Documentaries YOU MUST SEE
As eyes are the windows to our soul, great documentaries are the windows to truth and awareness. Great documentaries bring knowledge, and knowledge truly is power.. Some documentaries will be fun to watch, you'll learn something new in a fun and amazing way. Some will make you angry, maybe bitter to where you say 'ignorance truly is bliss', but you need to know what's going on as they bring you knowledge, and have you question life on all levels which will open your eyes and bring you into a consciousness in which you want to get involved with the fight i.e. petition, write your local congressman, start a blog, start a website, join a group, donate your time or if nothing else, donate money to the cause. Documentaries bring awareness and they will enlighten a person in a good way as well as make a person upset and hopefully motivate us to fight the good fight and drive us to be just and good. Documentaries will make us want to fight the tyranny of evil that is out there everyday. Documentaries are where change starts. Help the fight in some way and let it make you a better person. Because it will.

- DirectorPeople of IraqMartin KunertStarsPeople of Iraq150 digital videos are distributed to everyday Iraqis, who are encouraged to record their feelings about their lives. They are also encouraged to pass the cameras along to get as many Iraqis across the country to participate in this project as possible. The cameras are in circulation from April to September 2004, shortly after the American bombing of Fallujah and the fall of the dictatorial regime of Saddam Hussein; the resulting footage was compiled to become this film. Most of the subjects talk about issues around Hussein versus the Americans, and whether their lives and of Iraqis in general are better off now or then, their thoughts about democracy in general and how it applies to Iraq, and what they want to see for their future. A few also steer clear of politics altogether, wanting to focus on happier things. As the cameras move around the country, regional differences emerge, such as the Kurds of the north, who were persecuted by Hussein, having a unique perspective. Differences also emerge based on individual exposure to Hussein and/or his associates, or to what recently occurred in Fallujah. This digital camera footage is interspersed with other videos, including propaganda video by jihadis, and found unofficial videos recorded by Hussein's regime documenting their actions while in power, and with western media headlines about the Iraqi situation which has largely shaped the western view of life in Iraq.

- DirectorJeff TurnerSue TurnerStarsJeff TurnerFrom PBS - For thousands of years, wolves hunted buffalo across the vast North American plains until the westward settlement of the continent saw the virtual extinction of these vast herds and their eternal predators, the wolves. However, this ancient relationship was not lost altogether, and continues uninterrupted in just one location - on the northern edge of the continent's central plains in a place called Wood Buffalo National Park. Today the descendants of those ancient buffalo and wolves still engage in epic life and death dramas across this northern land, as packs of wolves up to 30 strong hunt the largest land mammals on the continent. By getting to know the individual wolves in a specific pack, and following them as they hunt, we will get a sense of how these two animal species coexist in what seems like a forgotten corner of the world.

- DirectorMike BirkheadStarsDavid AttenboroughOf all the birds he's filmed over the years, David Attenborough finds these big birds the most comical. They are the Flintstones of the bird world - a group whose lineage can be traced back to when dinosaurs walked the earth. The ostrich, the emu, and the rhea - together with the kiwi and the cassowary - are essentially the court jesters of the avian world, because they can't do the one thing that birds are famous for doing. They can't fly. But exactly how - and why - did these birds abandon flight? It's been one of the natural world's great mysteries. And now DNA is promising to give us the answer. Among their number is the fastest bird on land, whose chicks hatch ready to run. One has dagger-sharp talons; another, killer thighs. One is a bird that is heard, but seldom seen, and only in the pitch black dead of night, does it call. So you could say these groups of birds are real oddballs. But they're a family with a remarkable success story...despite having never flown a day in their lives.

Some gather to breed or to migrate, some for protection, some simply to keep warm in the cold.
