Ryan Johnson is an Australian actor who has been seen in over over 200 hours of film and television, over past two decades. He graduated from QUT with a BA in acting in 1999 but landed a main role in his first feature film 'City Loop' whilst in his second year of study. He went on to tour with the Sydney Theatre Company, in Martin McDonagh's The Beauty Queen of Leenane, to critical acclaim and soon after landed one of the lead roles in the ABC show 'Headstart'. Building on his growing profile, the features 'Thunderstruck', 'The Wannabes' and a regular role on the series 'The Secret Life of Us', placed Ryan firmly on the Australian film and television map. His first international break came when he was cast in the Australian/U.K. collaboration 'Dossa and Joe', written and directed by Caroline Ahern, for BBC1. Ryan has consistently returned to theatre, working with Belvoir St Theatre, The Sydney Theatre Company and for independent companies, including performing at the prestigious Pleasance Dome Theatre for the Edinburgh Festival. In 2011, Ryan was cast in the USA networks 'Fairly Legal' opposite Sarah Shahi, as series regular Ben Grogan. At home, he went on to work in major television such as the TV movie 'Carlotta' (ABC) where he played the romantic lead and recurring roles in House Husbands (Ch9), Love Child (Ch9) and the mini series 'INXS: Never Tear us apart (Ch7). More recently, Ryan is best known for his five season run as Matt Knight, on Channel Nine's ratings blockbuster 'Doctor Doctor'. Since it's finale in 2020, Ryan showcased his comedic craft, as part of the main ensemble in the box office hit film 'How To Please a Woman', recur on STAN's breakout dramedy Bump and will soon be seen making a chilling pivot in the the Channel 7 limited event 'The Claremont Murders' as one of the most notorious crime figures in Australian history. Ryan is best described as a character actor with leading man looks, who has gained a reputation as an artist that can cross effortlessly from stage to screen and comedy to drama. Now in his forties, his incredible body of work is only leading to the next chapter. Ryan plans to continue to stretch himself in roles that work against expectation and collaborate with creatives that inspire and challenge him. Joel Edgerton was born on June 23, 1974 in Blacktown, New South Wales, Australia, to Marianne (van Dort) and Michael Edgerton, who is a solicitor and property developer. His brother is filmmaker Nash Edgerton. His mother is a Dutch immigrant. Joel went to Hills Grammar School in the Western Suburbs of Sydney, and after leaving, he attended Nepean Drama School in 1994. Joel has done many projects on stage and off, but most people will recognize him from his work on the Australian television series The Secret Life of Us (2001), in which he played William McGill. This gave him his first big break through in the television industry. For this role, he was nominated in 2001 for an AFI Award. As well as "The Secret Life of Us", he has also appeared in other television projects such as The Three Stooges (2000), Dossa and Joe (2002), Secret Men's Business (1999), Never Tell Me Never (1998) and Saturn's Return (2001). Joel has done a lot of work on the theatrical stage having played King Henry in "Henry V", Prince Hal in "Henry III", and others including "Road", "Third World Blues" and "Dead White Males". As well as acting, he has also starred, co-written and produced the short movie Bloodlock (1998).
His first international break came from when he played Uncle Owen Lars in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002). Don has worked extensively in Australian television since the late 90's. His American television credits include Childhood's End, the ABC pilot Warriors and he has just completed shooting NBC's medical drama Heartbeat. His latest Australian works include Devil's Playground, The Broken Shore, Serangoon Road, Jack Irish: Black Tide and Rake.
Don recently concluding shooting the Australian feature Ali's Wedding. Some of Don's film credits include Healing and Lucky Miles which won the audience award at the 2007 Sydney Film Festival. Rodger Corser is well known to Australian audiences having worked extensively in television, theatre, and film. Over recent years Rodger has been nominated for six Silver and three Gold TV WEEK Logie awards for his portrayal of Dr Hugh Knight in the Nine Network's DOCTOR DOCTOR, which ran for five seasons
Rodger's earlier television productions include his portrayal of Detective Steve Owen in the Nine Network's smash hit first season of UNDERBELLY, and the lead role of Lawson Blake in the popular Network Ten John Edwards' series RUSH which ran for four successful seasons between 2008 and 2011. During this time Rodger also starred alongside Claudia Karvan in two series of Foxtel's SPIRITED. Rodger has appeared on our television screens in two popular murder mystery series, MISS FISHERS MURDER MYSTERIES and THE DOCTOR BLAKE MYSTERIES. HBO's mega-hit True Blood created by Academy Award winner Alan Ball set the stage for Ryan's talent. For seven seasons he portrayed the fan favorite Jason Stackhouse. Most recently in the film world, Ryan has been discretionary yet fruitful with his choices of project. Working for a second time with visionary Australian director Ivan Sen on his latest film Expired. Ivan's work is critically claimed and has been presented at Festival De Cannes. Ryan played the lead role in Expired and was wonderfully supported by Hugo Weaving and Jillian Nguyen. Ryan then starred in Seth Larney's sci-fi thriller 2067 along side Academy Award Nominee Kodi Smit-McPhee.
Kwanten has a slew of films slated to premiere in the coming months. The first is Glorious. Produced by Ryan and Directed by Rebekah McKendry, Rebekah brings Lovecraftian horror to a place it has never been seen before: a rest stop men's room. Kwanten teams up for this incredible two-hander with Academy Award Winner J.K. Simmons. Section 8 sees Ryan headline an all-star action cast including Dermot Mulroney, Scott Adkins, Dolph Lungren, and Mickey Rourke.
On the television side of things, Ryan starred in the Amazon Prime original series, Them, from powerhouse Lena Waithe. British actor Eddie Redmayne won the Academy Award for Best Actor (for The Theory of Everything (2014)).
Edward John David Redmayne was born and raised in London, England, the son of Patricia (Burke) and Richard Charles Tunstall Redmayne, a businessman. His great-grandfather was Sir Richard Augustine Studdert Redmayne, a noted civil and mining engineer. He has English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh ancestry. Redmayne is the only member of his family to follow a career in acting, and also modeled during his teen years. He was educated at Eton College before going on to Trinity College, Cambridge, where he studied History of Art. Encouraged by his parents, Redmayne took drama lessons from a young age. His first stage appearance was in the Sam Mendes production of "Oliver!", in London's West End. He played a workhouse boy. Acting continued through school and university, including performing with the National Youth Music Theatre.
Redmayne's first professional stage performance came in 2002 at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre where he played Viola in "Twelfth Night". In 2004, he won the prestigious Evening Standard Outstanding Newcomer Award for his working in Edward Albee's play "The Goat". Further stage successes followed, and in 2009, he starred in John Logan's "Red" at the Donmar Warehouse in London. He won huge critical acclaim for his role, winning an Oliver Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. The play transferred to Broadway in 2010, and Redmayne went on to win a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play.
Alongside his stage career, Redmayne has worked steadily in television and film. He co-starred as Marius Pontmercy in the musical Les Misérables (2012). He played scientist Stephen Hawking in the biographical drama The Theory of Everything (2014), opposite Felicity Jones, as Stephen's wife Jane Hawking. For his performance, Redmayne won multiple awards, including the Academy Award for Best Actor. As such, he became the first man born in the 1980s to win an acting Oscar. He received further critical acclaim for his portrayal of Lili Elbe, one of the first known recipients of sex reassignment surgery, in The Danish Girl (2015). For his performance, he was nominated for multiple awards, including the Academy Award for Best Actor.
In 2014, Redmayne married publicist Hannah Bagshawe.
