Andy Kaufman
Was known for his outrageous personality, often finding humor in provoking and antagonizing people.
Most notably, he was often disruptive on the set of Taxi (1978). Kaufman insisted that, as part of his contract for the show, his alter-ego, Tony Clifton, would be hired to perform as a guest star in several episodes, as if he were a real, separate person from Kaufman.
His first day on-set as Clifton, Kaufman was extremely belligerent and brought prostitutes with him to the set, enraging co-stars Judd Hirsch and Danny DeVito. 'Clifton' was not only fired shortly afterwards, but was thrown off the set after making a massive spectacle of himself in front of the cast, crew, network executives, and reporters who Kaufman had told to come to the set to watch.
Afterwards, Kaufman showed back up to set as himself and acted as though nothing had happened.
