an ad for the movie, tbh that's an actual thing to get mad over than Men or Annihilation or this). I personally haven't found anything he's been attached to, to have been bad. On the contrary, they ALL have been good. Even with this being my least favorite. It starting with his association with Danny Boyle, his literal start. I will say, until I have seen this twice though, I think I did only enjoy this as good as I'm conflicted with some scenes and their inclusion, kind of like Ex Machina and even have problems with some of the characters as they aren't the most exciting. Still as of talking, one of the best of the year's but has some problems that keep it from great and by the end of the year there will be better competition anyway. The positives are it looks fantastic, each scene was shot with careful attention and no show off-ey imagery. and yes while I have a problem with some of the characters, I dont have a problem with the acting nor writing (necessarily, kind of wish it was in place for a character or at least the plot if they were going to go in a more neutral stance anyway). Like what this movie advertises is a hell hath no fury more than a scorned nation and in the end you're like: that..... wasn't that. The best scenes are actually funny enough the ones where the main characters aren't in it. Even the Jesse Plemins type who turned out to be underwhelming was more memorable. Ah idk I like this film but I need another go before I decide if it's great. Probably will end at just good but hey who knows. I've gone up and down on scores radically so we will see. probably will rewatch in the near future, just not in theatres.
- DirectorJim CummingsStarsTaylor MisiakJulia BalesDustin HahnSometimes you don't realize how thirsty you are until it's right in front of you.solidtohigh7/10, I loved Thunder Road and liked the Wolf of Snow Hollow and I haven't seen the Beta Test for some reason but I checked this out because it was a short and it was free. Although I haven't heard good things about the Beta Test, this was really enjoyable for what it was.
It's in short a hilarious drama short. Like a short from Key and Peele or I Think You Should Leave. Sure some of the camera work is to be desired but this wasn't a "big" thing anyway. What's funny is it comes out of nowhere. The title makes it even better. Should have realized there was a setup. Great filmmaker. Remember, you don't need a big hollywood backing or production to make something good or memorable. see it man, it's free and only 11 minutes, no big thinking involved (you can I guess, It could be about how the internet and it's culture has made people way too comfortable to say anything about their lives or something). See Thunder Road and Wolf of Snow Hollow while you are at it because those are very enjoyable too. - DirectorDev PatelStarsDev PatelSharlto CopleyPitobashAn anonymous young man unleashes a campaign of vengeance against the corrupt leaders who murdered his mother and continue to systematically victimize the poor and powerless.
- DirectorAdam WingardStarsRebecca HallBrian Tyree HenryDan StevensTwo ancient titans, Godzilla and Kong, clash in an epic battle as humans unravel their intertwined origins and connection to Skull Island's mysteries.solidtohigh4/10
godzilla fanhigh5/10, so I have a controversial take apparently. And that's the 2014 Godzilla is the best movie to come out of the Godzilla monsterverse movies. My reasoning is that it's the best mix of the godzilla and human plot lines, even considering if we are just talking "fun" as well. The humans were very well acted and the godzilla parts had just enough of them and enough "weight" to the kaijus inclusion and their physics, that it solidified as a Godzilla classic. If you told me of where itd pull up I still wouldn't be that mad but I would be slighttly disappointed. Not that Godzilla wasnt treated as a commodity before, that'd be very funny of me to claim, it's that there was at least more passion there than what is released right now. I think godzilla king of the monsters is easily the worst one. then godzilla versus kong, then King Kong Skull Island (which is actually ok imo, nothing too special). I think I would put this inbetween Skull Island and the 2021 zilla versus kong. This is better than the last one at least by a point. It doesn't treat itself as serious nor does it have a as ugly color tone. But like the last one it is pretty forgettable and by the end didn't feel like the argument of "just enjoy it, it's supposed to be fun" prove itself. Like all the other ones before it besides Skull Island the the 2014 one, the humans don't matter much. No problem, not everyone goes to see them right? well the problem comes when they take up more time than the monsters and now you are forced because you are watching to see them do whatever that'll be forgotten by the time the next movie comes. What I like about Skull Island and the 2014 one are that there are moments and characters I actually remember. They are also more visually interesting somehow too despite being further in time. here the fucking character is ass (at least he is campy) and it still despite some minor improvements looks fucking pussass. The scale going up on destruction has totally fucked everything as well. how are there any humans left at all lmaoooo. I will say Kong was really fun here though. when they did finally cut to them I was for the most part entertained besides some nitpicks. Him using the child as a nunchuck is peak and is akin to what the original godzilla versus kong was going for. Fun entertainment camp. If these two show up again have them do that and have the main person actually be entertaining or funny. on a last note: bad but I didnt fall asleep - DirectorLuca GuadagninoStarsMike FaistJosh O'ConnorZendayaTashi, a former tennis prodigy turned coach, turned her husband into a champion. But to overcome a losing streak, he needs to face his ex-best friend and Tashi's ex-boyfriend.9/10, this is as of talking 5/26/2024, is the best movie of the year. this and furiosa are just classic cinema, classic in the sense of originality and in what they set out to do. furiosa succeeded with action and this with the drama. from luca you can always expect it to be vibrant, full of vigor and visual gusto. he actually has substance to his style too and is no different here. A lot of interesting camera work and fun movement. Weird how suddenly that's a weird thing. The fun and playful way it glides around goes well with the tight editing and amusing music. I always love a good love triangle and this is a good one (it does more than just go 'they all like each other and creates tension because'). Tennis also is in this for more than just backup dressing for the characters. Like lucas's other films: passion, love and the LGBTQ are heavy subjects. what's fantastic about Luca is they are never in a cheesy, melodramatic or forced way; they are always in service for the film or the character (not talking about the LGBTQ in a conservative way, i just mean how romance typically with those minorities in mind seem more pandering, also I am bi so I think it's ok to have an opinion on those issues <that doesnt mean im automatically right either, could be wrong>). Anyway this checks all the boxes I look for when I set out to see a movie. I wish I saw this in the theatres though. Sports heads see it, movie lovers see it. Also the acting is phenomenal, my fav especially from Zendaya
- CreatorRichard GaddStarsRichard GaddJessica GunningNava MauThe story follows writer and performer Richard Gadd's warped relationship with a female stalker and the impact it has on him as he is ultimately forced to face a deep, dark buried trauma.low9-high8/10

- DirectorGeorge MillerStarsAnya Taylor-JoyChris HemsworthTom BurkeThe origin story of renegade warrior Furiosa before her encounter and teamup with Mad Max.high8-low9/10, this is fucking HIM (her). This is fucking awesome. This is the facking titz mate. This is what a blockbuster used to be. Loud and impressive. See this in theatres please, this is an experience supposed to be seen on the biggest screen possible and somehow they are bombing as of 5/28/2024. It must have been like to see the 2014 at the time. It's so epic, full of scope and amusement. The acting is amazing and hammy at the same time but also believable in the universe they set up. It even makes the 2014 better in context. And like that one the action is the selling point. There's rarely not a moment without it. Action comes to this universe like hippies to LSD. I was so excited. It kept getting better and better, the stakes kept going up and up. The drama too is just as good as it expounds on the story you already know. It really helps sell who Furiosa is and why she became who she was. The environment she was born in plays a big part too. Scary to think a form of this reality could come as water and gasoline become more expensive. I shudder at what that will bring and if it hasn't already. Maybe if I did have a complaint it would be that this seems way bigger than the 2014 one and that kinda makes it feel weird at points and I go, "damn, I guess the 2014 was just a small side quest". Kind of like Better Call Saul too brings the tension down once you realize she's going to live. But that being said, it's mostly fun anyway and I can look past that because this is just so good otherwise. Maybe at very small points the writing is off, "well can you at least make it epic", made me chuckle but that's due to the internet. Anyway, see this or Ill run you over and yell about witnessing
- DirectorWes BallStarsOwen TeagueFreya AllanKevin DurandMany years after the reign of Caesar, a young ape goes on a journey that will lead him to question everything he's been taught about the past and make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.solidtohigh6/10, this series is finally getting the love it rightly deserves. It's the pinnacle of animation, it has really good storytelling, it has memorable characters: IT HAS TALKING MONKIES DAMNIT! While I didn't like the last one really, thought it was mid, the others are really good. Watching the progress is crazy. This is definitely better though admittedly a little slow at first. But it does pick up and when it does, it finally comes back to its roots.
