- DirectorBarry LevinsonStarsRobin WilliamsForest WhitakerTom T. TranIn 1965, an unorthodox and irreverent DJ named Adrian Cronauer begins to shake up things when he is assigned to the U.S. Armed Services radio station in Vietnam.Williams is his typically subliminal self in this movie that grabs you right into the plot and doesn't let you go too easily. For me this marked the transition for him from doing the Mork and Mindy type acting to his now very professional and polished style - he is a very acomplished actor in my book!
Well worth watching and explores the ties between people and how we define friendship and regard for people. Also not to judge just on first impressions! - DirectorPeter WeirStarsRobin WilliamsRobert Sean LeonardEthan HawkeMaverick teacher John Keating returns in 1959 to the prestigious New England boys' boarding school where he was once a star student, using poetry to embolden his pupils to new heights of self-expression.
- DirectorJulian JarroldStarsChiwetel EjioforJoel EdgertonSarah-Jane PottsA drag queen comes to the rescue of a man who, after inheriting his father's shoe factory, needs to diversify his product if he wants to keep the business afloat.
- DirectorRoger MichellStarsHugh GrantJulia RobertsRichard McCabeA set of circumstances makes Anna Scott, a famous actress, fall in love with William Thacker, owner of a bookstore in Notting Hill. But the paparazzi's fascination with her complicates their bond.An Excellent Romantic Comady well worth the watch! This seemed to be the model set for later movies and is a bit of a benchmark for this genre of movie now... see 'Imagine Me and You' which was a gay version of this movie...
- DirectorJohn Cameron MitchellStarsSook-Yin LeePeter SticklesPJ DeBoyA group of New Yorkers caught up in their romantic-sexual milieu converge at an underground salon infamous for its blend of art, music, politics, and carnality.
- DirectorStephen DaldryStarsMeryl StreepNicole KidmanJulianne MooreThe story of how the novel "Mrs. Dalloway" affects three generations of women, all of whom, in one way or another, have had to deal with suicide in their lives. One of those movies that you come away from wondering if it was a good idea or not seeing it as it was so depressing! So don't go expecting to have your feelings lifted by this one! However, Nicole Kidman does her usual excellent standard of acting and pulls an excellent movie off here (as do the other key characters in this movie).
Well worth watching although I'd not put it into the 'Must See' legue personally. - DirectorJohn CurranStarsNaomi WattsEdward NortonLiev SchreiberDr Walter gets married to the beautiful Kitty but soon finds out that she is cheating on him. Battling his way through problems, he heads to China to fight a dreaded disease spread in a small village.
- CreatorJ. Michael StraczynskiStarsMira FurlanRichard BiggsStephen FurstIn the mid 23rd century, the Earth Alliance space station Babylon 5, located in neutral territory, is a major focal point for political intrigue, racial tensions and various wars over the course of five years.
- DirectorMatthew VaughnStarsCharlie CoxClaire DanesSienna MillerIn a countryside town bordering on a magical land, a young man makes a promise to his beloved that he'll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm.
- DirectorZach HelmStarsNatalie PortmanDustin HoffmanJason BatemanThe young apprentice of a magical, eccentric toy store owner learns to believe in herself, and in her friends, upon learning some grave news about the future.Beautiful and Piognant this movie touches the value of life and its gives it meaning. Well worth a watch!
- DirectorRichard SchenkmanStarsDavid Lee SmithTony ToddJohn BillingsleyAn impromptu goodbye party for Professor John Oldman becomes a mysterious interrogation after the retiring scholar reveals to his colleagues he has a longer and stranger past than they can imagine. This movie was presumably written as a radio script to start with. At least thats the way it comes across in the movie. The whole plot takes place sitting in a living room... debating this story.
The script though is exactly what carries this movie! The acting as 'dubious' as is everything else about this movie but the script does make you think about things and try to take a bigger picture view of human history and human nature...
I liked the plot a lot as I have an interest in the spiritual needs of people and how this affects religions but my partner hated it so clearly this is one that either appeals to you or it doesn't...
Overall, worth seeing if only for some of the theology and ideas put across in the plot.
DATE: 2008-03-01 - DirectorLucía PuenzoStarsRicardo DarínValeria BertuccelliGermán PalaciosThe story of an intersex fifteen-year-old. She lives with her parents, who have to cope with the challenges of her medical condition. An interesting movie that explores the issue of intersex identity and relationships.
The movie tried a little too hard though and the edgy feel to the locations, family dynamics and relationships explored in this movie doesn't really lend itself to opening up this subject to the audience.
In short - it fell short of my expectations of delivering a good movie on the subject of intersex people and how this impacts upon their lives. - DirectorJ.J. AbramsStarsChris PineZachary QuintoSimon PeggThe brash James T. Kirk tries to live up to his father's legacy with Mr. Spock keeping him in check as a vengeful Romulan from the future creates black holes to destroy the Federation one planet at a time.Dubious plot but an enjoyable movie with not a dull minute of action!
