- A portrait of contemporary Chinese society based on the ubiquitous illegal trade in pirated D.V.D.s.
- A folk singer comes into a dusty town, sits down and begins to sing about people. One song is about a man coming from far away to the town. At that moment, a man comes home from prison, through the sunflower fields. The folk singer and other townsfolk tell his story, singing about him or talking to him of the past. The young man doesn't speak but tries to go on with his life, following the advice of the local police officer who hands over the roasted seeds shop of his brother-in-law. From that moment on, the young man tries to reconcile with his past.
- Documentary following Pai Gu, a junior high school graduate from Jiangxi Province. He sells pirated DVDs of "artistic films" in Shenzhen to make a living.
- Along a sleepy Hunan riverside, two delinquent boys experience a summer of love and violence. Ali and Xiao Yu are two teenage rebels idling away their days along the banks of a river in Jishou, a quiet town in Hunan province. They steal motorbikes, bully and rob kids, sing karaoke and get into fist fights outside the local internet bar, but their rough exterior belies a deeper romanticism, and a tenderness unfolds between them and their teenage loves. As one day bleeds into the next in this impoverished rural setting, it becomes apparent that these sun-baked days of misspent youth will be the wildest, freest time of their lives.
