- DirectorMichael HanekeStarsNaomi WattsTim RothMichael PittTwo psychopathic young men take a family hostage in their cabin.Last movie of 2021/first of 2022!
- DirectorJoel CoenStarsDenzel WashingtonFrances McDormandAlex HassellA Scottish lord becomes convinced by a trio of witches that he will become the next King of Scotland, and his ambitious wife supports him in his plans of seizing power.Dozed through first half in theater but thoroughly impressed by second half. Need to rewatch.
- DirectorPaul FeigStarsKristen WiigMaya RudolphRose ByrneCompetition between the maid of honor and a bridesmaid, over who is the bride's best friend, threatens to upend the life of an out-of-work pastry chef.Classic
- DirectorBryan BertinoStarsScott SpeedmanLiv TylerGemma WardA young couple staying in an isolated vacation home are terrorized by three unknown assailants.Good plot, chaotic and unexpected in some points, but still leans on common tropes and shockers. Could have used a bit more depth but still enjoyable without. Solid acting. Fun, mindless thriller.
- DirectorJames WanStarsPatrick WilsonRose ByrneTy SimpkinsA family looks to prevent evil spirits from trapping their comatose child in a realm called The Further.A little goofy but definitely still a classic. I’ll have to pick up those sequels eventually
- DirectorRobert Ben GarantStarsKerri KenneyNiecy NashThomas LennonFollows the deputies of the Reno Sheriff's Department as they hunt for Q, the one behind all the QAnon conspiracies. Their efforts cause them to get stuck at a QAnon convention at sea.Pretty funny special for a show that’s been running nearly two decades. Goofy, topical, and has some blunt jokes, plus the cast is always fun to see together. The plot made no sense, but why should it?
- DirectorRuben FleischerStarsJesse EisenbergEmma StoneWoody HarrelsonA shy student trying to reach his family in Ohio, a gun-toting bruiser in search of the last Twinkie and a pair of sisters striving to get to an amusement park join forces in a trek across a zombie-filled America.Classic
- DirectorTim KirkbyStarsJohnny KnoxvilleEleanor Worthington-CoxChris PontiusA daredevil designs and operates his own theme park with his friends.Fun for a view or two, mostly for the stunts. Story is okay, same with acting. Johnny’s always a good time though.
- DirectorHerbert RossStarsSteve MartinRick MoranisJoan CusackAn all too uptight FBI agent must protect a larger than life mobster with a heart of gold, currently under witness protection in the suburbs.Very funny and very San Diego! Lighthearted and goofy, fun early ‘90s comedy. Steve and Rick are both great, plus a young Joan Cusack!
- DirectorM. Night ShyamalanStarsGael García BernalVicky KriepsRufus SewellA vacationing family discovers that the secluded beach where they're relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly, reducing their entire lives into a single day.6.5 - well acted and beautiful scenery. Cool cinematography. Hit the “enjoy the moment” message well, if not a little hard, but it was placed well. The explanation/twist felt a little underwhelming. Was hoping for a little more resolution with the meaning but the whole twist reasoning just came off a but half baked. Good movie, worth a once over, just like any M. Night movie.
- DirectorJames McTeigueStarsJohn CusackAlice EveLuke EvansWhen a madman begins committing horrific murders inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's works, a young Baltimore detective joins forces with Poe to stop him from making his stories a reality.Entertaining idea but lost my attention at parts. John was a little wild to be Poe but Alice Eve, as well as the rest of the cast, was great. Maybe if I rewatched closer, I’d rate higher, but I just kept coming in and out. (Dollar Store)
- DirectorJon WattsStarsTom HollandZendayaBenedict CumberbatchWith Spider-Man's identity now revealed, Peter asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.Saw it with Andrew! A finale for Tobey’s Spider-Man. What more do you need, besides to rewatch it because I was coming in and out for the first 45 minutes haha
- DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris HemsworthMark RuffaloThe Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.Incredibly long but interesting throughout. Not much really to say, it’s a Marvel movie. Well done.
- DirectorPeyton ReedStarsPaul RuddEvangeline LillyMichael PeñaAs Scott Lang balances being both a superhero and a father, Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym present an urgent new mission that finds the Ant-Man fighting alongside The Wasp to uncover secrets from their past.Fun and enjoyable. Michael Peña is hilarious and the main cast kill it. One of my more preferred series in the MCU, didn’t disappoint.
- DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris EvansMark RuffaloAfter the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers assemble once more in order to reverse Thanos' actions and restore balance to the universe.Solid conclusion to the 20-odd movies before it. That’s all I really have to say. On to Spider-Man and phase 4.
Oh, but it didn’t feel as long as the shorter Infinity Wars. - DirectorJon WattsStarsTom HollandSamuel L. JacksonJake GyllenhaalFollowing the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.I think I just really love the third phase of the MCU, because I’ve never enjoyed movie after movie like this. These Spider-Man movies are solid and while I’ll always love Tobey, Tom does a great job. Great wrap to the third phase. On to Wandavision.
- CreatorJac SchaefferStarsElizabeth OlsenPaul BettanyKathryn HahnBlends the style of classic sitcoms with the MCU, in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision - two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives - begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.Fantastic start to the next phase of the MCU. The structure was awesome and fun to keep track of. The stylistic changes episode to episode were impressive and authentic. The morals were as questionable as always. I think I’m hooked back into the MCU, and these shows are a good sign that I’m going to enjoy what’s coming.
- DirectorIstván BányaiOne day, an ever-growing man goes out for dinner in a posh restaurant. He devours everything around him, from the food on his plate to buildings, cities, and planets, ultimately eating the entire universe.Colorful and absurd, definitely a fun ride.
- DirectorJanicza BravoStarsInger TudorBrett GelmanJudy GreerA man watches his life unravel after he is left by his girlfriend of 10 years.Intriguing movie. Very uncomfortable and somewhat interesting the whole time. Takes a little while to kick in, honestly. Great performances though. Classic weird indie pacing. Worth a single go.
- DirectorBenny SafdieJosh SafdieStarsRobert PattinsonBenny SafdieJennifer Jason LeighAfter a botched bank robbery lands his younger brother in prison, Connie Nikas embarks on a twisted odyssey through New York City's underworld to get his brother Nick out of jail.
- In January 1969, The Beatles set out to write and record new songs for their first live show in more than two years, culminating in an impromptu concert atop their Savile Row studio.Watched episode 1
- DirectorRawson Marshall ThurberStarsJason SudeikisJennifer AnistonEmma RobertsA veteran pot dealer creates a fake family as part of his plan to move a huge shipment of weed into the U.S. from Mexico.
- DirectorDan GilroyStarsJake GyllenhaalRene RussoBill PaxtonWhen Louis Bloom, a con man desperate for work, muscles into the world of L.A. crime journalism, he blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story.
- DirectorCate ShortlandStarsScarlett JohanssonFlorence PughDavid HarbourNatasha Romanoff confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises.Fun and interesting step outside of the norm for Marvel. I really liked seeing Scarlett and Florence work together, as well as David Harbour. The whole cast was great and the storyline was Exciting. Definitely a fun movie, even if it clearly came a little late as seen by the time jump in the after credits scene.
- DirectorJaume Collet-SerraStarsVera FarmigaPeter SarsgaardIsabelle FuhrmanA husband and wife who recently lost their baby adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she appears.Surprisingly different story. Always love Vera. Fun movie to watch when cycling through horrors.
- DirectorIain SoftleyStarsKate HudsonPeter SarsgaardJoy BryantA hospice nurse working at a spooky New Orleans plantation home finds herself entangled in a mystery involving the house's dark past. What a twist! All the turnarounds made this a fun movie. Kind of Get Out vibes, in a way. Definitely worth a rewatch. Adding to the thriller/horror cycle, like Orphan.
- DirectorDavid AyerStarsJake GyllenhaalMichael PeñaAnna KendrickShot documentary-style, this film follows the daily grind of two young police officers in LA who are partners and friends and what happens when they meet criminal forces greater than themselves.I enjoyed this movie much more the second time, maybe just because I knew what I was walking into this time. I really enjoyed that found footage style being partially used, while switching to a more traditional action camera. Cast was great and the story was interesting. Definitely a little bit of copaganda but what movie isn’t doing something like that? At least the movie itself was worth it.
- DirectorJim GillespieStarsJennifer Love HewittSarah Michelle GellarAnne HecheFour young friends bound by a tragic accident are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town. What can I really say about this one, it’s a classic! Great cast, fun era, awesome ride.
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsMichael CeraMary Elizabeth WinsteadKieran CulkinIn a magically realistic version of Toronto, a young man must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil exes one by one in order to win her heart.Watched with the first cast commentary. Enjoyable but not a huge amount of information. Nice to hear the cast appreciate each other though. Jason is a funny dude.
- DirectorCoke DanielsStarsTaryn ManningCory HardrictJasmine BurkeKaren attempts to displace the new Black family that moved into the neighborhood, but they won't back down without a fight. While the main three actors do a great job and there are some creative ideas, overall, this movie is pretty weak. The script could’ve used an entire overhaul, with way too many on the nose moments. The cinematography and editing are poor. Worth checking out just to see what’s going on, but there’s no way this movie’s going to get a rewatch out of me. With a little more tact, this could’ve been a worthwhile movie.
- DirectorJohn CarpenterStarsRoddy PiperKeith DavidMeg FosterThey influence our decisions without us knowing it. They numb our senses without us feeling it. They control our lives without us realizing it. They live.Awesome movie. Ahead of its time. Social commentary that led to OBEY.
