The score was also absolutely astounding.
- DirectorPhilip KaufmanStarsDonald SutherlandBrooke AdamsJeff GoldblumWhen strange seeds drift to earth from space, mysterious pods begin to grow and invade San Francisco, replicating the city's residents one body at a time. This remake of the '50s classic makes my list because of the superb ending. The rest of the film was exceptional as well. Of course!
- DirectorStanley KubrickStarsKeir DulleaGary LockwoodWilliam SylvesterAfter uncovering a mysterious artifact buried beneath the Lunar surface, a spacecraft is sent to Jupiter to find its origins: a spacecraft manned by two men and the supercomputer HAL 9000.An absolute Tour-de-force by Kubrick which set the standard by which all Sci Fi movies are judged. Another film way ahead of its time. A bonkers storyline which still puzzles me to this day but visually awesome.
- DirectorGeorge LucasStarsMark HamillHarrison FordCarrie FisherLuke Skywalker joins forces with a Jedi Knight, a cocky pilot, a Wookiee and two droids to save the galaxy from the Empire's world-destroying battle station, while also attempting to rescue Princess Leia from the mysterious Darth Vader.Created a universe in which to immerse yourself. The soundtrack when I saw it in the cinema almost blew me off my seat. So loud I still think my hearing has never recovered. But it just added to the awe I felt!
- DirectorRidley ScottStarsSigourney WeaverTom SkerrittJohn HurtThe crew of a commercial spacecraft encounters a deadly lifeform after investigating a mysterious transmission of unknown origin. The greatest Sci fi horror movie of all time. Claustrophobic in the extreme. Great ensemble cast created with Ridley Scott a film that will last forever.
- DirectorJames CameronStarsSigourney WeaverMichael BiehnCarrie HennDecades after surviving the Nostromo incident, Ellen Ripley is sent out to re-establish contact with a terraforming colony but finds herself battling the Alien Queen and her offspring.A completely different film to Alien but also had tension that you could cut with a knife and action from start to finish. Another hit for James Cameron.
- DirectorJames CameronStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerLinda HamiltonMichael BiehnA human soldier is sent from 2029 to 1984 to stop an almost indestructible cyborg killing machine, sent from the same year, which has been programmed to execute a young woman whose unborn son is the key to humanity's future salvation.James Cameron made a star out of wooden actor that had a strong Austrian accent. He cast Arnold Schwarzenegger as a robot! No matter how hard I try to hate him in the film, I have to admit he was brilliant in the role. Masterstroke by Cameron.

- DirectorJosef RusnakStarsCraig BierkoGretchen MolArmin Mueller-StahlA computer scientist running a virtual reality simulation of 1937 becomes the primary suspect when his colleague and mentor is murdered.Worlds within worlds within worlds. Where does it all end? Another hidden gem of a film.

I'm almost ashamed to admit that I watched this film almost continuously for about a week while "revising" for an exam. The amazing thing is that I still managed to pass the exam!
