- CreatorEric KripkeStarsJared PadaleckiJensen AcklesJim BeaverTwo brothers follow their father's footsteps as hunters, fighting evil supernatural beings of many kinds, including monsters, demons, and gods that roam the earth. This show really does have it all - fantastic cast, incredible writing, stories that'll keep you guessing, laughing, crying and holding your breath for the what's coming next. It's one to watch over and again, and it certainly doesn't hurt it that the cast can not only act, but are incredibly easy on the eyes!
- CreatorRobert C. CooperBrad WrightStarsJoe FlaniganRachel LuttrellDavid HewlettAn international team of scientists and military personnel discover a Stargate network in the Pegasus Galaxy and come face-to-face with a new, powerful enemy: The Wraith. With characters you'll fall in love with (even the irritable snarky genius!), this show also has some of the best writing I've seen in sci-fi. Five seasons were not nearly enough of this amazing series!
- CreatorJonathan GlassnerBrad WrightStarsRichard Dean AndersonMichael ShanksAmanda TappingA secret military team, SG-1, is formed to explore other planets through the recently discovered Stargates. This show is genius, and gave us the spin-off show 'Atlantis', so it's hard not to love it. Fantastically cast, it has witty, clever scripts and gives you characters and storylines that you'll love the more you watch them.
- CreatorChris CarterStarsDavid DuchovnyGillian AndersonMitch PileggiTwo F.B.I. Agents, Fox Mulder the believer and Dana Scully the skeptic, investigate the strange and unexplained, while hidden forces work to impede their efforts.Aliens, monsters, and two FBI agents obviously meant for each other...how can you lose? When the storylines don't have you on the edge of your seat the UST between Mulder and Scully will. This is the show that had half the women in the tv-watching world madly in love with David Duchovny for 10 years!
- CreatorJoss WhedonStarsNathan FillionGina TorresAlan TudykFive hundred years in the future, a renegade crew aboard a small spacecraft tries to survive as they travel the unknown parts of the galaxy and evade warring factions as well as authority agents out to get them.A show that deserved so much more than the single season it got - fans were crushed when this was cancelled. A sci-fi meets western with space-ships and horse-riding, gun-wielding cowboy types, this was a real gem. No doubt if it had been released a few years later it would probably still be running now, with the recent popularity of sci-fi shows. An amazing cast, fantastic stories, and too many sadly left hanging stories thanks to it's cancellation.
- CreatorDavid CraneMarta KauffmanStarsJennifer AnistonCourteney CoxLisa KudrowFollows the personal and professional lives of six twenty to thirty year-old friends living in the Manhattan borough of New York City.If you haven't seen at least one episode of this then you must've been living under a rock. An amazing show that ran for ten years and is, seven years after it's end, still being repeated daily. It's the show you put on when you want something easy to watch, the one that, within two lines you can name the episode.
- CreatorDavid AngellPeter CaseyDavid LeeStarsKelsey GrammerJane LeevesDavid Hyde PierceDr. Frasier Crane moves back to his hometown of Seattle, where he lives with his father and works as a radio psychiatrist.Like 'Friends', Frasier is something of an institution. It's episodes will never get old, no matter how often they're watched.
- CreatorSydney NewmanStarsJodie WhittakerPeter CapaldiPearl MackieThe further adventures in time and space of the alien adventurer known as the Doctor and his companions from planet Earth.David Tennant, Christopher Eccleston, John Barrowman, Matt Smith...this is the show that made them all household names. Fantastic writing meets amazing acting and voila! An instant hit!
- CreatorJoss WhedonStarsSarah Michelle GellarNicholas BrendonAlyson HanniganA young woman, destined to slay vampires, demons and other infernal creatures, deals with her life fighting evil, with the help of her friends. Before Twilight, this was the show that made girls all over the world fall in love with vampires, werewolves, and tall, dark and handsome men who fight them. It was also the show that changed the idea that the small blonde girl in horror shows/movies had to be the damsel in distress, and we love it for that!
- CreatorGene RoddenberryStarsPatrick StewartBrent SpinerJonathan FrakesSet almost 100 years after Captain Kirk's 5-year mission, a new generation of Starfleet officers sets off in the U.S.S. Enterprise-D on its own mission to go where no one has gone before.Patrick Stewart stars in what is, in my humble opinion, the best of the Star Treks. Even twenty-four years after it started, this show is still a favourite - it doesn't even have much in the way of graphics that make you wince when compared to what today's computers give us.
- StarsColin FirthJennifer EhleSusannah HarkerWhile the arrival of wealthy gentlemen sends her marriage-minded mother into a frenzy, willful and opinionated Elizabeth Bennet matches wits with haughty Mr. Darcy.Without question, this is hands down the best (and most well-known) adaptation of Jane Austen's most popular novel. Colin Firth will forever be 'Mr. Darcy', and Jennifer Ehle is perfect as his 'Elizabeth'. It's five and a half hours from start to end, but well worth the time, and of course it has the infamous 'lake scene' (a scene not even in the book, something that'll surprise people who've not read the novel, since it's one of the most well-known from the series!).
- StarsAdrian PaulStan KirschJim ByrnesDuncan MacLeod is Immortal, and must live in modern society, concealing his true nature while fighting other Immortals. This show knocks spots off the movies, and is addictive within the first few episodes. Not to be missed!
- CreatorDeborah Joy LeVineJoe ShusterJerry SiegelStarsDean CainTeri HatcherLane SmithIn addition to fighting evil, Superman has a burning romance with Lois Lane in both of his identities.Dean Cain will forever be 'Clark Kent' in my mind - the best adaptation by far, perfectly cast and with good enough storylines to keep anyone interested. The chemistry between Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain is incredible, and graphics, while slightly dated, are at least enjoyable!
- CreatorDanny BilsonPaul De MeoStarsRichard BurgiGarett MaggartBruce A. YoungIn the jungles of Peru, the fight for survival heightened his senses. Now, Detective Jim Ellison is a sentinel in the fight for justice. Anthropologist Blair Sandburg works side by side with Jim, helping him develop these senses.Under-appreciated, this is a fantastic show with good storylines and good (if a little nineties!) acting.
- CreatorIan BrennanBrad FalchukRyan MurphyStarsLea MicheleJane LynchMatthew MorrisonA group of ambitious misfits try to escape the harsh realities of high school by joining a glee club headed by a passionate Spanish teacher. You either love it or you hate it. It's that simple. It has a fantastic soundtrack and entertaining storylines, and the cast isn't half-bad either. Well worth giving a chance...but be warned, if you like it, you'll be hooked!
- StarsJemima RooperMorven ChristieAlex KingstonAmanda, an ardent Jane Austen fan, lives in present day London with her boyfriend Michael, until she finds she's swapped places with Austen's fictional creation Elizabeth Bennet.I fully expected to hate this when I watched it - after all, everyone knows you don't mess with Austen, especially not when it comes to Elizabeth and Darcy. This proved me wrong 100%! It's entertaining, it's funny and witty, well-cast and brilliantly made.
- CreatorShonda RhimesMichelle LirtzmanStarsEllen PompeoChandra WilsonJames Pickens Jr.A drama centered on the personal and professional lives of five surgical interns and their supervisors. Finally, a medical series with a sense of humour that doesn't end up being completely ridiculous! It's witty, and in turns uplifting and heart-breaking.
- CreatorShonda RhimesStarsKate WalshPaul AdelsteinKaDee StricklandA spin-off of the medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" centering on the life of neonatal surgeon Addison Montgomery. The spin-off to 'Grey's Anatomy', this is easily as good, and just as well written, cast, and made. You can't like one and not love the other.
- CreatorPaul HaggisStarsPaul GrossBeau StarrTony CraigThe adventures of an impossibly upright Royal Canadian Mounted Police constable and his American colleagues in the city of Chicago. You can't watch this show without falling in love with everyone's favourite Mountie. Fraser is the perfect gentleman, and incredibly smart, handsome, and noble to boot! The show is very cleverly written, and focuses a great deal on Fraser's friendship with Det. Ray Vecchio, and even gets away with having the ghost of Fraser's father as a recurring guest star. Brilliant!
- StarsKen StottKaty MurphyDavid TennantA salesman starts to run a hospital radio station inside a facility for people with mental heath needs. It's so very nineties, but if you can forgive that it's a real gem - well-acted, well-written, and not afraid to tackle a subject that's at best sensitive (mental health), and it manages to deal with it incredibly well. Worth watching, but be warned it's not all fluffy kittens and rainbows!
