- DirectorRon ClementsJohn MuskerDon HallStarsAuli'i CravalhoDwayne JohnsonRachel HouseIn ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse incurred by the demigod Maui reaches Moana's island, she answers the Ocean's call to seek out Maui to set things right.I don't have one single problem with this movie. It is classic Disney, like the classics from the Disney Renaissance. The songs are really good, the characters are great, and the visuals are spectacular!
- DirectorDamien ChazelleStarsRyan GoslingEmma StoneRosemarie DeWittWhile navigating their careers in Los Angeles, a pianist and an actress fall in love while attempting to reconcile their aspirations for the future.I've heard some backlash from some, people who want to get over critical due to the movie's massive success. Some say it's nothing but an excuse for Hollywood to glorify themselves with much narcissism. Those people completely misunderstood the whole point of this movie. This is a raw portrayal of Hollywood, and the challenge one has to achieve success.
- DirectorTravis KnightStarsCharlize TheronArt ParkinsonMatthew McConaugheyA young boy named Kubo must locate a magical suit of armour worn by his late father in order to defeat a vengeful spirit from the past.Sadly overlooked, with poor box office results, Kubo and the Two Strings is one of the last movies of 2016 that I wanted to see flop. Those who did see it, however are likely to agree with me that it was visually amazing, incredibly well animated and full of great characters!
- DirectorByron HowardRich MooreJared BushStarsGinnifer GoodwinJason BatemanIdris ElbaIn a city of anthropomorphic animals, a rookie bunny cop and a cynical con artist fox must work together to uncover a conspiracy.Zootopia is fun, charming and very mature. It took me a while to really appreciate the message they were putting across. It was a very touchy subject that Disney handled very well!
- DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsChris EvansRobert Downey Jr.Scarlett JohanssonPolitical involvement in the Avengers' affairs causes a rift between Captain America and Iron Man.By far the best superhero movie of 2016, Captain America: Civil War is an action packed thrill ride, with some considerably mature depth!
- DirectorShane BlackStarsRussell CroweRyan GoslingAngourie RiceIn 1970s Los Angeles, a mismatched pair of private eyes investigate a missing girl and the mysterious death of a porn star. The Nice Guys is a good old fashioned, action-packed thrill ride, full of edge of your seat action, and a good dose of humour to keep balance!
- DirectorAlessandro CarloniJennifer Yuh NelsonStarsJack BlackBryan CranstonDustin HoffmanContinuing his "legendary adventures of awesomeness", Po must face two hugely epic, but different threats: one supernatural and the other a little closer to home.Kung Fu Panda 3 is easily as great as the previous movies in the series. It's very funny, but never fails to show the right amount of emphasis on the more serious and emotional scenes as well. Kung Fu Panda 3 is living proof that the 2nd sequel isn't always the worst!
- DirectorGareth EdwardsStarsFelicity JonesDiego LunaAlan TudykIn a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction.Rogue One helps expand the ever growing Star Wars franchise, with amazing action sequences, great visuals, and answers a very big plothole from A New Hope!
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsEva GreenAsa ButterfieldSamuel L. JacksonWhen Jacob (Asa Butterfield) discovers clues to a mystery that stretches across time, he finds Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. But the danger deepens after he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers.A return to form for Tim Burton, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is as visually stunning as it is good!
- DirectorBryan SingerStarsJames McAvoyMichael FassbenderJennifer LawrenceIn the 1980s the X-Men must defeat an ancient all-powerful mutant, En Sabah Nur, who intends to thrive through bringing destruction to the world. One of the weaker X Men movies, but a blast overall. There isn't a particularly interesting villain in Apocalypse, and the first 20 minutes isn't anything spectacular, but the movie just got better and better as it went on!
