Porker (Peter Riegert), Sal's right-hand man, has been madly in love with Florence since third grade. For them and all the workers at North Shore Fish, laughter is their medicine to get through the monotony of work, especially when the pressure is on to increase their output. The job gets tougher when a new health inspector, Shimma (Wendie Malick) arrives and could shut them down if they don't meet government standards. Meanwhile, Flo is pregnant and isn't sure she wants an abortion. Try as they might to keep things running, a stunned Sal announces the closure of North Shore Fish. The factory was sold to an athletic club without his knowledge and they must pack their things immediately.
