R.I.P.: Top TV Character Deaths of 20145 of 10
The "If You Gotta Go, Go Out Hard" Award: King Horik, played by Donal Logue.
Though comparatively kinder than public execution by vivisection (a reference to the "Blood Eagle" episode), being slashed and beaten by all of your adversary's closest friends and family members, before being gutted and having him beat your face in with his forehead as he howls with rage, is fairly hardcore. This was the fate of traitorous King Horik, a man who spent months appearing to forge an alliance with Earl Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) while secretly scheming behind his back to take his lands and wipe out his family.
But Ragnar was a few steps ahead, and in the end, it was Horik who has dethroned after a failed coup that, among other tragedies, forced his daughters to kill their own brothers and saw his queen defeated in single combat by Ragnar's ex-wife Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick).
Runners Up: "Arrow's" Moira Queen (Susanna Thompson), impaled by a sword wielded by her son's enemy Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett); "House of Cards's" Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara), tossed in front of a subway train by Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey); "The Walking Dead's" Beth Greene (Emily Kinney), shot in the head after trying to kill the megalomaniacal cop holding her prisoner by stabbing her with a teeny tiny pair of scissors.
