NOTE: Some (many) of the series/shows I listed here you can read that I really liked them to a certain point (not in its integrity) and that may be in my own personal opinions but that still I added them here because I consider they have any of these strong suits: Character/Environment Design, Narrative/Dialogue quality, Character development/backstory, etc.

- CreatorMatt DufferRoss DufferStarsMillie Bobby BrownFinn WolfhardWinona RyderWhen a young boy vanishes, a small town uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one strange little girl.First season is the perfect mystery horror miniseries. The seasons after that are fun 80s flashback nostalgia filled with references and great story moments with the most important highlight of the show: The Characters. They subvert the tropes and provide new, heartfealt and endearing moments for what could be a straight up nostalgia trip.
- CreatorGreg DanielsMichael SchurStarsAmy PoehlerJim O'HeirNick OffermanThe absurd antics of an Indiana town's public officials as they pursue sundry projects to make their city a better place.Amazing show from start to end. It might have stumbled a bit along the way and it might start a bit slow, but you'll know when it starts to pick up the pace and it's all due to certain character developments. And again, the biggest highlight of the show is the characters.
- CreatorCarter BaysCraig ThomasStarsJosh RadnorJason SegelCobie SmuldersA father recounts to his children - through a series of flashbacks - the journey he and his four best friends took leading up to him meeting their mother.Best show to teach life choices and styles, hopeful atittude and the desire to have a group of friends like this to take over the world. Basically perfect until the last 5 minutes of the finale and including this finale. It was undeserved and good proof to how you shouldn't listen to the fans or plan the ending later or accordingly, idiots! (See the alternate ending, the one that should have been, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoHUs8J7x94&t=5s)
- CreatorMark GatissSteven MoffatStarsBenedict CumberbatchMartin FreemanUna StubbsThe quirky spin on Conan Doyle's iconic sleuth pitches him as a "high-functioning sociopath" in modern-day London. Assisting him in his investigations: Afghanistan War vet John Watson, who's introduced to Holmes by a mutual acquaintance.Smart, inventive, witty and really complex. Great characters and dynamics. Basically a perfect format for this kind of shows. The best proof of how less is better, less number of episodes lead to better quality of episodes up to a point of even being movie-level production
- CreatorGreg DanielsRicky GervaisStephen MerchantStarsSteve CarellJenna FischerJohn KrasinskiA mockumentary on a group of typical office workers, where the workday consists of ego clashes, inappropriate behavior, tedium and romance.Have a review of the show. It makes you not only feel for the characters but for yourself too. A greatly realised ensemble in an otherwise outstanding plot that shines for how simple it really is but how fully loaded it is where it counts. It stumbles in the last seasons as so does every good show, it runs a bit out of steam but it's worth staying for the characters that do stay. Also, it might be hard to get used to the awkward humor but it grows on you thanks to the characters. Great finale.
- CreatorDrew GoddardStarsCharlie CoxVincent D'OnofrioDeborah Ann WollA blind lawyer by day, vigilante by night. Matt Murdock fights the crime of New York as Daredevil.
- CreatorDavid BenioffD.B. WeissStarsEmilia ClarkePeter DinklageKit HaringtonNine noble families fight for control over the lands of Westeros, while an ancient enemy returns after being dormant for millennia.
- CreatorAndrew W. MarloweStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanWhen a psychopath commits murders based on novelist Castle's books, Detective Beckett seeks his help to solve the case. He decides to work with her and uses his experiences as research for his novels. But only the first 5/6 seasons, after that it gets directionless and kind of cheesy and repetitive
- CreatorMark BrazillBonnie TurnerTerry TurnerStarsTopher GraceLaura PreponMila KunisA comedy revolving around a group of teenage friends, their mishaps, and their coming of age, set in 1970s Wisconsin.Witty, quirky and endearing above all. Best group of friends, best kids' parents, best topics to cover in a 70s-themed show. It's amazing all through, stumbles in the middle-end like all show but it never sacrifices its characters and mistakes are fixed with more or less finality and smoothness. Either way, those mistakes aren't big enought to ruin the show.
- CreatorDan GoorMichael SchurStarsAndy SambergStephanie BeatrizTerry CrewsComedy series following the exploits of Det. Jake Peralta and his diverse, lovable colleagues as they police the NYPD's 99th Precinct.A laugh-tracking humorous show with unrealistic plots but entertaining characters, sublots and gags that never grow old. The show doesn't take itself seriously and once that's out of the way it's a highway feeling good vibes and comedy.
- CreatorDan HarmonStarsJoel McHaleDanny PudiDonald GloverA suspended lawyer is forced to enroll in a community college with an eccentric staff and student body. From season 1 to 4 (4 being almost in the line) are a spectacle of awkard, fun, acknowledged humor that just brings the series to a whole new level. It was smart, inventive and groundbreaking in some aspects (especially on the aesthetic-changes in some episodes including the Dungeons and Dragons and Paintball episodes). The creator was kicked out on season 4 and you can feel it in the quality of the show, he eventually came back but with all the studios kicking the show out it couldn't survive. The finale is satisfying, it isn't disappointing but it wasn't risky. Instead of making hard decisions to settle or giving finality to the show it just ended with the hopes that it received the movie treatment or a 7th season. Which it never will so it was just left a little cliff-hangey
- CreatorPaul FeigStarsLinda CardelliniJohn Francis DaleyJames FrancoA high school mathlete starts hanging out with a group of burnouts while her younger brother navigates his freshman year.Another great cancelled series that could never be finished it or given a proper ending like they did with Joss Whedon's Firefly. It shined for its stereotype-subverting endearing characters in a well-known setting that is high school. Clique-breaking and character development in the foreground. It's fresh, unique and fun to watch!
- CreatorJoss WhedonStarsNathan FillionGina TorresAlan TudykFive hundred years in the future, a renegade crew aboard a small spacecraft tries to survive as they travel the unknown parts of the galaxy and evade warring factions as well as authority agents out to get them.Probably the biggest show to ever get cancelled after one season. With creative and well-realised characters, a unique setting and backstory that provide room to discover and expand both of them. The finale of the series received a more or less conclusion in the 2005 movie Serenity.
- CreatorGreg BerlantiGeoff JohnsAndrew KreisbergStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerAfter being struck by lightning, Barry Allen wakes up from his coma to discover he's been given the power of super speed, becoming the Flash, and fighting crime in Central City. The first seasons are amazing and improve gradually as we get to know and care more about the characters. It hits a slippery slope in the middle falling into repetitiveness and dullness but picks up a bit with the inclusion of a new character, nevertheless, it doesn't save it from being too much of a good thing. The gum is stretching for too long in this one.
- CreatorMichael HirstStarsKatheryn WinnickGustaf SkarsgårdAlexander LudwigVikings transports us to the brutal and mysterious world of Ragnar Lothbrok, a Viking warrior and farmer who yearns to explore--and raid--the distant shores across the ocean.Amazing, realistic and historically interesting view at well-research Viking culture. What drives the show and is the main highlight are the main characters above all. Bold decisions are made through out the show that made it look similar to another well-known show to pull those twists. Like icarus, it flew to close to the sun and one single decision derailed the whole show. An unfortunate decision that would have been fine if the show would end with it but it didn't so here we are.
- CreatorSteven LevitanChristopher LloydStarsEd O'NeillSofía VergaraJulie BowenThree different, but related, families face trials and tribulations in their own uniquely comedic ways.Funny, witty and really varied cast of characters. Too much of a good thing in some cases and by now, like Big Bang Theory, it should have ended way sooner and with a great goodbye to put icing in the cake
- CreatorLisa JoyJonathan NolanStarsEvan Rachel WoodJeffrey WrightEd HarrisAt the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, waits a world in which every human appetite can be indulged without consequence.
- StarsChris O'DowdRichard AyoadeKatherine ParkinsonThe comedic misadventures of Roy, Moss and their grifting supervisor Jen, a rag-tag team of IT support workers at a large corporation headed by a hotheaded yuppie.
- CreatorFrank DarabontStarsAndrew LincolnNorman ReedusMelissa McBrideSheriff Deputy Rick Grimes wakes up from a coma to learn the world is in ruins and must lead a group of survivors to stay alive.First and Second seasons might be the best opening and world-setting of a zombie outbreak ever witnessed in movie and TV Show history. The harsh life of a recent post-apocalyptic world produce the well-realised and tough characters that we follow as they try to survive. Unfortunately, the show DIES and not literally around season 5 with a few decisions that impact the rest of the show and most importantly, its outcome and finale. Nothing to do with character deaths for once, but rather the future of "the point" of the TV show. If it's not willing to answer questions of its existence, why exist at all?
- CreatorAlfred GoughMiles MillarStarsTom WellingMichael RosenbaumAllison MackA young Clark Kent struggles to find his place in the world as he learns to harness his alien powers for good and deals with the typical troubles of teenage life in Smallville, Kansas.Very interesting view at such an acclaimed comic book icon. A study on the human part of the alien that came from outer space. The characters are witty and fun to watch react to the reality that there are aliens out there as well as for a human-raised alien to be raised in truth and justice who started as a high school misfit but became the Man of Tomorrow. WHile the whole show is a 2000s cheesy nostalgia-filled parade of high school tropes and subplots it's a well deserved one as it fits that present in comic books. Some decisions draw back the show and the finale is disappointing only for a specific missing detail to make it entirely more satisfying. Hard to rewatch as it is long and therefore dull and repetitive at times but has a heartwarming and endearing revisiting potential
- CreatorLauren Schmidt HissrichStarsFreya AllanHenry CavillAnya ChalotraGeralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.Strong start. In an era of so-so Netflix's original shows which none seem to reach the quality that of Stranger Things and Daredevil, the Witcher arrived with a great story, interesting character, an impressive and unconventional plot presentation and a thrilling setting that becomes a page turner for anyone who wants to know what happens after. Witty and funny when needed, dark and grotesque when required it has everything I'd expect from a mideval dark fantasy show: engaging characters, interesting world, AMAZING soundtrack and enough magic as icing to an already well-baked cake.
- CreatorDavid ShoreStarsHugh LaurieOmar EppsRobert Sean LeonardUsing a crack team of doctors and his wits, an antisocial maverick doctor specializing in diagnostic medicine does whatever it takes to solve puzzling cases that come his way.It is deep, at times disturbing and dark but its main characters are entertaining, some episodes are simply amazing and inventive and make you think. The selfishness and eccentrism of the main character may be too much in some episodes, especially in the end, but the show is well-crafted and intense. It tries to teach and make you feel and it does so really well. Very low probabilities of rewatchability except when the messages of it are needed
