- Detective Carlos Sandoval resigns from the Dallas Police after his partner is murdered. He then joins up with childhood friend Trent Malloy, an ex-military martial arts instructor. Together they decide to form a private investigation business. Trent's brother, Tommy, and also ex-cop turned bartender Butch McMahon help them out from time to time.
- A Texas Ranger is killed in the line of duty. Two officers apply for the open position. Both are almost equally skilled. One is being hunted by her violent ex-husband, and she thinks about dropping out of the application process.

Walker and Trivette race against the clock to save them and capture the criminals - also well aware of a deadly storm system with a history of spawning deadly tornadoes.
- The criminal who killed Walker's fiancé ten years earlier is being released from prison early. He intends to seek revenge on Walker for putting him away by hurting all of his friends.
