- Twenty-six year old Jennifer is a customer service rep at a financial institution, ironic as she advises people on how to save money when she can't manage her own finances. Jennifer can't resist buying anything that's "pretty" or "girly" for herself. She has also long worked at a lingerie store, she keeping that job only part-time if only to maintain her employee discount, especially important as she loves lingerie. She still lives with her parents rent-free, they who have placed their lives on hold for her. Although her spending drives him crazy, her father, Tullio, can't say no to his little princess. He wants to retire but can't without making those sacrifices to Jennifer. She takes his efforts for granted as although he often makes her lunch for work, it often sits uneaten or thrown in the garbage as she is addicted to fast food. She was diagnosed as being diabetic ten years ago, her pampering herself a distraction from those health issues. Her mother, Anna, indulges Jennifer in large part because of the diabetes. Even with her parents taking care of most of her needs and wants, Jennifer is still over $10,000 in debt. Gail shows her what life away from mommy and daddy is for the first time in her life, and that her fast food addiction is wreaking havoc with her health. Jennifer has to find cheaper alternatives to shopping as her entertainment. And she has to refocus what diabetes means in her life.
