R.I.P.: Top TV Character Deaths of 20141 of 10
Best Voluntary-Albeit-Horizontal Departure from a Series: "The Good Wife's" Will Gardner, played by Josh Charles.
Charles decided he wanted to move on with his career at the end of season four, and the writers used his impending departure as a way to launch one of the drama's key storylines into a completely different direction during season 5. First, his character Will's heart is broken yet again by the workplace betrayal of friend and former lover Alicia Florrick. Then he descends into a maelstrom of vindictive behavior towards her, seeking to cut her down at every turn.
Before they can truly resolve their differences, Will was suddenly cut down by a bullet while he was in court... leaving behind little beyond a banal voicemail message for Alicia as his last words.
Runner Up: "Community's" Pierce Hawthorne (Chevy Chase), who died of dehydration while filling up cylinders of sperm to bequeath to his classmates and friends. We wish we were joking.
