- A wannabe actor has a hard time moving on from a break-up, but he is lucky to have supportive friends.
- A documentary team gets a grant to do a film on a rare fatal disease that is attacking homeless people. However, they quickly find the film too depressing. Ducking into a nightclub, they discover a young Manhattan comedienne and decide instead to follow her as she makes the circuit of auditions in L.A. as she tries to get a TV pilot. Unfortunately, she has failed to tell her boyfriend of this move. He decides he will trail her out west. There, the boyfriend runs into an old friend who has already made a break on a TV pilot. Seizing the opportunity, the actress turns her attentions to the established actor. However, the actress goes nowhere in auditions, but her ex-boyfriend is suddenly noticed and becomes the next hot prospect.
- The relationship of two gay men and their friends (from the pre-AIDS 1977 to the epidemic late 1980s) with the common theme of a green plaid shirt, which they found at their first meeting at a yard sale.
- Anthony Caldarella's debut feature is a semi-autobiographical account of a working-class, Italian-American family living on Manhattan's lower east side in the mid-sixties. Rose Casale and her four sons - Sal, who runs a local trattoria, Vincent, a struggling blues singer, Jack, a charismatic magician, and Joey, the youngest - have achieved a level of sustenance that any family would cherish. But at 24, Jack has replaced his love of magic with an uncontrollable craving for heroin and his addiction tests the family's mettle.
- For longtime fans of Saturday Night Live, nothing says "Christmas" like clay, and the hapless hero of Walter Williams's sadistic skits brings it all back in this half-hour 1996 special. Those who can't stand watching the torture of static, crudely sculpted Play-Doh people might not see the humor as Mr. Bill's whole family is subjected to a wide array of holiday abuse--from the festive blendering of the egg dog to the explosive arrival of the sinister Santa Sluggo. Things are livened up by spiritual guest Father Guido Sarducci and his quest to find a real Christmas in sunny L.A., home of many former SNL actors and writers. Mr. Bill also takes a technological leap forward as a reluctant Scrooge in a computer-animated version of Dickens's A Christmas Carol. Humorous ads for some very simple toys also add to the fun and festivity. And when you think it's all over, keep watching--the real gem of the package is slipped in after the credits. It's an example of the real thing, a Mr. Bill SNL Christmas spot from the 1970s. Done on film rather than video, the old Mr. Bill seems much cruder but much, much funnier. In all, this video is worth a few laughs, and would make an ideal gift for fans and collectors.
- A man on a bad run of luck - he loses his job, his car, his girl friend, and a manuscript in a 48 hour period - has a complete life re-assessment with the help of his adulterous brother and an immature cousin.
- After the death of her parents, Nina, the daughter of Cuban immigrants, tries to find the American Dream. She divides her time between her studies, work and a promising affair with Brian, a young man from a decent family. One day, the couple find themselves kidnapped by a gang of brutish drug addicts. Nina, in particular, is the victim of their erratic and sadistic behavior, and as time passes, and the captors don't receive any ransom, her situation becomes increasingly perilous.
- Based on a true story, a young man struggles to understand his student-radical Mum who is still stuck in the ideals of the 1960's. She quits a high-paying job wanting to travel to Vietnam, while her son is immersed in business studies and being practical about everything.
