Heavily clashed with several of his Fast & Furious co-stars, including Vin Diesel and Tyrese Gibson, referring to them as 'candy-asses', among other things.
Johnson was also disruptive behind the scenes of several DC Extended Universe productions, such as Black Adam (2022) and Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023).
As part of a larger power play to take control of the DCEU, Johnson reportedly went behind DC Films President Walter Hamada's back in order to secure a cameo in Black Adam from Henry Cavill as Superman. Johnson's intention was to put himself at the center of the DCEU, and have Black Adam and Superman face off in a future film.
While many were initially excited by Cavill's long-awaited return to the role, it was announced shortly afterwards that the DCEU was being rebooted, and Cavill would not be part of the rebooted universe, causing widespread outrage.
It was also reported that Johnson heavily interfered with the production of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, claims that were seemingly corroborated by Shazam star Zachary Levi.
Although the character of Black Adam was initially intended to be the villain in a future Shazam film, Johnson reportedly insisted that the character have his own solo film instead, and was reportedly adamant that their characters never shared the screen together, with Johnson considering Shazam beneath him, despite Shazam and Black Adam being arch-enemies in the comics the films were based on.
Johnson also axed the film's original post-credits scene, which featured the Justice Society of America, refusing to allow any characters from Black Adam to appear in the film.
