The Val Verde Universe!
The whole universe connected with citing as the reasoning behind it all: Mostly thanks to Val Verde! Commando, Speed, Die Hard, Blade Runner, Alien & Predator are in the same overall universe. Terminator & Robocop are connected loosely thry games and comics.

Species II had an earlier script mentioning the Alien origin planet but since both Chris Brancato came at the finished script in a campy way and even designer HR Giger claimed his Species designs were derivative of his Alien saga creations, it’s doubtful that there’s any attempted canon.
Elements of Alien 3 were noted as inspiring both the first Species and Pitch Black but again no connection, despite the first and third Riddick films having similar creatures and contributions by the Wheat brothers, as there was no loose or direct establishing link between either franchise.
Also, despite the 24 TV show saga originally trying to crossover with Die Hard, if not tip its hat, there’s no correlation between either at this time.
The 1998 film Soldier references some Star Trek II planets but that’s likely as a joke or homage given how unoriginal Paul WS Anderson is.
A Season 14 episode of NCIS has a part of Paraguay naned Val Verde but that was likely meant as an inside joke given how that was also the name for the L.A. filming location. I highly doubt it’s part of the same universe as while this show is a spin-off of JAG, it has referenced various movies (including Die Hard) for pop culture related jokes.
I was also fortunate enough to interview author James Swallow who noted how he worked in the airport from Die Hard 2 into his recent Splinter Cell novels.
