R.I.P.: Top TV Character Deaths of 20143 of 10
Best Series Ending Death: Nucky Thompson, played by Steve Buscemi.
Living a gangster's life means accepting the high likelihood of dying a gangster's death, so it's not surprising that all of Nucky Thompson's chickens came home to roost by the series finale. The bootleg empire he built was stripped away from him, his gangland ties were destroyed and just as he was about to go on the run, the last free member of the Darmody clan, the family to which he was once very close, revealed himself and plugged Nucky in the chest. Then again, if that hadn't happened, the IRS would have snagged him anyway. Better to be snuffed out than rot away in prison, one supposes.
Runner Up: "True Blood's" Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), staked to death by Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) as a mercy killing; "Sons of Anarchy's" Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam), steered his motorcycle into a truck driven by Vic Mackey.
