They are loving the case until Peter's mother shows up, and then Janie returns as the DA, and then Janie announces they're upping the charge to first-degree murder.

- Stanton proposes that Franklin and Bash become partners in the firm. This requires them to play the corporate game, and Jared and Peter are having a tough time suing the owner of a small brewery over copyright infringement on behalf of their big league client. Meanwhile, they defend an old friend of theirs who was arrested by cop whom he thought was just a woman dressed up in a costume. The case isn't going well for Peter because he's more interested in how attractive the cop is.
- Peter is happy to take on as client former frat buddy Danny 'Double D' Dubois, whom Jared can't forgive having showered with his then girlfriend years ago, now falsely accused of causing a car crash while rushing in a golf cart to a brothel, allegedly drunk again from beer his grandmother -with whom he lives, having been sacked- stocks only for him. Stanton Infeld mistrusts Karp, given his romantic break-up with Hanna, so gives Jared the lead the fat divorce case client Rick Paxton starts against her tycoon husband Rick, who happens to have the same mistress, and a macho-embarrassing secret which allows Jared to arrange a surprise outcome.
- Jared is temporarily serving as judge at a small claims court, but one fair ruling has declared him as murderer of rock and roll. Jared and Peter then defend the young owner of a famous music club but go up against Franklin senior in court. Pindar's therapist has been revealed as a fraud but Stanton Infeld is defending him and forces Pindar to face some of his many fears.
- Franklin and Bash are hesitant about representing a man who held up a pizza place with a cheese gun, but when they suggest to Damien to switch cases and he jumps at the chance, they know something worse is just around the corner. They are now representing Stanton's second and fourth ex-wife who, in her words, rescued a dog, but in legal terms stole a dog.
- A high-profile judge (Don McManus) asks Peter and Jared to defend him after he is arrested for having an affair with a lawyer while presiding over her cases. Sexual tension builds between Peter and Janie (Claire Coffee). And Karp defends a college friend (Tuc Watkins) who needs to prove that he is gay in order to keep a championship softball trophy.
- Peter and Jared are working on a case in which a former chop-shop worker (Gino Anthony Pesi) is accused of a pre-meditated attack. As they start selecting jurors for the case, the duo begin to receive a lot of unsolicited advice. Infeld-Daniels' summer associate program partners a young law student (Danielle Panabaker) with lawyers at the firm.
- Peter and Jared ask Hanna to help them handle the court martial of two Navy sailors (Kayla Ewell and Gabrielle Dennis) accused of assaulting fellow personnel, but Hanna has ulterior motives for coming to their aid. To make matters worse, the sailors' commanding officer (Joanna Cassidy) has little confidence in their defense team. Elsewhere, Pindar arbitrates a dispute between the co-owners of a virtual business. And Karp finds himself walking a human-resources tightrope over a previous encounter with one of the firm's summer associates (Tiffany Dupont).
- Peter and Jared help a widow (Anne Ramsay) retain the body of her esteemed late husband from being awkwardly immortalized as a dancer in a human body exhibit. When a stalker begins harassing Stanton Infeld, Karp thinks it may be an old client just released from prison and out for revenge. Hanna runs into an old college friend (Boris Kodjoe) and sparks an old romance.
- Martina and the other lawyers represent a client accused of killing his friend and night-club partner. Cindy is having a birthday party and Riley invites herself. Cindy wants to hide that she is dating Riley's ex-boyfriend.
- Peter and Jared must clear their name when a former client (Carla Gallo) is arrested for skipping trial, only to accuse her two lawyers of paying her to disappear. While under investigation, the scene flashes back to how the dynamic legal duo of Franklin and Bash (along with Pindar and Carmen) came to be.
- When Jared's father, Leonard Franklin (Beau Bridges) attempts to buy the firm from Stanton Infeld, Peter and Jared fight to save it. Peter also comes to the rescue of an old high school friend (Chris Klein) who is running for governor and wants to drop out of the race due to a scandal.
- Martina is a first year lawyer. In the conference room with all the lawyers to assist on a big case, Martina speaks up with an insight to the evidence against their client. She gets noticed and asked to be third chair on another case.
- Martina's knowledge of football helps her get assigned to a case of a high school football star whose potential career was ended due to injuries. The coach did not get him treatment, and he got worse. Martina's first paycheck is delayed.

- After legal heavyweight Rachel King (Heather Locklear) humiliates Franklin & Bash on national television, Stanton hires her to help run the firm. Peter and Jared represent a famous magician (guest star Adam Goldberg) after a bracelet vanishes and never reappears. Damien intentionally re-releases an embarrassing viral video with hopes to expedite his judicial appointment. Pindar finds a termite in his bed and has the house tented, but staying on the outside proves too difficult and results in the Man Cave's destruction.
- The daughter of wealthy parents leaves a drug rehab against doctor's orders and joins a cult. As she is giving all her trust fund money to the cult leader, the law firm intervenes to stop the flow of money, and get her out of the cult.
- Martina accepts a case for the law firm. A man's wife was killed during a robbery, and the case goes from an accidental death, to a wrongful death, to a murder. The jewelry store owner had ordered a hit on the wife to cover up fraud.
